Democratic Primary Fucktussle!

I will probably vote, Least Evil, like always.

I'm no purity pony and I have little choice, the DNC and RNC are corrupted by the Dark Lords of Finance who are not concerned with the public's welfare.

The first time I voted for President, I voted for Nixon! I was still young and having just returned from the South East Asia Bombing range I was Not a fan of LBJ and didn't think that HH was going to change anything. Dirty Dick promised that he had a plan to end the war. I didn't know that Dick was lying.

Since then I have learned from bitter experience that politicians are all liars, to some extent. My favourite Pres was probably Jimmy Carter, who was fucked over by circumstances and the Republicans. He was however the Least Evil Pres we've had in a Long Long Time.

I feel that Politics in America is tragic-comedy that should be observed and lamented. I really don't take anyone all that seriously as my 0.00000001% vote means little.

Unfortunately, both parties are used bathwater, no baby left to save. They're trash. Like Jack said, corrupted by captains of finance and industry. Neither party cares about the working class, the environment, etc. The Democrats pay lip service to it, but every Democratic nominee in my lifetime, other than Jimmy Carter, has been a sick joke in that sense. Gore, Obama, Hillary, Biden, Kerry, Bill, etc. all crooks who are part of a corrupt political machine.

There's no saving either of them. I just hope that a strong third party arises between now and 2024, because that's our last chance left. My biggest beef with Bernie is that he's a sham populist, sham because he's not actually rebelling against the DNC at all. He's basically a Democrat with a little socialist cachet to him, that's all. A fraud just like AOC and the Working Families Party.

His ideas are standard European social democracy, so hardly crackpot, though. Universal health care. Universal college. Nothing extreme or pie in the sky, if you can stop funneling money to the corporate barons through kickbacks, to agribusiness, and to the military industrial complex through more expensive, bloodthirsty wars. It's just that his only contribution to them has been as the "Amendment King" in Congress and helping organize workers against Amazon and McDonald's. Good work, but not enough to overthrow the power of the ruling class by itself.

Instead of warning idiots not to drink bleach, Democrats should be forcing a national debate about Trump’s fitness for office

It got even worse on Friday, when The Guardian reported that “the leader of the most prominent group in the US peddling potentially lethal industrial bleach as a ‘miracle cure’ for coronavirus wrote to Donald Trump at the White House this week. In his letter, Mark Grenon told Trump that chlorine dioxide – a powerful bleach used in industrial processes such as textile manufacturing that can have fatal side-effects when drunk – is ‘a wonderful detox that can kill 99% of the pathogens in the body.’ He added that it ‘can rid the body of Covid-19.'”

If every elected Democrat, from small-town mayors to the Speaker of the House, called on Trump to resign or demanded that his cabinet invoke the 25th Amendment to remove him from office–and if every liberal or progressive media outlets echoed those calls–the mainstream press would cover it like any other partisan controversy–by offering both sides of the argument. They’d quote psychologists and presidential historians and other relevant experts to support the argument that Trump is totally bonkers, and Republicans would be cornered into defend Trump’s nonsense. Pundits and editorial boards would have to weigh in.

Dim Dem's don't demonstrate Donnie's disastrous decisions directly.

Meanwhile Trump loyalists drink the bleach!:)

Corporate Lobbyists Control the Rules at the DNC

Two-thirds of DNC Rules and Bylaws Committee members are corporate lobbyists or corporate consultants, including ten at-large DNC members appointed by DNC Chair Tom Perez.

Democrats are looking ahead to the second nominating ballot at the July Democratic National Convention, when superdelegates will be allowed to cast votes if no presidential candidate receives a majority of pledged delegates on the first ballot.

Superdelegates include 75 at-large DNC members, often prominent party figures who are put forward as a slate by DNC Chair Tom Perez and do not directly represent a state or other region. Among the 447 total voting DNC members, who make up the majority of 771 superdelegates, there are scores of corporate lobbyists and consultants—including many of the 75 at-large DNC members, who were not individually elected.

These corporate lobbyists will be allowed to vote on the second ballot under the compromise that emerged from the Unity Reform Commission meeting in 2017. The Unity Reform Commission’s proposed package of reforms was later passed by the Rules and Bylaws Committee and adopted as the 2020 convention rules in a rushed voice vote of full DNC members at the summer 2018 national party meeting.

