Darmus By Night

Thorne:

After walking back to the cabin, Thorne sat down, leaning against a tree. She let her eyes drift shut, meaning only to meditate for a short while. She soon fell into a light doze, too deep to be called a trance, too light to dream in.

Kiahra:

Kiahra stood and watch what was going on around her with the people...

The mage girl was teaching Cervie how to do magic..mmmm Kiahra said to herself .. he wants a famailar...He got one she said as she give herself a little wicked smile...Cervie always was a pest..Might as well give him what he needs she said to her self laughing:

Kiahra watched contently as everyone around her was doing things in their own way.. Kiahra wonder what kind of mischeif she could get in today???

OOC: Raven, here's the idea I discussed with you.

Orion had been reclining in the grove now for hours, waiting for the call to action. For the first time in a while he had been at peace, not brooding over the events of the past. His tranquil state of mind was interuppted when a frog jumped onto his chest and blink nerviously. Orion examined the amphibion and smiled, "Hello little friend, how are you today?" He was startled when the frog spoke back, "A lot better than you fuck face!" "You can talk?" "Maybe or perhaps you're just that crazy, eh Orion?" "What is the meaning of this?" "Have you forgotten why your hear? Or how you got hear?" "No, nor do I really care right now." "Let me tell you a little story then, do you remember what Scarlett told you the night before you died?" Orion sorted through his memories for a few minutes before recalling the night before his death....

Orion entered the house and smiled at his beautiful wife, handing her a boquet of roses he had cut for her. She smiled back, her lips redder than the petals of the roses. He held her tightly, kissing her forehead as her smile quickly faded away. "Orion, I have something important to tell you." Orion placed more butterfly kisses on her face as he replied to her in between smooches, "Can't it wait an hour or so, I just want to enjoy you right now." Scarlett stopped him, "No, listen, this is something really important and it's going to be hard for me to say it."

Orion was now a little starteld, "What is it dear? Is everything alright?" Scarlett's eyes started to well up with tears, "...no...I ruined our marriage..." "What's wrong" "...last week when you were away on the fishing expediation....I .......I stayed the night....with another." Orion's mouth dropped to the floor as his heart sank deep into his chest. After the intial shock he tried to sort things out, "Alright Scarlett, let's discuss this, we can move past it." "no....no we can't" "Why?" "Because now I'm in love with him." Orion angrily shot up from his seat and flipped the table over. He began trashing the house in a rage. "WHO IS HE!! WHY!??!! WHY HAVE YOU DONE THIS TO ME!!!" "His name is Cervantes, he is a pirate that was passing through the area." "A PIRATE!!! ALL THEY DO IS GO FROM TOWN TO TOWN SLEEPING WITH WOMEN!! HOW COULD YOU?" "He's just so strong and such a warrior. He told me he once slayed a giant with a dull wooden spoon." Orion was on a rampage now, he reached into his closet and pulled out his grandfather's sword, an artifact he thought more of as a decoration rather than a weapon. He screamed back to her, "YOU WANT A DAMN WARRIOR I'll SHOW YOU A WARRIOR!!" Scarlett put her hands on his shoulders, "Don't be ridiculous, you haven't trained in the ways of a swordsman, you'll surely make a fool of yourself." Orion brushed her off like dandruff and started coldly into her eyes, "Haven't I already done that hear today?" He began to walk out of the house and stopped, turning back to Scarlett, "You have lead a comfortable life here, you haven't had to work a day in your life while I've been away weeks at a time just to maintain this lifestly for you. When I return from killing the biggest pirate I can find at the bar, I want you our of this house! Never come back here again!" "Fine," she answered, "Cervantes will take care of me!!" He exited the house, slamming the door so hard one of the front windows of the house shattered. Orion headed toward the bar by the ports to seal his fate.

