Disciples to the Forgotten

Yasaedra slung her bow and drew Dark Maiden's Light. She also readied to cast a spell which would cause the air around her to become bone-chillingly frigid (Corona of Cold).

Once the spell was in place, she would aim to sever the antennae, reasoning they would be the easiest to disable.

Agnimita

IC: The pair waited for a full two minutes which to them felt like they had waited twenty minutes. "Okay perhaps we need some sort of bait." The human reached into a pouch at her side and pulled out a mule equipped with a bit, bridle, and even saddle bags. She then nudged it over to the door way where the mule was quickly cocooned.

"Okay maybe the bait idea doesn't work." That is when the creatures narrow attenea exited the room and the pair readied for the rest of the beast and suddenly it disappeared.

Agnimita backed further away from the door clearly on guard holding both swords at the ready. "Where is it?"

'Agnimita? Is that you?' Agnimita's mouth opened a gape hearing her brothers voice. 'Don't come in the room is trapped.'

Yasaedra had barely begun to gesture when the antennae vanished.

What the...

Can it go invisible? she asked DML.

It is no longer there, but someone else...

"Agnimita? Is that you?"
Agnimita's mouth opened a gape hearing her brothers voice. "Don't come in the room is trapped."

"We know that, where'd the bug go?" she asked, not revealing that she knew he had been in the mirror to either yet, just incase.

IC: Agnimita quickly answered "It is Regalid." She quickly began to round the corner when her brother shouted stop at her.

"The beast is the mirror with 2 others of its kind, a switch is made when ever one crosses the door with out speaking the password."

"Whats the password," Agnimita asked.

"I read ahead." That being said her brother stepped out from the room.

"I read ahead...now there's a passphrase," she chuckled.

Even as she genuinely chuckled and watched the two embrace, on the inside she was a bit weary of him. You never know what to expect from a batty old wizard's defenses.

Agnimita

IC: The to broke the embrace. "Why did you miss my birthday Regalid?"

'I was trapped in the mirror. But now we can go and return to Union.'

"I'm afraid that will be easier said than done," she spoke softly, "There's a particularly large great red wyrm out there that is particularly angry. Then there's the infernal that would like to have a 'word' with you. It would seem we are safe from both of them in here."

She paused a moment before asking, "How did you get past the dragon."

Regalid

IC: "So the infernal is still looking for me." He paused for a moment. "The dragon was simple to overcome, I came here during his vaction. Which I am sad to say is over for the year leaving us with a bit of a problem."

Agnimita raised an eye brow, "What of the shield you were sent to find?"

Regalid paused for a much longer moment. "I made up the job so you wouldn't worry about me."

"Wouldn't worry about you? You went missing for months for no reason at all?"

"Not exactly, I've acquired an artifact recently."

"Yes thats what you do for a living. But why didn't you tell me?"

"I aquired the infinite codex of planes."

"What?"

"I've been here studding it for some time."

"You fool. Do you know how dangerous that item is? You are no where near skilled enough to control its power, you are to undisciplined for that. Are you even sure its the right book its been missing for years?"

"The infernal had it."

Agnimita sat down and was quiet.

The Codex of the Infinite Planes?!?!

And the infernal had had it.

She looked upon Regalid with great respect, "To have braved such an abomination's lair and retrieved such an item from it... you have done the multiverse a favor by removing it from the creature's grasp for as long as you have... if we can keep it out of it's hands, we will have done it and all within a great favor."

"I am Yasaedra Noquana, Priestess of Eilistraee and I will do all that I can to ensure we keep it out of the fiend's hands, even if it should cost me my life," she bowed.

She did not mention that she was touched by the powers of good, there was no need. He could tell simply by her glow, and the purity heart that seemed to surround her.

And if destroying the book was the only way to stop the infernal from reclaiming it, she would do so. Such power must be kept from such evil at all costs.

Agnimita

IC: Regalid nodded. "The book is safe from most here."

Agnimita raised her head and let out a sigh. "I think we should give it the book back."

"Agnimata, do you have any idea what that horrid thing could do with the power in that book?" she asked.

"That book must not be allowed to fall into the wrong hands, no matter what. Besides, what is to stop it from killing us on the spot if it gets the book back? Or hunting you down a month, year or decade down the road?"

"Even if we die, think of how many will owe us for taking this power from it. How many lives will not suffer from the power given to the infernal by this book?"

Agnimita

IC: "That thing won't do any more harm then it has been doing, and as far as I can tell that is little. As to why it is after us, I am most certain it is because this damn book. As safe as this place is, it won't be so forever especially if we give that infernal time. Our only two options are to return the book and destroy it, and I doubt we have the tools to destroy that artifact here. Giving up the book for now is the best solution I see. Trusting the demon I know with it.

"Done little? I only have some clue as to the power this book contains, I'm sure it possesses much more than I suspect it does. Just because you haven't seen the fiend use it to great effect doesn't mean it hasn't done so."

"Just because you don't hear a tree fall a content away, doesn't mean it did not fall."

"We cannot allow the infernal to regain possession of the book, no matter what."

She turned to Regalid, "What have you leaned of the book and it's power?"

