Deathlance of the Rising Sun

Looking at Caramon, Tanis frowned. He had indeed changed since Tanis had last seen him. The old Caramon would never had done such a thing. It appeared as if Raistlin might of rubbed off on him more then Tanis realized. Calling to a wondering serving maid he ordered a mug of mead and a bowl of rabbit stew. It would be good to have something in his belly again. Looking at Caramon and Flint he begain, "So why are you here Caramon? It has been a very long time since I last laid eyes on you and well to be honest old friend you seem to have...changed." He waited for Caramon to speak as the barmaid begain to go fetch his order...

Flint

Plonking into the chair provided by Caramon, Flint stared down at the table he was getting to old for this people following them, crazy mages, all in a long list of adventures one after another. All old flint was a warm fire an ale and a helping of Otik spiced potatoes. No not since he had meet the Half Elf had his life ever gone the way he wanted.

Bah he thought, likely he'd got himself killed without me to look after him. Likely Tass was getting himself killed now. Everybody needing old Flint to pull them out of the fire. Well he'd do what could, these lads needed a cool head to keep them out of trouble.

Caramon

Caramon looked over at Tanis. " I am here looking for Raistlin. After our group had seperated, me and Raistlin had gone off on our own. He gained even more powerful spellbooks then before, his greed for knowledge never diminishing. One night , Me and Raistlin had rescued a small group of people that were being held by a few of the tattered remnants of the Dark Ladies army. In the middle of the night, Raistlin got up from bed and went outside. I pretended sleep till he left the room, then slowly followed him. Raistlin went into the woods till he came to a small clearing. He started carving symbols into the ground. I came upon him just when he must have finished it.

A swirling white mist was surrounding him. I called to him to see if he was ok. He turned to me, with his usual smirk "I am fine brother, finer than I have ever been with you. You may not follow where I go. Even with your pure heart to protect you, there is great evil where I go that would seek to corrupt you. Begone fool, go back with those peasants. I am off to seek my destiny." With those words, Raistlin dissappeared in the mist. I tried to enter, but I could not, a force held me back. Once the mist was gone, there was no sign of Raistlin. I had a job to do, so I got the people to the nearest village and have now come in search of my brother. He still needs me, like he always did in the old days, but I want my satisfaction of him for leaving me alone. "

"I have hardened my heart from feelings. This is a hard world. I saw evidence of that everywhere that I traveled on my way here. Maybe pain and suffering is the root on which the world was grown. I do not know, but I doubt if I can ever be the happy go lucky adventurer that I once was. "

Rand

Keeping Zag's directions in mind , Rand walks up to the inn where the companions went . He walks in the doorway, and immeditately goes to the bar. After ordering drinks , he scans the room with the reflection of his metal cup. He can see that the three friend are sitting together over in one corner. A short young man comes hurriedly into the Inn and sits at the table closest to the bar, bringing that tables total to 8 . Rand overhears the conversation that takes place.

"Did you see what that big man did to me? He picked me up in the air, chair and all, and then pitched me out. That hurt. "

"Ah, he does not look that big to me. I bet you I could take him. "

"Um, Zedrel, look at the size of his arms, those are bigger than your legs. "

"Yeah, you are right, they are. But all of us together can take them out."

"Yes, lets do it. Lets show them who is tougher.Come on. "

The eight companions get up from their table and move purposefully to the table where Tanis , Flint and Caramon are. The short man talks to them "Your big friend here, just got you all into a world of hurt. Me and my friends are going to make you bleed. And when we are done, you will bleed some more. '"

Rand walks up behind the men and quietly calls out a sleep spell. The eight men fall instantly to the group, piling one on top of the other. Rand looks over at the companions "My , this inn has much need for pest control. I thought that 8 to 3 odds were a little high, so you might need a hand. My name is Rand. "

Tanis sat in silence listeing to Caramon. Nodding as Caramon finished he sat in silence for a few moments. Just then the serving maid came back with Tanis's food and drink. Smiling at her he takes a sip of his mead. " I understand where what you mean Caramon, but that is no reason to lose hope and to go and harden your heart to your fellow man. Your brothers path has never been yours Caramon, you know that in your heart even if you refuse to admit it. " Knowing full well by saying this to him the old Caramon would take it in and work it over in his mind, but this new caramon he wasnt so sure about. Just then a batch of thugs decided to barge in to thier conversasion.