Orion walked into the bar, still fuming he ignored the gestrues of his friends at the bar. He approached a large pirate who looked as if he handn't lived an hour of his life without being close to a set of weights. The pirate laughed hard as beer dribbled down the corners of his mouth. Orion approached the man and poured his bear over the muscular pirate's head. "I challenge you to a duel to the death." The pirate quickly punched Orion to the face, "Are you kidding me! Look at yourself!!!" Orion felt something going down the side of his face, he reached his hand up to realize it was blood, the blow had broken his nose. Orion rose to his feet and spat at the pirate.

Hours later the two men where outside the bar, on the beach, as everyone at the port looked down at the fight. It was over it minutes really, Orion lunged forward with the blade, cutting open the pirates thigh but he soon felt the cold steel enter his body, crushing his ribs. He then felt a second blade enter his back, the pirate had pulled out a dagger to seal the deal. Orion fell to the ground, convulsing as the pirate walked back to his vessel to join his friends. Scarlett had run onto the beach and cradled Orion for a moment, "Oh no, Orion, you shouldn't have done that." "Too late now, when is the wedding?" Scarlett was silent for a minute, "He didn't even remember you did he?" She knodded up and down as tears whelled up in her eyes. "I'm afraid you've died for nothing dear." "No, I died for love. Just remember that I will always love you and I will always protect you." Orion expired in his wife's arms as she began to cry. She had disappeared from the town the next day, never returning.

Orion awoke to find the frog still sitting on his chest, snickering. He spoke slowly to the creature, "Alright you foul little creature, you've succeded in ruining my day, now will you tell me why I am here?" The frog began laughing, "the master will inform you soon!" The beast disappeared into the woods as Orion remained on his back, in tears as his fingers fumbled around the wound in his chest, simulating the blade's path. "....all for her...."

OOC2: Sorry this is terribly long, I got caught up in it and didn't think it was proper to split the story up.

OOC: Sorry it took so long for me to get back here. No internet access for a week, and then computer problems when I did get back online, but all is well now. ;)

IC: Val strode out of the cabin, buckling his sword around his waist and pulling his cloak over his head as he did so. The day would definatly be long, and he had to prepare his horse. "Gather your things people, we shall be leaving shortly!" he hollared out, for all to hear. Making sure the armor of his horse was on tight, the saddle bags secure, Val hopped onto his horse, and wiated........

OOC: Val, can you and I discuss ideas regarding religon on Daramus? I know you sent me some info, but I have more questions.

IC: Orion stopped playing with his wound and noticed Valdimer had returned and was ready for the quest. Orion rose from his resting spot and walked over to the cabin, joining Valdimer. "Ready when you are."

Thorne:

OOC: Welcome Back Val.

IC: Awakened by the sound of Valdimer's voice, Thorne sat up blinking. She'd only meant to meditate, but apperantly her body had protested. Getting up from her sitting position, she stretched cautiously, working loose the stiffness the ackward position had imbued into her body. Taking her hair out of it's braid, she shook loose the leaves that a mild wind had kicked into the tresses. Too recently awakened to bother putting it back up in her usual twist, Thorne settled for tying it back in apony tail and sweeping it over her shoulder. Hopefully that would eliminate enough of it's length to not let it get caught on the saddle. She looked at Valdimer and smiled slightly, the magic that she had used letting her relax her grip on her powers a bit. "How far are we away from the dragon's lair?" She asked as she hauled her saddle bags up and finished tightening their fastenings. Walking over to Talesin, she stowed the saddlebags carefully on the tack, balancing the weight carefully. She then put the pad and saddle on Tal, following up by reattatching the bit to the other side of the bridle from it's position dangling from a ring on the horse's tack.

Valdimer

" I do believe it should be another day's ride." he said, returning Thorne's smile. "The day will be hard, but in the end, if we come out of this, we will be put in the pages of history." he said, confidently. "Where is Cervantes?" Val asked Thorne........

