wb cordelia, hope you have a great time in OR. What did you do there?

Well, I guess just about anything would cause cancer these days. I love grills , and it caused cancer too.... but....
THAT's IT, I am going to buy a bottle of Lee Kum Kee oyster sauce. I miss the oyster sauce chicken so much.... anybody wanna try? :D

breathing the air in Toronto causes cancer too... gross. at least oyster sauce is tasty! lol i'm with erc too, i love grilling... and it is DEFINITELY bbq season!

hehe us asians seem very preoccupied with food... i bet that all those times i sat around wondering if everybody was busy doing things outside instead of posting here, you all were in your kitchens busy scavenging for tasty morsels of food! lol

Hows it going? Doing ok here, weather is starting to clear up from the last couple of days.

I see some discussion about Lee Kum Kee sauces, oyster sauce is good. Although I'm also a bit partial to black bean sauce:p

Another food note: Does anyone like the Calbee brand shrimp chips (I think it is Japanese brand)? I think that stuff is damn good!

Great pictures. Did you shot the pics with camera on your hands or using a tripod? I always have problems to take the night scenes without taking my tripod, and it is heavy to carry around.
i have calbee before.... although the flavor is too salty for my taste. Once in awhile it is not bad, but I can't take it too often.

Thanks erc... I didn't have a tripod, but I used the iron railings around the lake to stabilize the camera... and even then they were a bit blurry... the funny thing is, the long exposures actually brightened up the scene... i.e. made it lighter than it was..

I will definitely have to do more digital photographer here in Beijing.... all my best earlier pictures are with my SLR.... and I don't have a scanner....
 
Very nice Hong.. actually to avoid the blur, I usually use a trick.
Instead of pressing the button to take the pics, which would shake the camera; I always use the time delay button. It is as good as using the remote control.
Do you have exposure control in your digital camera? I like to underexpose or overexpose and try to pick the best results. Usually, the best shot are the one that is underexpose.

Most of my pictures are being done with SLR too. I still like my old faithful Nikon N-90s(F90-x out of US). I prefer to take slides instead of film. It is cheaper to develop (no prints needed) and I just pick the slides I like and scan it into my computer. Besides, I have more lens selection and flexibility with my SLR to take the pictures. But the digital camera always has the advantage of not paying anything extra for processing. And it provides perfect discreet photo shooting ;) .

Thanks Cordelia... am glad you made the visit... I also have some cool Hong Kong pics (lived there for 12 years), and also have no scanner....

and you really should post at least one pic here...... I promise not to get all hot and flustered, though I can't vouch for the others ;)

Good trick to remember erc.. thanks... I actually have one of those remote clickers for my old Pentax... but nothing for the digital. I do have some exposure control on the cam.. and have done quite a lot of cool stuff with underexposed pics (I love working with the graininess on my editors). I really have switched almost totally over to digital these days because of Lit, though I do miss my lenses on my SLR.

Hong, I don't know if you remember the pictures I showed earlier in asian thread. It was the hong kong night scene. All I had was just a regular point and shoot camera, and with 400 speed film. I just put that camera on the wall, put on self timer and let it take by itself.... it was not too bad. Let me find if I can get the thread there. If not I just repost it.
 
Glad this is still been kept going in my absence ;)

I'm off to Amsterdam tomorrow for two nights with my parents; we're going to visit my dad's oldest sister there. I'm also going to be picking up lots of anime and stuff from my nephew out there. With my maddening extended family I have three nephews and a niece out there, two of which are older than me!

And Cordelia, how come erc gets a pic but the rest of us don't? :p
