Vocals. I can play guitar reasonably, but not great. Keyboard is iffy. Percussion is pretty good. Trouble is I get so into the lyrics I let whatever else I'm doin slide. Whatever groups I've been with, it's always been as vocalist, so no one cares, thank God. We had some ace guitarists last night, though. And a fiddler. Wide variety of material. It's open to all comers, so wide range of ability, too. I love listening to someone who is playing something they practiced for the night and it triggers a memory for someone. For 5 mins everyone is trying to remember lyrics and chords and then off it goes. Enough people get it together including harmonies. A little slice of heaven for me.

Yep, there was a wee selection of Pearl's work, some Joni Mitchel, Crosby Stills & Nash, trad Irish (fiddler very happy with that), trad Aus, and blues. Everyone leapt into a very energetic rendition of Black Betty, but there are so many versions it ended with an argument about how it should end! It's fun just to sit back and laugh at the ones taking it far too seriously. They chill in the end. I threw in a Hoagy Carmichael, someone was talking about writers of that era. There was even the Banana Boat song. I'm not sure why. It gets quite random. We did have classical. There was a classical guitarist there. And I love Handel.

I have had that song in my head on and off for weeks!!! I love it. Has a 70s feel. So different for Daft Punk.

I heard a song at a sporting event with a bit of banana boat song in it. It wasn't Lil Wayne's 6 Foot 7 Foot either. So that is probably why Banana Boat was requested.

In the pool today. Warmish here in the high 60's. Finished off my Bailey's earlier this week. Come, have a splash with us in the pool, let the sun warm your bones as you drift on one of them floatie dealios. I don't sweat pike and turtles when I'm naked in a pool, just in ponds and lakes.