Thorne:

Suppressing a snicker, Thorne pointed out Cervantes, still with Bubzy. "He's asleep, with his new familiar." She chuckled and mounted up, gathering her reins and lengthening the stirrups. "The magic he used probably drained him alot more than it would have me. I got the impression that he hasn't used it in a while." With that, she slipped on her gloves, and looked over at Valdimer, her face looking paler than it normally did thanks to being seen in direct sunlight.

Bubzy:

Zipping through the air, going in circles around Cervantes's head, the little fly was chanting. "Zugar, zugar, zugar!!!" It noticed the walking sweat buckets walking around so zipped over to the cold clammy one. "Zugar!" Bubzy cried out, demandingly as he zipped past the clammy one's nose. Zipping around in the air, just out of reach, Bubzy waited quite impatiently on Clam-boy's reply.

Cervantes:

Cervantes continued to saw logs.

Kiahra:

Kiahra Walks up to Cervie and says' wake up you ass as she throws cold water on him....

Looking at his little bug she puts a sugar cube on cervies chest so his little bug can eat..... Kiahra walks away snickering

OOC: Bubzy??? LMAO

IC: " A familar? Hmmm. We'll launch it at the dragon first, for a distraction." he said with a snicker. Pulling his cloak as close to his body as he could, Val looked to Thorne. "The stone is the most important thing. That is what I will be going after. I'm going to count on you to keep that dragon off my backside, if only for a moment." he said, making sure everything was secure on his horse, and his sword buckled tight.........

Thorne:

Securing everything to her saddle, Thorne looked up at Valdimer. "Oh Really? I'm supposed to deal with a Dragon? I thought you just wanted me along for odd conversations." Her voice was deadpan but her eyes showed a sparkle of mischief. The nap had done her well, and she was ready to face what come. Be it dragon, fly, or vampire. She nudged Talesin to move closer to Cervantes, and came up next to him. Taking a deep breath and leaning down, Thorne gave a loud, sharp whistle close to Cervantes' ear.

Valdimer

Val looked at her kind of oddly for a moment. "Odd conversation? Well, we've had a few of those already, I thought we'd just move right on to the killing. You know, skip the pleansentries and all that." he said, jokingly. Looking behind him, he gave Orion a nodd. Giving his horse a nudge, he let it move around a bit, getting it ready for the journy ahead.....

Cervantes:

"Gah! Booby trap!" Cervie muttered as he awoke with a start, not even the water Kiahra had been enough to wake him up the first time around. But Thorne's whistle RIGHT in his EAR sure was! He bolted straight up, setting looking around in a "What the fuck?" type manner, then eyed Thorne sharply. Bubzy buzzed about, spouting nonsence. "Mize zugar! Youz ruindz mize zugar! Wez hatez eet, wez hatez it foreverz!"

Thorne:

Feeling her lip twitch into a slight smile, Thorne looked at Cervantes. "Morning Cervantes, nice imitation of Sleeping Beauty." With that, she moved Talesin away and started tucking her hair into the hood of her cloak, keeping it hidden from veiw. When she was done, she arranged the cloak to cover her, and pulled the hood up. Nodding to Valdimer, she ignored the statement about killing and gathered her reins. "Ready when you are."

Cervantes:

"Sleeping beauty? She was a bad lay..." Cervie muttered as he got to his feet, swatting at a particularly annoying fly that was buzzing about his head. he walked over to he mare he'd stolen and mounted it, easy as you please. Looking about, the fly still bugging him, Cervie kicked the horse into motion. "Meet you there Val..." He shot back over his shoulder.

Thorne:

Arching an eyebrow at Cervantes' comment, Thorne let Talesin have his head and urged him forward, setting him to a pace not quite what Cervantes was going on that mare, but fast enough to keep him in sight. She looked back at Valdimer and then concentrated on memorizing her spells.

