Dark Isle 2

Teril:
Leaning her elbows on the stained wooden table, she stared pensively at the mug in her in her hands. They sat in silence for some moments, and Theo was unable to tell if she was merely thinking his words over, or if she was perhaps dissatisfied with his answer.

"Is that all it is to you then," she asked seriously, finally breaking the silence and raising her eyes to his, "just the absence of light? There are many who would say it is more, that it is the ally of the vampires and and werebeasts that hunt us, and is mirrored in their dark nature."

Theo

"In my country we all live in peace, with minimal rebellion from humans, vampires, and were-creatures. Why is it so different here?"

Teril:
"I don't know, maybe the creatures of your land are a different kind?" Considering Theo's words, a remarkable possibility suggested itself to her: "Theo, have you ever spoken to one? To a vampire or werebeast?"

Darryl

He grew restless after only a short while longer, his body insisting on movement. He gave in then, sitting up and realizing he wasn't even slightly sore. He ran his fingers over the bandages that covered his wounds, feeling them dry and painless.
He didn't bother checking beneath them, worried that he wouldn't be able to cover them again if needs be. Odd, he felt, that he needed to keep a secret, when he knew of no secrets to keep, and these people had been so kind to him.
He stood and climbed the stairwell into the church. When he reached the outside, the light stung his eyes. He wandered ony a few steps before he realized they were there, the priest and the man he spoke with, though he hadn't heard them at first.
He'd...smelled them?
He shook the idea, then wandered over to them, smiling and squinting in the bright light.
"Good afternoon, Father..."

Theo

"Yes, you'd be surprised. In their human forms, you can't tell the difference. They are just like us. They laugh, they cry, they dance. Some are good indiviguals, other not so much." Theo had to get away from her for a second to ask about Lucas. "Will you excuse me? I must use the restroom."

Teril:
"Oh, of course Theo, go ahead."

Lost in thought, she barely noticed it as he walked away. Could they really be just like people? Remembering the bloodlust in the predatory eyes of the large wolfman who had very nearly caught her last month she found Theo's words hard to believe. No human being could ever kill in such a fashion! But then she recalled the way the villagers had fallen upon the beast with savage hunger once he was wounded, pouring their fear and anger into their blows, and she no longer felt so certain.

Father Johnathan:
Turning at the voice from behind him, he looked incredulously at the bandaged man. "You are up?!" He exclaimed in astonishment, "After the injuries you sustained last night that is astonishing indeed!" He smiled in sudden comprehension, "Clearly Teril must have overestimated the extent of your wounds, no doubt much of the blood was actually that of your attacker." Reaching out, he clasped the man's hand warmly, "I am Father Jonathan my son, you were brought to my church after being found injured last night by one of the villagers. Do you remember?"

Theo

The restroom was on the otherside of the bar, obscured by a small crowd of people. Theo began approaching a few patrons, showing them a polaroid of Lucas, but no one had recgonized him.
Theo walked into the restroom, figuring he would use it so he wouldn't be totally lying to Teril.

As he walked in he saw a grizzled looking man in a long shreaded jacket, heavily scared, toying with a large blade (OOC: how do u spell machete'?) and toying with a pistol as he talked with two other armed men. "Yeah i've been hunting were-fuckers for so long I can smell them from a mile away. Hell I can locate anyone even if they're trying to hide." Lucas approached the man , "Pardon me sir, but I couldn't help but overhearing your conversation. I'm looking for this man here," he showed the man the photo, "could you help me find him."

The man laughed, "What's he your bang buddy?" "No sir he's my brother." "You shitting me? Your white and he's black as night!! Listen I'm not gonna judge you man, but I am gonna take your wallet and anything else of value you have on you." The man brought his knife up to Theo's throat. Theo turned around, trying to escape but the man drew his pistol and fired a shot, hitting him in the right shoulder.

The pain coursed through his brain, exciting the animal instinct he tried to mask these past few days. He could no longer hold back. Theo turned around to reveal himself in his Jaguar-man form. As his arms grew large, his clothing ripped and fell to the ground. "Holy shit it's a were fucker!!!" More shots rang out as Theo leapt toward the men, attacking them. People from the other room started to flock in and attack Theo. Realizing he was outnumberd, Theo jumped through the crowd and ran out the door to the jungle. He would wait till he calmed down before returning to town, but what was he going to tell Teril?