"Your big friend here, just got you all into a world of hurt. Me and my friends are going to make you bleed. And when we are done, you will bleed some more. '" A shorter man said to them. Tanis turned and counted the quickly to see what his odd where when they all suddenly fell asleep. There standing behind them was a man in red robes.

"My , this inn has much need for pest control. I thought that 8 to 3 odds were a little high, so you might need a hand. My name is Rand. " He says to them as Tanis stands up. Hand on his swords hilt. "You must of been the one following us. What do you what?" Tanis seemed to reconize him from some where but couldnt place where....

OOC: Sorry.. Been away for 3 days.. But I'm back.

IC:

Raistlin was at the bar, sipping lightly on his mead and eating a single piece of bread as he turned over the idea of all his old group coming together. He finished the mead and headed to his room, just about the same time Caramon, Tanis the Half-Elven, and Flint came into the Inn.

"Shimph"

The word was soft spoken, the door to his room clicking as the lock spell was reversed the room open to him. Raistlin turned the handle and stepped in, discovering the Kender sound asleep on the bed.

"He must have been bored out of his mind to fall asleep before I came back."

Raistlin just chuckled, climbing into his own bed and turning out the light. He golden orbed looked to the ceiling, wondering when he'd meet his brother again, wondering if Caramon was ok or not, wondering if Tanis and Flint would enjoy this whole new adventure they were about to embark on against the Dark Queen herself....

Flint eyed the new comer suspiciously, nothing new there he eyed everybody that way.
" I think we could have handled them ourselves. If your after a reward, you'll get what they had coming."

Rand

Rand looked at the companions. He did not blame them for being suspicious. "I am just a fellow adventurer, looking for some interesting things to do. I saw you all meet and thought you were an odd combination. Dwarfs are rarely seen in the company of humans and half-elves are hard to find. Plus your big friend over here looks like he has been in a scrap or two. Overall, you look like people that are always looking for a quest or something like that. I was bored with what I was doing, and my companions left much to be desired. So I am looking for a new group of people to be with , people that are competant, just like I am. I have much skill in the arts of magic and you seem to be lacking that. May I join you ? "

Tanis looked closer then his eyes widened. "I know you now, your Justarius apraintice [sp?]. What was your name again, Guerrand al'Thon wasnt it?" Setting back down he motioned towards a nerby seat that had opened up after the small confrontation. " Now what con we do for you? I am sure that it was you who was following us so please do not insult us by saying it wasn't." Taking a sip of his mead he looked at the man again. "And I am sure theres a reason your here besides what you claim. You do not live as old as we are and not pick these things out...."... takking anouther sip of his mead he watched the man, waiting for his reply. Surely Caramon would be able to knock him out intime before he wispered anything and if not the good old Flint would try his best to make him regret trying anything funny....

Rand

"I am not sure how you would know about my master, since these things are guarded well in the mage community. Oh well, I was sent by my master to make the aquaintance of one, Raistlin Majere. He is becoming a powerful mage, and my master wants to find out what his intentions are as far as using his powers. Do not worry, I am not here to harm your friend. As you can see by my robes , that I am interested in Neutrality, not straight good or straight evil. I heard that you three are sometimes traveling companions with Raistlin so I thought I would try to meet you all first. "
Rand looks over at Tanis waiting for a response.

Tanis nodded. Well at least he was being honest. "There's a lot someone can learn when your as old as I am and have seen what I've seen. At let's just say the Conclave isnt always as well guarded as you mage's would like to think." Taking anouther sip of his mead he continued, And as for you joining with us to find Raist, well Caramons the man you need to talk to there. Me and Flint are just here on our way north.".....