Regalid

IC: "The fundamentals I suppose." Regalid began more then happy to interupt the battle of his saviors. "It is basically a method of gaining magical powers very quickly, but one needs a discipline mind to do so. I suspect the infernal lost any powers it gained from the book when I became its owner. But I am only guessing."

He paused and saw Agnimita was still worked up. "The book basically has an unlimited number of pages, or more then I care to read any way. I spent a month reading it and I feel no closer to the end then when I started. But I believe I've reached the pinnacle of its powers. It grants me a nice edge, but if we must destroy it, I suppose its not much of a loss."

Agnimita broke in. "And how do you suppose we destroy it? This book has been magically hardened in a way to make admantite look brittle. With my experience in artifacts I suspect a black ball couldn't get rid of this thing. There is probably only one way to destroy it, and we don't know what it is."

"We have only two real options, leave the book here and deal with the angry infernal, or give the book to a slightly less angry infernal. Oh, and just so you know moving the book counts as giving it to a very angry infernal. So which method do you two prefer because I certainly prefer the less angry infernal."

"If the wizard of this tower could bind that dragon to his service, and prevent the infernal entry, he may have what we need to destroy the book. I will ask Eilistraee for guidance." (Divination)

Yasaedra sat down on the floor and began her prayer. Silvery beams of moon light seemed to come from the ceiling over top of her and shine down on her. Ten minutes past.

"Eilistraee, my goddess, please help your servant prevent an artifact of great power from falling into the hands of an infernal. What would be our best course of action to prevent this book of power from entering its possession and what advice can you give your servant to best follow that course of action?"

((OOC: I know that's more than the spell allows, but I'm figuring since she's a saint, she'd be allowed to ask more and get a more detailed reply. If you disagree, I'll edit.))

Agnimita

IC: The human girl seemed to be most displeased with the coarse of action happening. She sat down. "You pay to much respect to the gods."

Regalid looked to her. "Or perhaps you don't pay enough."

Agnimita shot an angry look at her brother. "There are a few I respect, but I won't hinge my life on them."

Mean while Eilistraee was answering a prayer. "Your options are few. To keep the infernal from having the book, leave it there. But know this, events have started and if you leave the artifact there you will not be able to reach it when you need it."

Yasaedra felt her goddess's love, her power as she spoke to Yasaedra. She still felt incredible awe each time she responded to Yasaedra's prayers, as it should be in her opinion.

She relaid the warning work for word, the information her goddess, "Your options are few. To keep the infernal from having the book, leave it there. But know this, events have started and if you leave the artifact there you will not be able to reach it when you need it."

"It seems we have a choice, leave the book here, out of the infernal's grasp, or try and get away with it for our own use down the road."

IC: "We'll I am not a fan of either of those options. But if those are what you wish to choose between then fine, I will support you two in your decision. But if we take the book we must know where to store it for safety, do you have a good place to keep it safe?"

"If we can find a means of getting out with the book and keeping it safe, we should do so, otherwise I believe we should hide the book here so the fiend cannot reach it."

She turned to Regalid, "Have you found anything here that could help us? A wizard this powerful should have something we can use, especially if he felt it necessary to ward against abominations such as the infernal."

Regalid

IC: "Well truth be told I said I was looking for the shield because its the most powerful item here. Many of his belongings were taken by his closer friends who didn't have to worry about the traps or his servants." He paused for a bit.

"Really the best I can offer is a bag of holding, and I suspect our infernal would expect such an item. But if we move the book, let us assume we can get past him. Where do you want to place the book?"

"Arvador," she said simply. Arvador was the home plane of the Elven Pantheon and her own goddess, Eilistraee.

"I could take us there, once I prepare the spell. There there are many deities and their servants who could watch over it, and unless dimensional travel is prevented, it would be fairly easy for me to retrieve it in our time of need."

She was a powerful cleric and saint after all.

((OOC: You know I just noticed something, their is a half god/demon, but no half god/celestial in the Epic handbook. WTF?))

Agnimita

OOC: Make an abomination for it! Any how we aren't in the forgotten realms so that plane doesn't exist, but we'll call it a demi plane. Note the tower is teleport proof.

IC: "Are you sure its wise to give it to gods? The book is for mortals isn't it?"

((OOC: Sorry about that, that's Eilistraee's home plane. I didn't have the Manuel of the Planes on me so I couldn't check what the plane the Elven Pantheon called home, to use instead. I was going to use Plane Shift. So, its warded even against magical travel going out bound? Could always just walk out side and cast.))

"The gods of the elves are wise, and powerful. You forget, we have a half-god/ half-demon after the book. It will be under the protection of thirteen deities, including my goddess and her father, Corellon Larethian himself. Eilistraee has said we will need the book later, she will provide it when we need it or are better suited to protect it ourselves."

"Regalid, how did you best the infernal before?"

Regalid

IC: "I tricked him before, and then trapped him on a demi plane by destroying the outgoing door on the infinite stair case. I doubt the same idea will work so well, regrettably he is smarter then he looks, and very resourceful."

He paused. "Perhaps we can out run him?"

"I'm thinking once I rest and prepare my spells, I will prepare three Plane Shifts. The first two will be to try and throw him off our trail, with the second being Celestia, then proceeding to Arvador."

"We will need a place to rest, where would be a safe place for us to do so?" she asked.