Teril:
Jumping up and looking in the direction of the screams, she stood frozen in shock at the sight of a werecat running through the bar and bursting through the main doors to freedom. There was complete silence for a moment, the all hell broke lose with people yelling and screaming, some trying to get out the door to give chase while others headed to the back of the bar in terror, and numerous gun shots were fired through the windows and smashed door.

More frightened of the drunks with their guns then the fleeing werebeast, Teril looked around for Theo so they could leave, as a blood covered man with a loud, unpleasant voice started cursing about the 'were fucker' in the john. Not seeing Theo anywhere, the truth suddenly dawned on her: the beast had been him. Shock and fear drove her out of the tavern at a run and towards to the safety of the church, but exertion soon took the edge off her panic, and she slowed her pace, finally coming to a stop within sight of the church, she sat down and tried to gather her thoughts.

He had been just like a human, just as he claimed werecreatures were in his land, and she had certainly not felt threatened by him. But if he had no hostility to humans then what had happened at the bar?

After ten minutes time, John found himself at a small supply house. There wasn't much in here, some canned things, a few bottles of water.
He had no need for water, the underground place had a faucet. The water was good enough, once he passed it through a filter.
Food wasn't much of a problem either, but he did need weapons.
"Ammo?"
Several boxes came forth. He took a few of them, and some shotgun shells as well. Something glinted in the morning sun. A machete, rusted over. It didn't look like much.
The difference between life and death wasn't that much either.
"I'll take that as well."
He paid with some pelts, and money. He had no reason why they still wanted, or needed money, but old habits died young. If he could get rid of a green bill with a hundred on it, and get some good things in the process, he was happy.
Wrapping things up in his knapsack, John made his way through the town. Might as well take a little look before he went back to the forest.
He wasn't staying or anything, but just see anyway.

Theo sat in the empty barn, naked. His clothing had ripped off when his transformation took place. He held his hand close to his shoulder, where the bullet had hit him. He had finally stopped bleeding. How was he going to explain this to Teril? Would she be able to look at him if she knew what he really was?

Meanwhile back near the bar, a crowd of humans brough a were caracass in. "We killed him!! We killed the fucker everyone look!!!." People began stoning the carcass of the beast they bealived terrorized their bar a few hours ago.

Teril:
She was unable to convince herself that Theo would actually hurt her: if he had wanted to, there had been plenty of opportunity for him to do so on their way into town. And why had he come here? It was clearly not to study with Father John. Coming to a decision, she got up and started walking along the edge of the woods on the outskirts of town looking for any traces of his passage.

Darryl

The man had a firm grip, this priest, and a smile that was pure in its delight. But his breath reaked of onions, covered by several meals, not to mention toothpaste at one point or another, but the onions were still apparent somehow.
Darryl shook the man's hand, sudenly catching the scent of something else...what was it. Far away, he heard screams and gunshots, these apparently heard by the priest as well."I'm feeling well," he said, "should we go and check that out?"

Theo stood naked at the far end of the woods, spying on an old maid putting out some linens. He waited until she went back into her house and picked a pair of damp pants and a shirt off of the line. He only regretted that he could not recover his watch, it must have fallen off when he ran into the woods.

Hearing someone coming he disappeared back into the wooded area, trying to figure out what to do next.

Teril:
Stepping from a cleared field, into the dappled shade of the forest, she felt uncomfortably like she were being watched. Looking around she saw nothing, so she keep going for a few more steps in the hopes that the sensation would pass, but if anything it grew stronger. She stopped, peering nervously into the murky light of the jungle she called out softly, "Theo?"

Father Jonathan:
Looking toward the town, from where he could only just make out the faint sound of gunfire, Father Johnathan grimaced.

"That will be the drunks from the tavern again, wasting ammunition hunting some shadow." He shook his head in disgust, "The fools trip over themselves to in their eagerness to bravely tackle the beasts they imagine to they see by light of day, but once night descends and the real demons stalk the woods, not one of those men will leave the safety of his house to as much as lift a finger to help his fellow townsfolk."