Learned, ha!. Not learned half what he should. Thought Flint. Keeping his eye on Caramon as the newcomer spoke of Raistlin, Flint saw a shadow pass over the young mans face, something had happen between the twins he was sure. Downing his drink, Flint frowned.

" Damned stupid Kender, keep me up one night with incessant chatter, next with worry he'll bring the watch to haul us away. " he mumbled under his breath.
Catching the last of the conversations, Flint spoke up.

" Another hot head after adventure, Don't you know life throws up enough trouble without looking for it. As for Raistlin you go looking for him when he don't want, you'll have trouble all right. By Reorx Bread you mark me. "

Caramon

Looking at the newcomer , Caramon's face darkened as he heard Raistlins name. He had seen that this man had some powerful spells seeing him knock out those men. Maybe this man could help Caramon take down Raistlin if he could not control his powers. Caramon had known that Raistlin always gravitated towards the darker side , but if he went all the way; then Caramon may have to stop him. It would be good to have a strong mage with them. " Ah, If you are looking for my brother, then you best stay around me. I am trying to find him myself and set some things arright. "

Rand

Rand was happy to see that the big man had accepted him on face value. He looked that type to be strong in a battle, but weak in the wits. Rand smiled over at the dwarf, his babbling and grumbling had been documented in his paperwork about him. It was good to see that the council could still get some accurate information about people. Now it was up to him to do the same with Raistlin Majere. "Thank you , my large friend, I accept the invitation. May I pay for the next round of drinks so that we may all get to know each other better?" Rand motions over for a barmaid and places his order for drinks on him. He turns back to the companions.

Tanis looked over at Flint as he spoke. Yep that was the same old Flint, gruff on the outside, a teddy bear on the inside. Taking anouther sip he listed to Caramon speak with this Rand person. Tanis knew very little of this man but what he did know was good at least. It payed to be a diplomat sometime's, Tanis thought tohim self as Caramon agreed to let Rand join them. Tanis wasnt to sure about that idea though but one thing about Caramon very few people realized was that though he seemed a bit slow that wasnt the entire case. Yes he was a bit slow but that was only because he thought out EVERYTHING before he decided to do something. Taking anouther sip of his mead his mind wondered off. Where was Tass? He still hadnt shown up and worse yet now Tanis figured that Raistlin was also here in town. Yep this would be a very interesting adventure if no one killed anyone else in thier little group...

Caramon

Caramon graciously accepted another cup of ale. He began to regale Rand with the story in which he almost drowned Flint. He is starting to feel a little comfortable around this Rand character. Rand had shared some of the stories of his childhood, which showed that he worked hard for what he had. Caramon respected a man like that who had been given a silver spoon, but still did his best to be a man. Caramon quaffed some more ale, holding his mug out to the maid to bring him more. As long as Rand was buying, he was going to drink as much as his body would allow.

Rand

Rand looks over at the companions. "So when was the last time that you saw Raistlin? I would imagine that he is here in town according to my sources. How best we meet up with him? I am anxious to meet him. It is rare that I met someone of equal power."

Tanis looked over at Rand. "Well I haven't seen him at all since I've been here. If it was up to me, I wouldnt either....." He goes back to sipping his mead......

Caramon

Caramon looked over at Rand. "I say lets give it one more day. When he is close, I will be able to feel his presence. We have always had that ablility, being twins and all. If he has not shown up by then, we will try to go to the Tower together. I doubt if we will get very far though. That is an alltogether scary place. "

Flint

"Bah the only thing you can sense that close is food. There not a man alive can bear that forest, and your a fool even to say it. Best leave that blasted brother of your to his own fate. He sure paid the price for, we all did." Downing the last of his drink Flint rose up.
" I'm off to my room, If that doorknob of a kender turns up, he can pay my share out of my pouch." With that he stormed up the stairs.

