Deathlance of the Rising Sun

Caramon

Caramon watched with amusement as Flint tried to work his way through the thick crowd. He went up to the dwarf and said "Allow me" . He went if front of the dwarf and put a nasty expression on his face. The crowd in front of him melted out of his way. "Come on , follow me. I will make a trail through all these people to get to the tower. "

She smiled as Caramon kissed her hand. She didn't say anything to his compliment but it pleased her nonetheless. She became aware of Flint's stare as he seemed to give her the once over. He just shook his head said something before heading out into the crowd. Caramon soon followed. She glanced at Rand curiousity still strong within her. Shrugging she turned and followed her other two new companions.

Rand

Rand watched as their new companion followed the others. He wondered if she had ever had formal training in her powers or if she was a wilder. He sensed great potential in her. He planned on asking her a few questions later if he was able to get her alone. Rand took out his mirror. He called forth Zag. Zag came out of the mirror at his bidding.

"Zag, take a scout around the city. We are on the way to the tower, but I want you to keep an eye out to see if you can find the mage. Maybe speak to the other birds around here and see if they will help you. Now off you go. " Rand watched as the seagull took off on his quest. He looked at the awed expressions of the people around him, as he had seemingly pulled a bird out of a mirror. He smiled at them and then followed his companions.

oocc No name yet think of one latter

The dragon landed well out side of sight from the city of Palanthas. Wings beating the dust up in a cloud. As the dust settled a human man strode out. Golden blonde hair and eyes Blue , around 6 foot tall, athletic build. He was dressed in well fitting breast plate, a short tunic, knee high boots of an animal long extinct and a huge two handed sword few men could lift. He began to long walk towards the city, with a stamina no human could match.
Arriving at the gate he brought no comments or extra looks from the watch and strode in unopposed. Looking up he could not see but could feel the tower, it's power like a beacon to all magical creatures. He smiled a rueful smile, The magic of men had indeed grown in the years during the exile, but there were still thing only a few still remembered.

Elly hummed softly as they traveled towards the tower. Completely lost in thought she didn't pay much attention to her companions. Maybe Rand could help her become a true mage? She could sense that he was quite powerful in the arts. She wondered where he had recieved his training. She also began to wonder how old he was. He didn't look to old but with mages looks could very well be decieving. She glanced at Caramon, he was also a mystery to her, he was big and strong but unlike most men like him there was intelligence in his eyes. And then there was Flint, definitly a unique individual. He had an attitude that was all his own, but she sensed he did care for the two men he traveled with. She smiled, this may prove to be her best adventure yet.

Tanis stood there stairing at Sturm. It had been many years since Tanis had last seen him and he didn't look like he had changed much. Maybe gotten a little bit bigger but thats it. "Sturm, old friend, what are you doing here?" "It seem's Tanis that I am to be your 'escort'. I am not sure for what but I will follow my orders nevertheless." "Um thats great and all but why did they asign you instead of someone else?" Smiling slightly Sturm stepped forward. "Because we are old friends remember? Or has all that diplomat hogwash gotten to you." "No, I'm me all right. But by chance do you know what your supposed to be escorting me to or from or what ever?" "No Tanis I dont."

Just then a chill wind blew across the room. The door flew open and standing in black robes in front of them was a man. His hood was pulled low over his face so Tanis nor Sturm could make out any features. "Raistlin?" Tanis wispered. "No dear Tanis. It is not Raistlin," the voice said from inside the hood. Taking ahold of the fabric of the hood he pulled it back. "Please, call me Dalamar."

"I know who you are," Tanis said, his face turning slightly red," but I want to know why you are here." "Thats quite simple Tanis, I am here to help you and your Knight friend there, Sturm was his name correct, to find my master, Raistlin. There are great things happining Tanis and Raistlin must NOT be allowed to stop the,."

Sturm took a step towards Dalamar, "And how do we know you will not turn on us when the time comes?" Drawing his sword out slightly Sturm stared at Dalamar. "You dont, sir knight. You dont. I will be in one of the study rooms Tanis when you are ready to set down and chat about old time's and new." Turning Dalamar walked back out of the room. Great, thought Tanis, now what......