DNC not made up of the rank and file but the Rank and Vile!

Those would be the party workers who actually do the work that promote Democratic candidates in elections up and down the line--those wouldn't be Bernie or Nobody fanatics pissing in the tent, no. You're right about that.

No, the evidence and demonstration are clearly there. There doesn't need to be a debate that he's nuts.

I agree with you on that but this needs to be pushed hard to insure that Rethuglicunts are wiped off the face of the earth for what they and the DNC have done.

If the Dem's would push this meme into the MSM and hammer it hard every fucking day Trump Chumps would have to defend the indefensible or switch parties.

Biden is in a perfect position, being out of office, to do this. It's a shame he hasn't blasted Trump Like a Mighty Mo broadside every fucking day. I guess he's too busy trying to compromise with Rethuglicunts to fight for Democratic Ideals?

I predict Biden will come out more now that Trump has stopped shooting himself in the balls every day with a virus briefing train wreck. While that was going on, Biden didn't have to say much of anything other than "Tune in to the Nut job this evening."

Well he could have begun to lay out his platform, but I suppose it is a little too early since the DNC hasn't made up his mind for him. He could explain his reluctance to M4A and why he seems to support the Capitalist Health care system, which skims the cream off health care dollars.

He could make a statement in defence of of the emasculation of the supporting structures of government that Trumpinistas have defunded.

He could object to the stealing of Tribal land provided by treaty revocation. Isn't stealing land abhorrent to Rethuglicunts too? Of course that is really about the casinos.

He could even bitch about the 52% of the budget that goes to the Pentagon. But that might step on a few toes and Biden isn't one to offend those people.

So yeah, he's got nothing newsworthy to say.:)

Liz has Plans, Joe has bullshit. Bernie has ideas and integrity, Joe is a windsock in the Eastern Establishment blow job.

If I were the one who was butt hurt because the Democrats chose to run a Democrat for president, I'd be constantly opening threads about it, wouldn't I? But, you're the one doing that, Jack, not me. So . . .

Biden will bring into government people who know how to do beneficial work for the nation--not just to talk about it, but actually get at least some of it done. Fringe fanatics don't do that. Trump is among those who has shown that they don't.

If you weren't just naïve about the prospect of getting some progressive legislation done, Jack, you'd support Elizabeth Warren, which I do--as VP, with every likelihood of moving up. Supporting Bernie is supporting just talking pie-in-the sky. The man is a proven dud with a moving mouth and no ability or record to produce.

Joe Biden's Got Green New Deal In Your Stimulus!

Joe Biden has some ideas about economic stimulus. In an interview with Politico, Biden said America needs a new stimulus bill that's a "hell of a lot bigger" than last month's $2.2 trillion CARES Act to get people through the economic chaos caused by the coronavirus, as well as bold thinking that goes well beyond the immediate crisis. My gosh, it's almost as if he knows that you don't get out of economic doldrums by forcing austerity.

Also, he cussed a lot about Donald Trump's terrible management of the crisis, but limited it to hells and damns to keep it all safe for primetime TV. We'll confess, we like Angry Joe.

Politico's Michael Grunwald noted that Biden's economic talk "sounded a bit like his angrier and less moderate primary rivals, Sens. Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren," which is all to the good. Any new stimulus, he said, has to be aimed at making sure state and local governments can avoid "laying off a hell of a lot of teachers and cops and firefighters," and needs better oversight built into it, since the Trump administration is "wasting a hell of a lot of money" with the current stimulus funding.

Gosh, Joe woke up! Now he's Mr. Green New Deal. Burning Trumpski's butt with Truth Arrows!
:):):)

Again, keep an eye on the comparison of the people Biden will bring in with him and the revolving door of shyster's Trump provides--and will continue to provide as long as he's not out of there and in the mental ward of a federal prison.

You're making he assumption that Joe will win. Given the last go round it's not a safe bet.

:)

No, I'm not. If you actually read my posts you'd know I don't make any such assumption.

I don't know if he'll even be the Democratic challenger. If he is, though, he will bring capable people back into key government roles--which is what I posted.

