Disciples to the Forgotten

Scales and Agnimita

IC: Agnimita looked at the elf with a fair amount of suprise, was she trying to piss off the dragon?

The massive beast paused. "Yes well, he was very persuasive and a very effective back stabber as it turns out. The terms of the contract shifted some, none the less I will be free again. Now I have one less question, would you be so kind as to tell me what gems you have in your possession? It will save me the trouble of searching your bodies afterward."

"If you kill us, I'm sure you won't mind the few extra minutes of having something to do by searching us yourself."

Her protective aura already active, she adjusted her essentia to the maximum in her boots, then the remainder into her helm. She unslung her bow, knocked with a holy arrow, holding it at the ready position, a prayer to Eilistraee (True Strike) waiting on her lips.

She slowly backed away, knowing that this was a fight they could not win. And hoping that the pact didn't allow the dragon to pursue individuals who had not actually attempted to cross the river to the tower.

Agnimita and Scales the Terrible

IC: Agnimita moved her hands from resting on her blades to griping one tightly, and then she laxed her grip. She raised her glove clad hand ever so slightly from her hilt. "Are we done talking then?"

"Yes I believe we are. So should we get on with your attempt at battle?"

"But it is quite obvious even to us we can't win, so a fight isn't really a good option." Agnimita walked over to Yasaedra and let her hand rest on her shoulder. "My drow friend, ease your bow. We shouldn't fight this glorious creature."

The dragon watched with a suspicous eye. Food seldom just stood there, and either one of them had gone mad or was up to something. Suddenly Agnimita's soft rest became a firm grip on the drows shoulder. "We are running instead." She then began a series of arcane words.

The dragon reared its head back and then jerked it forward letting loose a great wave of fire. Even threw the magical protection the fire singed and burnt the flesh and then with a sudden gust of air the two were at the foot steps of a large black stone structure.

"We need to get inside before the dragon notices us!" The tower was 5 stories tall the upper most story seeming to be a simple observatory. The 4th floor had a massive hole in it, as if it was eaten away by acid but a possible entrance. The front door was two massive obsidian blocks that appeared to open outward based on the hinges but there were no handles.

Agnimita and Scales the Terrible

My first double post this year, not bad if I do say so myself.

Yasaedra looked at her out of the corner of her eye like she was mad. Like we'll have a choice. Her eyes returned to the dragon, bow still at the ready, prayer still on her lips.

Suddenly Agnimita's soft rest became a firm grip on the drow's shoulder. "We are running instead." She then began a series of arcane words.

Yasaedra finished her prayer, the ring on her left finger glowed and then so did her arrow. The dragon reared its head back and then jerked it forward letting loose a great wave of fire. Yasaedra loosed her arrow, which just missed the torrents of flame. It flew true and struck the dragon's right eye, the ring's power helping it penetrate.

She turned her back to the flame, moving between it and her employer. She knew her protection was slightly greater that Agnimata's, and her gown would shield much of her from the flame's flesh searing touch, but not it's scalding heat.

She screamed in agony as the flame washed over her, penetrating her resistances, burning her exposed flesh and scalding what was beneath the gown.

Scales jerked his head, roaring in agony. The holy power of the arrow burned into the eye, it was only a bee sting... but it was to the delicate flesh of the eye.

Then with a sudden gust of air the two were at the foot steps of a large black stone structure.

"We need to get inside before the dragon notices us!"

Yasaedra fell to her knees, tears of agony rolling down her black face. Dropping her bow, clutching her wounds, she prayed to Eilistraee to Heal her. A silvery glow surrounded her, her chard flesh healed, her burning hair ceased to burn and regrew.

She breathed a sigh of relief, gave a silent prayer of thanks, and rose fully healed.

"How badly are you hurt?" she asked as she studied their options at entering.

Agnimita

IC: "Not enough to concern me more then the dragon." She looked up to the roof. "How are you at climbing?"

"I could conjure a stairway for us, though doing so would give us away. The sudden appearance of a glowing stairway is bound to attract attention. Then again, I don't see a way to open the doors... Or we could try a window."

Agnimita

IC: "If the stairs are usable right away I intend to be inside well before the dragon gets here. Unless of coarse you prefer to climb, but then we are gambling with time."

Yasaedra nodded and began to cast the spell (Moon Path). A silvery glowing stairway appeared, passing infront of several windows and ending inside the gapping hole.

She slung her bow, drew Dark Maiden's Light and quickly headed up the stairs.

Agnimita and DML

ic: Agnimita ran up the stairs right after the drow. The pair stopped as the stairs did not reach into the room as intended. The room was obviously once quite impressive going off the few arcane remains in there. Most of the room was now exposed to the elements and had a blackened outside as a result. A slime seemed to flow out of mid air near what one would assume was once ceiling but now is simply mid air, the slime then pooled a mear ten feet from the stair cases end.

Dark maidens light spoke to Yaseadra, "Don't go further. That is flux slime, a very dangerous substance, it produces an anti magic field and eats threw nearly anything."

"I have rope if we're still going." Agnimita stated.

She reached out and grabbed Agnimata's shoulder.

