A brief recap. I started this conversation in Author's Hangout, precisely to exchange "Ideas For Plots And Situations" among Novelists and Readers (and potentially curious writers).

I do not intend to ask each husband how many hours he wears the cage or each wife how many weeks she neglects to use the key.

There are numerous personal confession and psychological support sites (more or less serious, more or less money-grubbing) but I am not interested.

I am not asking you to tell me your biography, but your literary ideas.

I would like to address the topic of "male chastity cage" as a Category of Erotic Literature. Excuse me everyone if I am boring, I unfortunately bore people even in real life.

Fortunately or unfortunately, I am obsessed with the History of past centuries (to be clear, Ancient and Medieval). I always try to gather information, and not everything I write is from my own experience (like Tolkien never flew on the back of an eagle or Ariosto on a Griffin).

"When I Was Sixty-Four" (heh, heh) I read a book written by historians, "Invention of Tradition" (Eric Hobsbawm and T.O. Ranger editors). 1980? IDK. They said that so many things that we think of as "traditional" were invented at a specific moment in history, such as Scottish clan-colored tartans.

A few months ago we celebrated the 25th anniversary of the Literotica website. And, guess what? Twenty-five years ago chastity devices did not exist.

Oh, sure, there were pioneering contraptions exhibited as eccentric oddities, but there was no mass market: neither in sales, nor in photographs (which require the existence of a "prop" albeit lubricated and worn only for the time of the photographic pose), nor videotapes (which require a stable and effective object)... and there were no drawings either, which is strange because the illustrator can pretend that devices exist that have not yet been invented!

So I would almost like to propose: since 25 years ago these devices did not exist, and since now there is a market (of both objects and stories), wouldn't it be appropriate for Literotica.com to have a Category explicitly dedicated to the chastity device?

I don’t think it needs it’s own category. Tags seem effective enough. In general, chastity is a fun component of a story, but would probably be disinteresting to most readers as the central theme of the story. Even without the formality of the cage, chastity is present in many stories leading up until the point that the conscious or unconscious commitment is broken.

Well. in 2023 economics journals reported that 29% of wives earned more than their husbands while in 1923 it was less than 4%. A partial explanation is that families allow girls to "study more years" before diving into the workforce (often ending up in a dead-end career); then there are "Pink Quotas," "reserved seats," "affirmative action," etc. Society is so ill-prepared for this new role of "Breadwinner in a skirt" that we can't even talk about it.

I wonder if this FEMDOM "trend" should not be divided into three Categories:

The only universal rule I understood was that there are no universal rules. Some women have multiple orgasms from vaginal penetration and women who do not. Some men just want to cum fast, and others who don't.

The story has totally taken off - Thank you for sparking my imagination. Initially, I was going to write it in one chapter since my idea was a little thin. But as I was mapping out the narrative, it became clear to me that the structure will be more like a series of volumes (if I make more than one). So the first volume will present in a fashion similar to the story I wrote “Living the Dream”. It will probably have a few short chapters. I may take you up on that challenge of NOT ending with huge ropes of ejaculation, but rather leave volume 1 hanging without a literary release. It’ll probably get shit on because of it, but I’m thinking I should give it a try and see what happens. Given the nature of the story, I think that ending would make a lot of sense and I think it would probably play to the appropriate audience of readers who like a caged male and what a caged male might experience. Feel free to PM to discuss ideas. It would be great to bounce them around.

Also, thanks for the kind comments. I had a vision for the first two stories I wrote and I’m glad to see that they are landing with the people who enjoy that style. Hopefully, I can improve upon it.

Oh, my gosh! I really wouldn't want my improper advice to lower the popularity of your artwork among the mass public.
Unfortunately, already the "Fetish" category is a small niche (compared to giants like "Loving Wife" or "Incest") and does not allow you to gather large numbers of followers.
Without any scientific evidence, I have a "feeling" that sales of chastity devices are increasing. From 1999 to now, that's 25 years, new materials, cheaper (just for a test of half an hour!).
Many wives are earning more than their husbands (29% in Western countries). Many women's magazines openly talk about cages and keys. I believe the audience will increase (as sales of blindfolds and handcuffs have increased since the 50 Shades movies) but for the time being I am sorry to have to warn you, that it is a niche audience.

Flattering. I honestly didn’t think anyone would like what I published and I’m surprised it’s been rated so well thus far. They weren’t published for attention or followers…. I just had an idea for something and wanted to write it out; thinking, maybe someone else might enjoy the adventure. Maybe I could paint a picture with words and someone else could visualize their version of my narrative. Ultimately, it’s just for fun.

In any case, I’m currently working on 6 other stories in my spare time. The one you inspired is centric on the chastity device - as best as I can imagine it - I have no experience with one. In my minds eye, I imagine that part of the eroticism of a chastity device is having your arousal and orgasm controlled by someone else. And to that end, it might make a lot of sense to have a story that doesn’t end with a climax - you know, since it’s out of the readers control. We’ll see.

In my stories, I develop the 'sharing a secret kink' part very little, and I realize I'm wrong because intimate complicity is very important. because I assume that our mutual friend IC69, is trying to say something that bothers me too:
When a story "starts" without any warning (or just caged, or just cuckolded) and then mixes the two.
I have already written, and I repeat, that the need to culminate a scene with an ejaculatory eruption comes (by inertia) from 90s porn movies. The chastity cage avoids that scene, and then screenwriters, directors, and actors insert another man (the Bull) to film the main scene with ropes of cum, even if it is inconsistent with the plot.
The same thing happens when a story starts out talking about chastity cages in a heterosexual couple, with very straight titles like "Servant to my wife" or "Maid caged only for women," and then we find the husband sucking cock. If it's a gay story, you have to warn me first. The tags exist on purpose.

IC69 has been a reader since 2007, or maybe earlier. Back then there were not even male chastity devices, and the only thing that could treat a husband to masturbate was to tie his wrists behind his back. Now technology makes the cage available at very cheap prices. We're talking tens of thousands of purchases. But I'm never going to be unpleasantly surprised with that in a story because I always check the tags first. And if it's in the tags I don't scroll down to the bottom and leave a bad rating, I just click away and find another story. I respect the right of others to have interests that completely turn me off.
