Mia or anyone who may know,
There is a Phillipino food that is made with sticky rice, coconut, and brown sugar I think. When I have bought it in the past it was wrapped in banana leaf. Do you have any idea what I am talking about and if so do you know how it is made?

Mmm, Asiasiren, it sounds like what we know as "suman." It is made with coconut milk and I think the leaves are not banana. I love that stuff. There is a Thai version of it--except when I've eaten it, they serve ripe mango slices and coconut milk with it. Sooooo good.

Wish I knew how to make the suman--it would go great with green tea!

Sorry I didn't make it to Lit yesterday.
Thanks Mia for your idea. I don't think that is what I am looking for. This isn't really a cake. It is more like a sticky mess but so delicious.
I guess I will just keep hunting for it.

Indonesia has many rice cakes. From soft cake like to crispy. (not to be confused with those things in the grocery) yuck.

Talking about kueh......... there is a thai restaurant in chicago Argyle area that makes some of the nice kueh...... but although it still can't compare with the ones from Malaysia. ooooh I miss those.
