Good evening, everyone.

I hope your day has gone well.

I am absolutely thrilled that it is Friday. After a particularly stress filled week at work, I need the weekend.

Allow me just a moment to vent some frustrations.

The private school I teach at has been the perfect match for me for three years. I started teaching there shortly after moving to CA. At this stage in my career, it was exactly what I needed.

You've all read postings by me before that spoke of how much I love my job. That's why the news I received on Monday has been hard to swallow. Our owners, who are also the directors, have chosen to sell the property, lock, stock and barrel. Each day this week, the teachers and parents learned more and more little pieces of the true situation. By today, we've learned that our school will not exist beyond June 30. Period. It's gone after that date. All of the students are now scrambling to find new schools, which is not easy to do. Most schools don't even take applications after Feb 15 for the next term. The waiting lists are huge. So, I'm feeling the loss of the school not only as a teacher, but also as the parent of a child who attends the school.

I have few doubts that I will find other employment. That isn't too much of a concern, but having to start over with a new school is just not what I had in mind any time soon. Leaving the school and the students that I have come to love is going to be quite difficult.

Whoever said change is gonna do you good, obviously didn't enjoy whatever it was they had going for them prior to the change.

The emotions run from sadness to downright anger over the way in which our directors handled the whole situation.

So, I'm having a well deserved drink or three this evening and lamenting the loss.

Anyone else in need of a drink this evening? Join me.

Yes, the wine glass makes all the difference! I have the crystal my dad brought back from overseas when he was in the Korean war, when I married the first time, mom gave me some of it... I use that stuff when I'm feeling down and on the rare occasion that I actually drink.

Evening everyone....

EJ...((((hugs)))) sorry to hear about the job, I can understand just how you feel about losing something that is a perfect fit. I had to leave my job in the transplant program a few years ago, at the time I was a temp and they just didn't have a permanent place for me. But I loved the job and it was one I looked forward to going to everyday. So for a year I worked in another job, within the same company and I while I wasn't miserable I really wanted to be back in the transplant dept. When they asked me to come back permanetly I jumped at the chance. I am sure you will find something and hopefully it will be just as fulfilling or even more so...

Cherie... haven't those men ever heard of althelic supporters??? LOL... twice breaking a date is enough... I wouldn't let him break a third one...

Hi Ukin, Missy and GLB... Jasper is 4 years old... and he still is a puppy... he's a bit calmer than he was at 4 months... but not by much...

I just kinda feel like Dorothy when I think about my students....I'll miss them most of all. There is such a connection there with them and I hate to see us all go our separate ways.

Sometimes it doesn't pay to get attached to them, but I really can't imagine being one of those teachers that doesn't build good relationships with her students.




Lesson I'm learning here....if I'm gonna drink....I am going to make tons of typos....LMAO..I had to reread this a few times to catch them all..
