Chain Story

That's what I thought - just wanted to make sure. :)

I can go ahead and submit next if you want to shuffle the order around.
Certainly. Go ahead and submit. Let us know when it's been approved and we'll go along. *purrs*

Heart Like A Serpent should be finished by Monday. I finally got some momentum going on it.

I submitted it today, under Deus Ex Machina: Serpent Heart. No sex, but well worth reading, I think.

Have I mentioned how awesome you guys are recently?

Mistress Jett... Your picture in your avitar looks strangely familiar. Do you happen to attend anime conventions?

I need to finish a chapter for another chain story tonight, and then I should be working more on my Deus Ex intro. :)

Nope, never been to any kind of convention/conference unless it had to do with underground publishing, zines and such.
Ah. I thought that might have been where I'd seen you. I was at a convention just this weekend and there was a girl who looked strangely like you. Strange and nifty at the same time. *purrs*

Anyway... moving on.

PS- hope you enjoy the comment I left on your story. I certianly enjoyed writing it. *laughs* Some of those people I just wanted to cremate Nazi style.

I am still a bit confused by how the first two chapters are named. If we do continue like that, they're going to be out of order, no? Is there any way to fix that?

I don't mean to go rambling on about this, so if you guys think it's no big deal, I'm more than willing to shut up :)

I'm a tad confused too - DG's story is up as Chapter 1, and FtF's is subtitled rather than chaptered. We're supposed to be doing the latter, right? Or should I submit mine as Chapter 3 when I have it done?

ETA: I thought we were going to use an anonymous city?

Okay... so from what we said and posted, the first chapter from each person was supposed to be the chapter number followed by the character name. All subsequent chapters can have creative names but still chapter numbers.

So I would name my first chapter

Deus Ex Machina: Chapter 4 - Tara

And my following submissions... I don't know... maybe

Deus Ex Machina: Chapter 9 - A Hidden Agenda (I'm making this up)

This is the way I thought we had agreed on. It makes the most sense too, in my opinion, and it would be great if we could fix it to match.

I also thought we were going to use an anonymous city. Where was a city name mentioned? I must not have paid attention.

ETA: Hmmm, I just noticed I should probably change my main character's name since there will be confusion if a different person with the same name is mentioned in another chapter. Argh, this is getting confusing.

Oh, chapter numbers and then subtitles? I guess that makes more sense, though the titles might end up awkward. I thought that each introductory chapter would be subtitled but not numbered, and then the rest of the story would be just chaptered. Either way, I'm lost now, LOL.

The first chapter mentions New York City.
The problem if not all chapters are numbered is that they will simply be out of order, and it will be difficult for any reader to know where to start.

I don't remember using New York. *sheepish grins* I will change that and resubmit the story. Eep! Sorry, guys!

I have heard that the chapters have to be numbered or they don't count toward the chain for the story. In order to start the thread, they told me I had to title it Chapter One, so each chapter should be numbered after that in order to be part of the chain. Sorry for not posting it here, guys. Brain freeze on my part.

So each story should be submitted in the order they are posted, regardless of what story they correlate into, even if the chapters are submitted one after the other by the same author (although I CANNOT see that happening. LOL)

That way we can keep the post in order and once the story is finished, we can set this thread up as the table of contents.

Serpent Heart IS up.. will link in to this post later as I'm falling asleep.

DG, didn't we orginally talk about the stories all tying in, eventually to each other, with characters moving towards other characters and so forth, eventually tying each character together in a Six Degrees type of thing but each seperate character's story being understandable as a standalone type of thing*? Club Adrenaline (which I tried to set up clearly enough so that any other character interactions can take place there if needed, is, in it's actuality, set in New Orleans. However, it's a haven for the supernatural.. wouldn't all such havens worldwide sort of be a connected thing? Like the HArd Rock Cafe for vampires and such, lol.

We will consider that an offical poke! Jen, you're up!
Writing as we speak, er, type :)

I do have one question about the vampire in my story. The forst part of the chain set up supernatural things as something people feel, don't know much about and so on, while the second part presents them as more visible. Is that simply the environment the characters are in in each of the chapters?

I'm trying how surprised/afraid my character should be when she meets the vampire, how much she should know and so on, so the story fits into the overall framework. I figured I had best check that with you guys.

Humans don't know that anything supernatural exists. Any evidence that presents itself is quickly dismissed. It would be like a mythological vampire walking up to you on a street corner. It would be like someone trying to say they knew a real life mythological vampire at the water cooler Monday morning. People would laugh you off as crazy.

It's the same in teh world of Darkness. Only there IS something out there in the world of darkness. *laughs*

Yea, it's fine. The characters can be interconnected. I will eventually bring Vincenza down to New Orleans. *purrs* So it all works out.

If we WANT to bring the characters together, that's great. If people want their stories to just stand alone in the world we're writing in, great. That's what's so nifty about the story setup thing.

*chuckles* I'm planning on dragging a bunch of characters from all over the world into this.. and definitely planning on, here and there, seeing what I can do about brushing wings with other characters and seeing what happens. This is fun- roleplay in chapter story form is what it comes down to for me.

I have the first part of my story written. It isn't all that long, I hope nobody is bothered by that.

So I will title it Deus Ex Machina Ch. 03, correct? In keeping with the way Ch.01 was titled? (Can you tell I like order? ) I could give it a subtitle as well, I'd just like to sanction it here first so I don't have to edit my submission later. :) Feedback please!
