Believe it or not, I'm reading a Nora Roberts novel right now (an older one) and it's a third person narrative, but the POV switches from person to person every few paragraphs. Ironically, it's not confusing in the least.
Well I wouldn't expect the infamous Ms. NORA to have to follow any publisher's rules for pete's sake! They'd let her do anything she wanted at this point. Just like no one will edit Stephen King's tomes back to a reasonable length anymore!
To be fair, it CAN be done... I said that back there somewhere... like any rule, it can be broken, and done well. And like any rule, it has to be learned before it can be broken (and done well...)
So the "general rule" for the rest of us peons still stands. (That word really does come from pee-ons, doesn't it?)

In case you haven't looked lately (I know it gets cumbersome when there's lots of comments ) this is the first feedback I noticed on your story:
in spite of the fact that the POV changes were maddening. You overcame that, or at least made them less distracting, but the story really needed some sort of differentiation between them; some warning that there was a POV shift happening.