Rand

Rand smiled as he watched the back of the dwarf as he hobbled up the stairs. He was the most erascible dwarf he had ever met, but seemed to be good for some laughs. Rand looked over at the other two men. "I agree with Flint, it is time to turn in for the night. I am going up to my room. If Raistlin should appear please wake me up, I am in room 6. Have a good night all. I will see you in the morning. " With a bow, Rand put a small pile of coins on the table and climbed the stairs to his room.

He opened the door, putting his cloak on the peg on the door. He looked at himself in the mirrored glass. It had been a good meeting he felt, he could grow to like these people. They had good hearts all of them. He took a drink from a cup of water and sat down on his bed. He took out the mirrored corner, releasing his familiar from the mirror. "So Zag, what do you think so far? "

Zag cocks his head at Rand."I think that things are going just fine, you should find the mage soon I would imagine. Dont cross that big man though. I can feel a lot of repressed rage in him. "

"I agree Zag, his demeanor is placid, but you can see his mind is whirling at much faster speeds. Here, I will open the window so you may go get yourself some food. Remember, do not shake the seawater out on me when you come back. "

Rand watched as Zag flew out of the window. Then Rand turned back towards the door. He chanted a small string of words, throwing some herbs into the air. A medium size shape starts to take shape in the middle of the room. Turning its unblinking eyes, an earth elemental looks back at Rand. "Your job is to protect my sleep. If anyone tries to disturb my sleep, bar the door and wake me up. Do not attack anyone without my say so. Do you understand? " The mound of stone and sand nodded its head and turned to watch the door. Rand undressed to his smallclothes, then laid down in the bed to get some much deserved rest.

STURM BRIGHTBLADE

Sturm stood on the helm of the boat as the sailed to Palanthas. He had been practicing his swordplay all day and had worked up quite a sweat in doing so. He smiled as the wind rushed into his face, salt water splashing him every now and then. Then he saw it, on the far horizan, there was Palanthas........

TANIS HALF ELVEN

Tanis smiled at Flint as he walked up the stair's. Most of thier little rag tag group Flint liked. But not Raistlin. Flint took a instant dis like to him. Being brought back to reality he nods to Rand as he head's off to his room. Waiting till he was up the stairs, Tanis turned to Caramon and wispered. " Are you sure your ready to see you brother? The last I knew was that you and him was ...at ends. I hear these type's of thing friend. There are after all a few perks for being a diplomat." Smiling he took anouther sip of his mead, watching Caramon take in every thing he had just said.....

Caramon

Caramon looked over at Tanis. "You are right my friend. Our parting was not amicable. However, I have to confront him. I am disturbed by the things that I have heard he has done. Not only was I his protector all those years, but I was also his conscience. He seems to be turning more and more to evil. I cannot allow my brother to go that way. He is my flesh and blood, I will not allow him to wreck our family name. It may just be me and him, but I am pround to be a Majere. Well, Tanis, I have drained enough ale tonight. I will need what little wits that I have around me tommorrow. Good night my friend. " Caramon squeezes Tanis shoulder as he lumbers up to bed.

TANIS HALF ELVEN

Tanis nodded at his old friend. Downing what was left of his mead, he turned and headed up to his room. Laying his pack and other belongings beside his bed, he went to the window to look out. As he stared out at the sea and breathed in the crisp air he stood there. Then he blinked. Had he seen something on the far horizan. It looked somewhat like a Knight Of The Rose's boat's. Hmm probally just a dispatch, nothing to worry and care about. Tanis went back to his door, locking it securely he laid down. Just before he dozed off he could of sworn he had heard a kingfisher some where out in the night....

Rand

The light of the rising sun pierced his room, sending prisms of color over the walls. Rand opened his eyes, stretching his long limbs. He sat up in the bed and looked at the earth elemental. "Thank you for guarding my rest, you may go now. " With a sound of shifting earth, the elemental dissappeared into the floor. Rand got changed into a new red robe and washed his hands and face. He opened up his door and went to the common room. He talked to the innkeeper and had a large meal started for him and the others. He gave the innkeeper some coins and sat down to wait for the others.