Okay Pilot. But beware of Trumpski in the dark with a shiv.:D

Not likely. Trump is too cowardly to do his own shiv work. He always tries to get someone else to do it and if they ignore him he tries to get someone other than that to do it. I think it has something to do with bone spurs.

‘This is the wrong call’: Ocasio-Cortez blasts NY decision to ‘disenfranchise millions’ by canceling election

One of New York’s leading progressive voices blasted the decision by the state’s Board of Elections to cancel the state’s presidential primary.

“In a move that seems likely to interfere with the intraparty healing process, New York election officials have canceled the June 23 Democratic presidential primary on public-health grounds, infuriating Bernie Sanders’s suspended, but not yet abandoned, campaign. The primary had already been delayed by Governor Cuomo from its original April 28 date until June 23, when the state holds its non-presidential primaries. Furthermore, three days ago Cuomo ordered that every registered voter in New York be sent a postage-paid application to vote by mail in the primary,” New York magazine reported Monday.

“No matter who you support, it is extremely dangerous that New York is establishing a precedent of cancelling (sic) elections citing COVID,” the youngest woman ever elected to Congress wrote.

“Primary results matters beyond who wins 1st place. Sen. Sanders explicitly stated that he intended on continuing to collect delegates in order to advance wage, healthcare, climate & other priorities into the platform at the convention,” she explained.

She called for the Democratic National Committee (DNC) to respond to the decision.

“As I have said: unity isn’t a feeling, it’s a process. Undemocratic, unilateral decisions that disenfranchise millions of progressive voters & volunteers is extremely destructive to the process of unifying the party for Nov,” AOC warned.

Former neighbor of Joe Biden’s accuser Tara Reade comes forward — as some Democrats struggle with supporting the ex-VP

Tara Reade is the former U.S. Senate aide who has alleged that former Vice President Joe Biden sexually assaulted her in 1993 — an allegation that Biden’s campaign has flatly denied. However, some people who knew Reade back then, according to Business Insider, are saying that Reade made Biden-related allegations to them during the 1990s.

Lynda LaCasse, who was Reade’s next-door neighbor in the mid-1990s, said that Reade gave her details about the alleged assault around the time that she says it occurred.

Reade, according to McHugh, “has said that in the spring or summer of 1993, she was told to meet Biden in a semi-private corridor to deliver a duffel bag. There, she said, Biden pushed her up against a wall, reached under her skirt, and penetrated her with his fingers. When she resisted his advances, Reade said, Biden expressed annoyance.”

"Finger Banging Biden?"

Smokescreen and obscuration - where was this bull when he was selected as VP for 8 years?

Moving on.

Besides, I hear pussy grabbing is presidential lately.

My 2 cents

‘Anyone but Elizabeth’ Warren: A powerful group reportedly doesn’t want her to be vice president

Former Vice President Joe Biden, the Democratic Party’s presumptive presidential nominee, is facing pressure from big money donors not to select Sen. Elizabeth Warren as his running mate in the general election—even as polling from YouGov and the Economist shows Democratic voters support the Massachusetts senator over other options.

“I think a lot of the donor base, on board and coming, would prefer almost anyone but Elizabeth,” one longtime Biden fundraiser told CNBC Thursday. “I don’t see him choosing her for veep.”

Warren was backed by 26% of Democratic respondents, while Biden’s other former rival for the Democratic nomination, Senator Kamala Harris of California, came in second with support from 18% of the party’s voters. Stacey Abrams, who ran unsuccessfully to become Georgia’s governor in 2018, came in third with 12, and Senator Amy Klobuchar of Minnesota, who also previously sought the Democratic presidential nomination, came in fourth with 11%.

Concerns and preferences of rank and file voters aside, a number of donors have expressed opposition to Warren, with one unnamed Wall Street executive claiming that Warren would be a “horrible” choice and lead Biden to “lose the election.” According to CNBC, a number of wealthy Biden donors have had conversations with the campaign to pressure him to pick more palatable option for Wall Street.

“Maybe a presumptive nominee shouldn’t be picking a Vice President according to what some Wall Street executives think!” tweeted Fernandez.

If anything, IfNotNow co-founder and former Warren staffer Max Berger said on Twitter, the opposition to Warren means she should be the pick.

:)
Imagine their disappointment when Biden has to tell them their taxes will have to go up biggly to pay for Donnie Boy's fuck ups?
