BEIRUT/ANKARA—The Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) said on Sunday, Oct. 20 they had withdrawn from the border town of Ras al Ain under a U.S.-brokered ceasefire deal.

Ras al Ain is one of two towns on the Turkish-Syrian border that have been the main targets of Turkey’s offensive to push back Kurdish fighters and create a more than 30 km (about 20 miles) deep “safe zone” inside Syria.

Turkey paused the offensive on Thursday night for five days under a deal agreed between President Tayyip Erdogan and U.S. Vice President Mike Pence. Erdogan has warned that Turkey will resume the assault when the deadline expires on Tuesday if the SDF had not pulled back from the safe zone area.

which is not entirely true in a region where military forces use these facilities
to fight from on a routine basis knowing that it will create just the reaction
you display on the part of the Western Left; they exploit a known weakness.

Most Joes on the ground realized this shit about 10 min after showing up. That's why after we cleared our objectives in Iraq and ran an election in 04' near all of us were wondering why the fuck we were still there.

The 1st world doesn't have the unity and desire to run a total extermination program against Muslims and then maintain it long enough for the idea to die off.

There is no objective, they fucking hate us and everything about us except our willingness to help them with their immediate problems......time to go home and let them get back to fighting each other.

I think the problem is that you think we have/had conventional army units
in the region when what we had was a small imprint of special ops
which is merely being moved (probably for political reason)
and will continue to operate. It was never "preventing"
it was engaged in a hunting expedition.

If you understood the military at all
I think you would know the difference.

Of that 700 or so people stationed there
90% of them would have been support and logistics.
That was not a deterrent force keeping the peace, it was a hit squad...
