Dear D,
I think I have been going about some of this totally wrong. A-girl is not the enemy and I should not be out to kill her. She is, indeed, the part that probably needs my love the most. Sorry, I messed that up.
But that's something you need to figure out too. Both why this part of you is so hurt, and that others are going to - even with their best intentions - make mistakes with your feelings. Yes, sometimes we hurt each other even when we don't mean to.
You need to learn to forgive others, but even harder, you need to learn to forgive yourself. I can tell you, from experience, that this is even more difficult than forgiving others. But I can also tell you, when you really do it, you will find that you can acheive most anything you want.
The other thing I've figured out is that you are living in fear. Thanks, John, I sorta had realized that, but you pointed it out clearly. I'll try to stop adding to that fear. But you are ultimately the one who has to realize that, yeah, life is scary, but it's still the best game in town. Sometimes you are going to fail. But you are lucky: there is always a safety net in our family. There was for me. There was for my Dad. There is for you too. I hope you never really need it, but I promise you it's there to catch you if you do, or even just a place to grab hold occationally and steady yourself.
In the long run, I think you have incredible potential. This isn't a statement about money or fame or even changing the world and doing good. It's a statement about you finding those things that make your heart soar and you mind race with excitement and passion.
Love
Dad.
