Dog day, Man Night

Boy looked as Bree fell asleep and he slowly got down from the couch he turned into human form and kissed her cheek with a little peck "You need some good rest" giving a sigh he gently picked her up and put her on the bed as he tucked her in. Walking out of the room he turned back and stood in the doorway for about two minutes then went down stairs.

He got into the fridge and got out a can of pop and carefully went out the back door and sat on the little patio looking in the house every once in awhile to make sure Bree did not come down. He cracked his neck as he looked at the stars it was a beautiful night, and he had enough excitement for the night so he decided just to relax and her pondered how he was going to tell Bree.

He looked up and the sun was coming out so he threw away the pop and headed up stairs he looked at her she was so beautiful it was unreal he slid into the bed next to her and cuddled real close he drifted into sleep as he turned back into dog form. The only thing that worried him was how long he could keep changing at his own will soon that would fade to and he would be stuck as a man at night and would be harder to keep from Bree.

Bree didn’t even wake up as she was being moved, she stirred only slightly as she felt him kiss her cheek but only leaned against him more when he picked her up. Once she was in her bed she curled up on her side sinking deeper into sleep. Dreaming of a stranger that seemed so that seemed familiar to her yet she didn’t know where she knew him from.

Morning came and Bree stirred finding herself once again cuddled up with a furry body. Smiling at him she slowly sat up trying not to disturb him. Looking around she realized that she was in her bed, which was strange because the last thing she remembered was watching sitting on the couch with Boy and watching that old horror movie. Maybe she had woken up at some point in the night and headed to bed and being so tired she didn’t remember doing it. That was the only explanation for her waking up in her bed or was it? Why did she have the feeling that that wasn’t right? Shaking her head she slipped from the bed and went and had a shower.

Once showered and dressed she headed down stairs and set out some food for Boy as well as made some toast for herself. As she was eating she went in search for the number of the local vet. Finding it she gave them a call and made a booking to get Boy stitched up. Hanging up the phone she looked at it and wondered when the expected phone call from her mother would came in regard to her date last night. Not feeling hungry any more she dropped her other slice of toast in Boy’s bowl for him.

It was morning now and he woke up Bree was not in her bed,and then he smelled the toast ooo toast he trotted down the stairs and rubbed against her like a cat to show he was being lovable. Wondering if she had pondered about being in bed,but he never regret moving her. Looking up at her he jumped up gently and gave her a kiss.

Sniffing as he smelled toast and went to his bowl to see a nice piece of it mmm this is so delicious the butter just melts in my mouth he thought to himself as he slowly ate it savoring it. He felt a little weak and did not know if today would be the last day he could ever morph freely. Shaking his head and scratching his ear he went outside and started rolling in the grass and barking playfully.

Going back into the house he plopped on the chair, and then an unfamiliar scent came over him as he went outside trying to look over but he could only see through. He heard people talking, and he just looked it was people do he gave a little growl and bark to protect his territory. They walked off and he trotted back in the house taking one of his chew bones that had meat on it and jumped on the couch chewing it and looking at Bree. Boy felt something was wrong, probably still thinking of Tony as he continued chewing on the bone.

Hearing Boy coming down the stairs she smiled at him as he joined her in the kitchen and then laughed as he rubbed against her. Are you a cat or a dog, she thought to herself and then was caught by surprise when he jumped up and licked my face. Laughing again she shook her head and watched him eat the toast. At least someone was still hungry, this thought made Bree look at the phone. Looking at it wouldn't make it ring or not ring which was what she wanted.

Sighing she turned away from the phone and made herself a drink and would turn the TV on. They had a little bit of time before the vet's appointment and she wasn't as worried about Boy as she had been the night before because of the way he was acting this morning he seemed he would be okay but she still wanted to get him checked out. She moved over to the TV and turned it on so she could listen to the news and watch Boy with his bone.

As she returned to the kitchen the phone rang and Bree just looked at it. "You think if I pretend I am not here she will go away?" Bree asked over her shoulder glancing at Boy before picking up the phone and answering it. The only word she got out of her mouth was Hello, before her mother started on her. When had she got a dog, why had she yelled at Tony, what was she thinking getting a vicious dog and allowing it in the house, why wouldn't she give Tony another chance, maybe she should get rid of the dog, if she has a dog that is going to scare off any bloke then where would that leave her. Bree sighed and buried her face into her arms as she leaned against the bench. The information network at its best Tony's side of the story already getting to her mother.

"Mum, stop for a second and take a breath and let me talk for a second," Bree said raising her head. When she was met with silence on the other end of the phone she continued. "First off Boy is not vicious and I had got him to guard the house because it was either that or find a guy. Well between him or Tony I would rather have Boy, so that is solved because I am not getting rid of him. Second of all it is my choice of who I see or not and I am choosing not to see Tony again and I don't want you to try and match me up with anyone else please mum." There was a continued silence and then a deep breath on the other end. "Bree are you sure about this, I think you and Tony would have been good toget............" her mother didn't get to say any more because Bree interrupted. "Look mum I have to go I am taking Boy to the vet we can have this discussion later if you really want. Bye, talk to you later." Hanging up Bree turned to Boy, "Come on lets go to the vet."