John stopped for a moment, his knapsack full, and his machete on his side, dangling slightly. From behind him shots were fired. Some men trying to prove how manly they are. Shaking his head, and truly feeling sorry for this town, he continued on.
He couldn't save everyone.
There was no point in trying, risking his own life so they could spend one more day of existence. If they truly needed help, then God would help them.
But no, God has this perfect little loophole, doesn't he? God helps those who help themselves.
Fuck, you simpyl take God out of the equation, and it's really simple; help yourself. Fuck everyone else. They help themselves, you help yourself.
In a world where you have become a meal for some other creature, that's how things were.
Leaving the edge of the city, he began to walk into the forest.

Theo grasped the tree branch above Teril, as soon as he heard her coming he decided to run up the tree. He looked down, praying she wouldn't look up.

Phobe

Dressed in a almost sheer blue dress with a tight bodice. With a dark hooded cape over her shoulders, Phobe is walking around the large mansion she has decided to visit this night. Several of the upper rooms are burnt or damaged.

The grounds surrounding it are lacking in care and covered in trees and bushes. Scanning over the grounds from the main door, I could see a light in the distance. Hear things moving in the trees.

Turning the knob it didn't move, locked. Studying the door, doors had never stopped her before. Pushing on the wood, and leaning hard it flew open and hit the metal wall guard with a thud.

Traveling has made me tired and dawn is comming fast.
Walking through the first floor, I scan for a staircase down. Finding another door, I try the knob and it turns. Looking into the dark, I see what I am looking for, a staricase, down into the cellar of this great mansion.

Moving down the stairs, like a breeze, I look around and see broken and wrecked boards from the support beams. In the corner There is a small door. *Smiling* I walk to it and open it. Moving inside, I look to see if there are any windows, and notice there are none.

There is a large solid wooden table in the center, running my fingers over the surface it is smooth and cold. Looking around the room I see a closet, open and full. Looking inside I see a set of pillows and thick blanket. Grabbing them and throwing the blanket on the table, and placing the pillow ontop. Closing the door and pushing a small solid oak table infront of the door, I move back to the table and lay down and relax for the forcoming morning.

Teril:
She saw and heard nothing, but somehow she ?knew' someone was there, someone was watching. Leaning against the trunk of the tree she had stopped beneath, she forced herself to remain calm. She closed her eyes for a moment and rested her head against the tree: this is foolish she thought angrily to herself, there's no one here! Upon reopening her eyes she froze in terror at the at the sight of a figure, partially obscured by foliage, in the tree above her.

Theo knew he had been spotted, was he going to run or stay was his only question. Did Teril have an army with her? Perhaps it was a trap? Theo spoke, "Teril I know you can see me, and I can explain, but not here not now." Theo eyed a nearby tree, he would have to figure out what branches to leap to before he did it, or else he might fall.

Teril:
"Theo?" It was more of a relieved observation then a real question. "I was afraid you were a werebe..." she stopped mid-word, "I, I mean one our werebeasts." She finished uncertainly, it seemed bizarre to be talking to him like this, as though he was still the same Theo - but of course he was still the same she reminded herself.

Noticing him looking over at the next tree she spoke urgently, "You can't stay up in the trees Theo, what if someone sees you?! They'll assume that you're a were and shoot you!"

She didn't know, good!! Theo thought as he came down from the tree. "I though you were the creature, come back to finish me off. Seems like someone must have really riled him up eh?"

Teril:
Theo obviously thought she hadn't realized the truth, she was about to open her mouth to correct him when it occurred to her that she had no idea what to say to him about it. It would be better to speak about it later, at least that way they could talk in the safety of the church rather than out in the woods.

"I think we'd better head back to the church Theo," she suggested, "it's getting late in the afternoon, and Father John will be worried if we're not back in time to help prepare supper and get the towns folk settled in for the night."

"Your right, let's head back. Are you alirght by the way? That whole place seem to erupt when that guy began firing."

Teril:
"I'm ok." She replied with a smile, as they started to head through the forest to the path leading to the church. Then, remembering that he had been wounded when he ran from the bar, she looked at him in concern, "Are you? I thought you,...might have been injured."

She must have known the beastman got shot. "No I'm alright, I was just riled up." Luckily the wound wasnt' bleeding into the shirt he stole. He smiled back, not trying to seem concerned with his wound, but he wanted to get back to the church so he could tend to in properly without anone noticing it.