Rand

Rand looked over at his companions. "Ok,here we are at the forest at the edge of the Tower.I am not sure how far I can go. But lets walk around the perimeter and see if we can see anything. "

Kalison (dragon)

Kalison made it to the edge of Shoikan Oak Grove, even dragons were not immune to the fear radiated from the trees surrounding the tower. Rather than quake with fear, Kalison embraced the emotion, after the long hibernation any feeling at all was intoxicating. Despite this he was still unable to enter into the Grove, the magic were indeed powerful. The dragon was patient, time would give him the opportunity, and he would seize it.
As the thought pass through his mind, the gods were indeed smile upon him. Passing among the building heading on a parallel path was a group interest. Few are there who are known to many and less that are known to all. With his keen sight he spied one such. Caramon Majere alone he might of gone unnoticed, but in company with a dwarf make him draw the eye. What chance was this, that perhaps the one most likely to gain entrance would appear as if by fate. It must be a sign. Moving back from the grove he circled around an approached from more appropriate distance.
" Ho friends not many take this part of the tour some find it a bit unsettling. "

Tanis begain to head out of the room to follow Dalamar when he felt a hand on his shoulder.Turning back he saw Sturm stairing at him with a very sore look on his face. "Tanis, this Dalamar person is supposed to be Raistlins apprentice. Do you really think you can trust him?" "No, I dont but I have to know whats going on." Nodding Sturm removed his hand. "Be careful Tanis, Raistlin is not one to be trusted." "I know. Believe me, I know." Turning Tanis headed out of the room towards the study where Dalamar had went.....

Elly looked at the forest warily. She senses an undercurrent of power all around her and knew it came from the tower. She felt a strange sense of dread but she ignored it. "You never really told me, why exactly are we looking for this mage? and why are you people so interested in something that is obviously very dangerous?"

Caramon

Caramon looks at Elly with sad soulful eyes. "This powerful mage is my brother. He is getting too strong for his own good and for his health. I am trying to find him to talk to him, and see if he is succumbing to evil. I can not abide by the thought that my feeble brother would spread evil and I am honor bound to stop him if he is. "

Rand

" Ho friends not many take this part of the tour some find it a bit unsettling. "

Rand heard that voice and looked over to their left. There was a young man over there also studying the tower. Rand wondered what the man was doing here. He walked over to the man. "Well, we are trying to determine if there is anything really to fear with this tower. I would ask you the same question, why are you so close to it? "

Elly looked at the new arrival instinctivly stepping closer to her companions. She really didn't like it when strange men popped up near scary places. It never was a good thing.

" As to that my Friend, I was hoping to do some Business with the towers occupants. But I must say the forest seams most reluctant to anyone pass. I have at some cost, acquired an artifact that may let me pass, my only concern would be the reception I'll receive on the inside. "
Reaching into the shoulder bag slung across his back, Kalison removed a long gold chain almost two meters in length. Forming a loop, a large pendant was attached to the middle. Dark red ruby as bis as a hen's egg. Surrounded by other gems, the ruby glowed with it own light.
" Alas it can only be worked by a magic user, and as I'm am not such a one, I am unable to use it's power. " Lied Kalison, he did not want to revel to much about himself.
Looking towards Rand his eyebrows rose
" You sir have the look of a mage, perhaps you may be able to work it. I was told to read the word engraved upon the back, and the pendant would repel strong spells. Whether it is enough to gain entry the tower" He shrugged his shoulder
" only ask that you take me along so I may plead my offer to the tower's master. "

Flint

Flint eyed the stranger between fear filled looks at the tower, This human was mad, going in any time was suicide, uninvited was even worse. What could be worse, Flint couldn't even imaging but it sure would be worse than suicide.
" Nobody get in uninvited and if you do make you'll not come out again. " Flint voice shook. I could have been fear or anger. None could tell. To himself Flint was more worried that Caramon would accept the offer and Flint would have to follow, or tell Tanis he had let him go by in by himself.
" How Do we know it will work anyway, Seams a fool idea to me. "