Boy looked at her as the phone rang and perked up at the mention of not getting rid off him "ooo she chose me how intriguing" he would have had a sinister look on his face, but instead his mouth came open as it looked like he smiled as he panted.

Boy didn't want to go to the vet,but he did want that ride and a ride trumps everything. He got off the couch and went to his leash in the hall way and pulled at it till it came off the hook shook it in his mouth playfully and trotted to Bree and sat in front of her dropping the leash at her feet. Looking at her until she picked it up. Wagging his tail as they walked out the door and he jumped in the car. Pawing at the window until it was down.

As the car was going and the Breeze went flying through his fur he stuck his head out further. Nipping at the air thinking he was going to catch it he looked at Bree as they stopped at a sign sneezed and stuck his head out of the window until they got to the vet.

When they got to the vet he just trotted in there like he owned the place looking at everyone sniffing every animal and to show he was not vicious he even let some guy pet him as he sat in front of him for about two minutes. Being satisfied he went back to Bree where she was and waited to be called back.

Not knowing what his response would be to her mention of the vet she had at least expected him to bulk at the idea, but to her surprise he vanished down the hall and then came back with his lead. Laughing softly to herself she crouched down in front of him and picked up the lead, giving him a pat on the head, “Good boy.” Heading out the door she grabbed her bag on the way, just as she reached the door she heard her phone ringing but she ignored it.

The drive to the vet had Bree feeling better after the phone call from her mother. Once she had gotten Boy in the car and the window open for him, she had turned her phone on silent. This wasn’t what made her feel better it was watching Boy from the corner of her eye as he snapped at the wind hitting his face.

Once at the vet, Bree walked in and looked around. Letting the leash go long she walked towards the desk and spoke to the lady behind it. Taking her a seat when she was told the vet would see her in a minute or two. Watching Boy roam around she smiled at the attitude he seemed to show at being here around all the other animals. Yet when he approached a man sitting a little distance from her she froze. What happened if he growled at this man she suddenly worried? Relief over took her when he didn’t growl but let the man pat him.

They didn’t have to wait long for the vet to call them and giving Boy a pat then they followed the vet to one of the rooms so he could have a look at Boy. Bree told the vet about coming back home and finding Boy bleeding, she didn’t know whether to tell him about Tony’s involvement but she chose to hold her tongue on that point for now. Standing there she watched as the vet look at Boy.

Boy walked back with a I am infamous attitude into the room the vet looked at him as he walked "He sure does have a lot of confidence for a dog don't you think?" he laughed as Boy looked behind him "First I need to weigh him" The vet was stunned at how much he weighed "He's a big boy however it not fat it is muscle almost two hundred never seen a chow that big although it possible do you know his background how long have you had him?"

Boy wrinkled his nose as the vet picked him up and put him on the exam table. He unwrapped the bandages the vet seen the blood, but to his surprise no wound. "Bree are you sure there was a wound?" he touched and pulled hair back looking at the bandages with a little bit of blood as he looked at her "I don't see anything wrong no holes,or puncture wounds nothing he is healthy.

He let Boy off the table and looked at Bree as he nudged her. "Sometimes the mind can play tricks I don't doubt there wasn't something wrong because there a little blood drainage, but I feel or see nothing" the vet sighed "Well he isn't fixed maybe he had gotten out?" he heard the little growl and chuckled "You should really think on having him clipped" Boy wrinkled his nose and mumbled at the idea. As he went to the corner of the room and stuck his head into the biscuit jar and pigged out.

Trying hard to hide a smile as she watched Boy walk into the room, she giggled when the vet laughed," He does." Watching as the vet did what he needed to, she was surprised when he said Boy was the big for his breed. Bree had never really seen Chow's before except for on pictures so she had never considered his size as being odd. Oh well just something else that made Boy special.

"I got him the other day from the pound, that didn't tell me anything if they knew anything about his history," she said. When the vet removed the bandage and found no sign of the wound she had seen the night before. Looking herself she saw nothing and just stood there staring. But she had seen the wound last night it had looked bad there was no way that it could have healed overnight could it? Looking at Boy as he nudged her she wondered if she maybe she was losing her mind, first thinking that she could understand him, then waking up in her bed and not remembering going to bed and now this. Maybe she just needed more sleep. The wound mustn't have been as bad as she fought.

Boy's growl cut through her thoughts and she shook her head and looked from Boy to the vet. "I think you just got the answer to that question," Bree said with a smile. Watching him eat the biscuit she frowned, "I don't think I will get him fix, not yet at least." In truth she hadn't thought about it and the way Boy growled made her think he didn't like the idea. "Well thank you for looking at him, sorry it was a waste of time. Come on Boy lets go home," she called to as she headed to the door. She didn't bother to put the lead on him trusting him to follow, heading to the desk she sorted out what she needed to and then head out of the vet and to the door, "Come on we'll go to the park."