Lavin Ragingbear

OOC: Dammit, I went to preview the post and it all got screwed up... Okay, let's try this again, I'm gonna hop in here like Ravenloft suggested, here goes. Sorry this is kinda long, but it Is my intro post :)

IC:

Lavin cantered his horse along the wooded path, the grisly scene he had come upon an hour earlier still fresh in his mind's eye. He urged his horse into a gallop. Horse and rider were a well matched set, the man would have looked overly large on any other steed, and any other rider would have looked rediculously small on the massive clydesdale.

The stallion was an awesome specimen of a powerful breed. It stood nearly twenty hands tall, midnight black other than its breed's characteristic white facial markings and silky, white, long-haired socks. The man who rode it, bareback, was a sight to inspire fear in many souls. He stood at nearly a full seven feet, his heavily muscled shoulders wider than an axe handle. He wore black leather pants with matching knee-high boots. His torso was bare, showing numerous scars criss-crossing his chest, and chiefly among them a half-healed stab wound directly above his heart, a wound that should have killed any man. Long silver hair and crimson headband whipped in the air behind him, as did the bearskin cloak he wore. Two massive swords were sheathed crossways over his shoulders, each larger than most men could wield singly. His face was as scarred as the rest of him, his odd red eyes haunted and introspective. As he rode his mouth moved, but his words were banished by the speed at which his horse travelled.

"I have to find them, I will not rest until this is done."
Why are you so eager to find them?
"They are killers."
And killers deserve death? If that is so you shall die a thousandfold times.
"I have never killed an innocent. They've killed a woman, a child, men with families to support."
You've killed many men with families to support. How are you any different than they? Any less deserving of death?
"I never said that I wasn't deserving of death, I yearn for death, but I have to keep moving, and this is something I will do while I move."
Oh yes, you have to keep moving. You have to stay ahead of the Royal Guards, lest they hang you for what you've done, for what you are.. You're a danger to everyone around you, to all who cross your path.
"I wish they would catch me and hang me, I would welcome the peace of death."
Death will bring you no peace my "friend". You are damned by your crimes, and more importantly, by your choosing of your own free will.
"I know... But I must bring justice to these foul bastards.."
Oh noble knight, thou art so brave and valiant, so pure! Vicious laughter rang out through his mind.

"Quiet, I think I'm getting close, I don't want them to hear you." The laughter only increased, and the man spurred his steed faster, trying as much to escape the voice as to catch the butchers.

Valdimer

"I'm right behind you!" Val yelled, giving his horse a good jab to the sides. Stonewall brought his two front hooves up in the air, and lept. He took off like lightning. The dark shadow followed behind him, Val sped, catching up with Cervantes and Thorne in now time. The cloak flapped behind him, and he rode alongside Cervantes and Thorne, the dragon and the stone on the front of his mind.........

Cervantes:

After a good hours ride, Cervantes pulled his horse to a stop and looked back at the party. "Someone's coming this way... I can smell em..."

Valdimer

Pulling on the riegns to his horse, Val came to a halt next to Cervantes. "What is it? I sense no heartbeat....."

Val waited in atisipation, his hand at his sword.......

Thorne:

Bringing Talesin to a halt, Thorne looked at Cervantes and Valdimer. "Is there another route to the dragon? What about through another part of the forest?" She inwardly cringed at the idea of another slaughter.

Valdimer

Looking around, taking in his surrounding, he looked to Thorne. "No. We either wait, or keep going. Cervantes.....what do you sense? Tell me..." Val said, waiting for his reply.......

Kylissa

pulling up on FireHeart, Kylissa waited with the others for the approach of the one Cervantes sensed. She was good at keeping out of everyone's way and keeping quiet. So far everyone had mostly forgotten she was there. Thats the way she liked it anyway.

Stepping FireHeart under a tree, she folded the shadows about herself, giving herself a protective invisibility again to await the new arrivial.

Orion followed the group closley, on his own undead steed. Hearing Cervantes' warning, he withdrew his sword, preparing for the worst.
