What a business huh? 20 - 30 billion? Wow!
The owner of the Kings Island amusement park outside of Cincinnati will sell it and four other parks to Cedar Fair LP for $1.24 billion.
Cedar Fair (NYSE: FUN) currently owns seven amusement parks.
CBS Corp. (NYSE: CBS) disclosed the deal Monday, nearly four months since it began shopping its Paramount Parks operation. New York-based CBS wanted to unload the subsidiary because it didn't fit with its media and communications holdings.
Sandusky, Ohio-based Cedar Fair will pick up Kings Island in the cash deal, as well as Canada's Wonderland, outside of Toronto; Kings Dominion near Richmond, Va.; Carowinds, near Charlotte, N.C.; and Great America in Santa Clara, Calif.
The 453-acre Kings Island, which opened in 1972, draws more than 3 million visitors a year.
The five Paramount parks generated $423 million in revenue last year and attracted more than 12 million visitors.
Cedar Fair chairman Dick Kinzel said the acquisition should increase the company's cash flow by $20 million to $30 million annually.