As Tanis entered the room Dalamar stood. "Tanis I fear I must leave now but I shall return. There appears to be people that wish to enter my Master's tower. I can not allow that Tanis." Taking certain spell components out of his pouches hanging around his waist he begain to slowly chant. Tanis took a step towards him. "Dalamar, you must tell me what is going on." Looking back at Tanis, Dalamar smiled. "If you must know then please come with me to the tower itself. All will be made clear then." "Fine. How will we get there though?" "We will walk the ways of magic, Half-Elf, and we will leave now." Nodding Tanis waited for Dalamar to open a doorway to the tower. Slowly a large blue portal opened. "Quickly Half-Elf, go through. I can not hold it open for very long." Taking a deep breath Tanis leaped through followed closely by Dalamar. Just as the portal begain to close Sturm rushed into the room. "Tanis, there's," Seeing the portal closing and no Tanis in sight Sturm wispered a prayer to Palidain and leaped through as well......

Rand

Rand looks over at the medallion. It is surely a powerful artifact, he can feel the power emanating from it. "I do not think that I will enter the tower. I am here to meet this young mage, not invade his workplace. I will give him a few more days, and if not ; then I may look you up. Time is not a problem at this point. "

Kalison

Kalison nodded his head in asent. But inside he grew impatience, keeping the smile on his face was easy though, they also intended to enter the tower if not at this point, eventually he would meet with the Mage Raistlin.
" Of course I never intended to do otherwise, it just seems appointments are some what hard to arrange. I saw you here and though perhaps you have made arrangement already and would allow me to join. No matter, as you say a few days will make no difference. "
Holding out his hand Kalison spoke
" My name is Kalison, I'm from Northern Ergoth, of late a sell sword, but I have been may things, at many times."

Elly studdied the newcomer with curiosity. She always loved to meet new people and today she had met alot. Looking back up at the tower she shuddered, she could feel something about that tower. Something dark and forbidding. She was very glad that they weren't going in. She knew if they did it would be unlikly that they would ever come out alive.

Rand reaches out his hand. "Well met, Kalison. I am Rand. These are my companions. I will let them make their own introductions. "

Caramon

Caramon looks over the newcomer with skepticism. "I am Caramon, nice to meet you. I think we were getting ready to leave , where we not?"

Elly stepped forward smiling in welcome "Hi I'm Ellesime but you can call me Elly. It's a pleasure to meet you"

Kalison

" Well met to you all, this is my first trip to palanthas and it is fortunate to meet such welcoming fellows. When do you anticipate entering the tower?. I have a few things that need doing within the city, If you give me the name of your inn, I'll be sure to look you up."

STURM

Sturm looked up from where he had landed on the ground. Not being able to see much except two small lights getting closer. Then he realized where he was. Springing to his feet he turned and ran towards the tower that he knew would be there.....

TANIS

Tanis blinked slightly as his eye's adjusted to the drastic change from the well lit librery to the not so well lit study of Dalamar, Raistlin's understudy. "Come, set Tanis." Dalamar begain, motioning to a near by chair. "We have much to discuss."
" Yes we do like why did we have to come here." Looking up from a small pool on a pedistal Dalamar smiled, "It appears Tanis, that your good friends Caramon and Flint are waiting outside the Grove for my master. I play that they do not chose to come into the Grove. I doubt they would survive it." Tanis steped closer to the pool, looking at it he saw Caramon and Flint as well as Rand. Also with them was two other people that Tanis did not know. "Surely they wouldnt attempt to enter the Grove." "No I believe you are right. Well then let me tell you what Par-Salin has requested me to tell you. " MOtioning towards the chair again, dalamar sat in a chair behind a large wooden desk. "Par-Salin fears that my master is prepairing to do something that could destroy us all. He is prepairing to become a god........."

Flint

Flint breathed a sigh or relief, which he quickly covered with a cough. It seamed they would not have to enter anytime soon.
" A warm Mead and a fire would suit me about now" Flint shivered, and glanced at the tower. With any luck they wouldn't have to go in.
" Eh Caramon. Never seen you turn down an a chance to fill that pit you call a stomach."