"No, we need to go through a window. That's a flux slime. Emits an anti-magic field and eats through just about anything," relaying DML's warning.

She went back to the nearest window, looking in, she didn't see any slime. Yasaedra retrieved her trusty ordinary heavy mace and took a swing at the glass.

Animita

IC: The window cracked under the first swing but did not break. It was clearly no ordinary glass but still a second swing would do it.

"I think he's found us." Off in the distance a dragon could be seen in flight it wouldn't be long now before it was upon us.

Yasaedra wasn't half surprised by the fact that the glass didn't break under her first swing. If the guy who built it could bind a dragon as powerful as that one, he could have tough windows.

Nor was she surprised that they had been spotted, the glowing stairway was a bit of a give-away.

She took another swing and the window shattered.

"Go!" she told Agnimata.

Once she was in, Yasaedra followed.

Agnimita

IC: The human did her best to get in threw the window struggling a bit at her hips. A moment latter she turned on her side and dropped in. The room was simple enough, a landing with a small ladder heading up and a set of stairs heading down. Off the side was a set of doors leading presumably to the ooze field room.

Yasaedra nimbly slipped in after her. She gave the room a quick glance, noting the three ways they could go.

"Let's go down, fire tends to go upward, so in case our friend decides to take a shot through the window, down would be preferable."

She hurried down the stairs, hoping not to trip anything.

Agnimita

IC: The pair moved swiftly down the stairs. The room bellow was that of two circles the big one of the tower overlapping with the small one of the stairs. Behind us were three mythril statues and across the room was another set of stairs down. This room seemed to be a dinning area. On the wall was pantry undoubtedly full of stale foods, but no foul odor was in the room.

"We might as well look around while we are here, and stay away from the statues. Mages always like to animate them or have goloms pose as them."

Yasaedra cast a spell that would allow her to see magical auras (Detect Magic). It was a useful spell for detecting magical traps and constructs. And it would be helpful in locating Agnimata's brother since he was likely laden with magic items.

Detect magic and company

IC: The very first thing that popped up was the pantry showing a fair amount of conjuration magic, the rest of the room was mostly dull except the golems posing as statues.

The golems suddenly spoke. "Password?"

Crap, should have thought of spellcasting triggering them. Her mind raced. They are golems, so they are unlikely to be able to be reasoned with unless he awakened them... They are made of mithral, so they are probably faster than an iron or stone golem...Question is, how much faster?

Might as well give it a shot, "We seek an audience with the master of the tower, were can we find him?"

She didn't expect it to work and her hand was ready to dart to DML at the first signs of attack by the golems.

Agnimita

IC: Immediately the golems started swinging. Agnimita stepped back narrowly dodging one. "I guess their owner doesn't like visitors." Agnimita drew her two swords while trying to gain some footing. Dodgeing the golem didn't leave her much room for attack. "I am also guessing spells won't work. Any ideas?"

By the abyss these things were fast! Yasaedra barely avoided the two fists aimed square at her chest. They smashed into each other with a loud bang above her head, leaving large dents in both fists.

"I'd recommend running or getting them to beat each other to expensive scrap."

Her incarnum was fully infusing her helm, with the remainder into her eyes, to help judge where they were aiming as they swung at her. She felt DML cast Haste on her, making her even more quick than before.

She dodged another swing from the left one, grabbed a hold of the outstretched arm and wrapped herself around it. Her defensive magic and incarnum barely deflected the blow from the middle one that would have nicked her. The one who's arm she was around took a swing with the other arm, she dropped down, causing the fist to smash into it's other arm. Immediately she rolled back between the legs of the one that she had just released, dodging the fist from the other that would have reduced her head to paste.

Thank the goddess they had no mind other wise she'd be most assuredly dead soon.

Agnimita

IC: "Make them attack each other. Well that should be nine kinds of simple." Agnimita did an acrobatic roll on the ground dodging another set of fists. She popped up striking one with her blade not leaving the slightest mark on its arm.

She then moved back and six seconds latter let loose a flurry of six attacks. The golem fared well but not perfect on its metal hull were five cuts. A second golem swung a surprisingly light metal fist into her side sending the human to the floor feet away. Agnimita spat a small amount of blood from her mouth. "On the bright side they don't seem to care about dodging."

The middle one turned around and hammered Agnimata across the room, which surprised her as much as Agnimata since it had been going after her.

"Nothing like a few tons of metal to inspire you to not care if your opponent hits you or not... where's a rust monster or dozen when you need them?"

The golem she was on turned and slammed its fist downward, another close call as she rolled away from the impact on the floor. She lept to her feet and jumped onto the back of the middle one which had just hit Agnimata. She was ready to leap again as soon as the other swung at her.

Agnimita

(Can you fix your last paragraph, I couldn't read it.)

IC: The slender human got back up on her feet and charged into the fray letting lose a pair of slashes. "Get ready to jump one is facing you."

Yasaedra lept from the golem in time, the fist slamming square into the back of the middle golem. She rolled back between the other one's legs. Hopefully that hit would get the middle one to consider the one she was behind an enemy.

She was ready to move just incase it didn't.