Boy finally came up from eating biscuits and belched a little and followed Bree to the door as she was standing at the desk he sat beside her smelling some female in heat he stuck his nose up and looked at Bree as if he was too good for the female who seemed to nuzzle him. "It not a waste of time at all" He looked at Boy as he ignored the female in heat "Maybe it is safe not to get him fixed he seems to have no interest, but um still think on it"

Walking out of the vet office he lifted his leg before he got into the car;this was so exciting for him he loved going to the park. As he looked out the window until they got to the park. Getting his ball and started to run as he stopped looking back at Bree as if to see if she was coming. Seeing another male dog he glared at him as he gave a warning growl as he ran to Bree dropping the ball at her feet and rolling in the freshly cut grass. Looking up wanting her to pet him as he got up and went to an empty bench and sat by it waiting for her to come and join him.

Bree would keep the Vet’s words in mind, he was right she should consider getting him fixed but something made her question getting it done. Any way they had a day at the park to look forward too, so Bree pushed the idea of getting Boy fixed to the back of her mind with all the other issues she had to deal with. All she cared about at this moment was playing with Boy and getting some air. This made her smile as they drove to the park.

As soon as they were at the park and Bree had opened the door she watched Boy bolt off with his ball. Worried for a second that he might run off and keep going, not returning she sighed when she saw him stop and look back at her as if to see if she was still there behind him. Nothing to worry about, she told herself as she followed behind him. Noticing another dog she tensed as at Boy’s reaction but relaxed once again when he ran back to her and dropped the ball.

Picking up the ball as he rolled in the grass making her laugh, she then followed him to the bench. Sitting down she sat the ball beside her and started to pat him. “You’re a beautiful Boy,” she whispered, as she scratched him behind the ears. “Why do I need a man when I have you,” she whispered with a giggle giving her a good patting. Then she picked up the ball and threw it for him.

After about a half hour Boy was tired;it must be all this dog fat he carried around.Taking the ball back to Bree he stretched and yawned a big yawn showing his canine teeth they were sharp, but no harm done to those he didn't want to harm. Boy could tell Bree was thinking of something, and how he wished he knew what she was thinking.

He got up on the bench and laid down stretching out so no one could get on the bench he took up a lot of room he was kind of a big dog and he could see how some other dog owners were intimidated by him good because I rule this park he gave a little bark and whine at the same time as he licked Bree face covering her in kisses. The truth is he would protect her dog or human form and he wanted to leave he was getting bored and thirsty so when a man with a pop out water container poured water in it he jumped down went over and shoved the dog out of the way just to drink some water; lifting his head up and licking his lips he looked at the guy as he continued to drink from the container he heard Bree, but he ignored her and continued to drink.

When Boy seemed to have enough of playing and jumped up on the bench she was sitting on, Bree smiled at him and patted him when he stretched out. Giggling when he licked her face, she wondered how she had done without the championship of a dog before now. Thinking that they should head off home soon Bree was about to stand up when Boy jumped off the bench and took off.

Horror filled Bree when she saw Boy push the other dog out of the way and start drinking it's water. Quickly she run over to where the man just stood watching Boy. "Boy stop, that's not yours. Come here Boy," she called to him but he didn't pay any attention to her. "I am so sorry," she said to the man whose water Boy was drinking. "That's okay there is plenty of water and he seems thirsty," the man said with a smile. "It's not okay especially when he pushed your dog out of the way," she told him. "Come on Boy, it's home time for you now," she said as she attached the lead to Boy. "He's a nice looking dog," the man said. "Thank you, so is yours. I better get him home, sorry again," Bree said and tugged on the lead, to head towards the car.

Boy growled a low growl as she tugged on the lead;he didn't want to leave, and he knew she was just a young woman and he was in dog form however,He really hated being treated like that. Boy couldn't believe she over reacted it was just water he drank and the dog let him push him out of the way and the man did nothing so what was the big deal?

Getting in the car Boy yawned and looked at Bree as he licked her as if to say I am sorry without actually saying it,and with that he put his tail in the air and jumped in the back seat as he laid there looking out the window enjoying the scenery as Bree drove pretty fast. The window was down, and Boy felt the urge of turning into Obi although he couldn't do it in front of her,and it would be the absolute last time he could do it. If he didn't do it know he would be doomed it was his last chance of freedom.

He knew where Bree had lived;plus he wanted to see how she would react so on the next red light he leaped out of the open back window. Hearing Bree yell his name he looked at her as he sat there for a second then took off knowing she could not just get out fo her car especially when the light turned green.

Boy ran into an ally, and sniffed looking around no one was there so he crawled in a box and shifted as he picked up the old rags that were clothes and put them on. He was just going to walk around for an hour it was going to be the last he could shift in day light so he was going to enjoy it. Taking his hands and rubbing them on his face thinking what to do,and also thinking about what Bree was doing. "I know I am going to get it when I get home" he shook his head and giggled.

Walking out of the ally he went down the side walk it was a nice neighborhood seeing a man selling roses when the man was not looking he swiped a handful of roses.Putting them into the pocket of the old trench and went into the store stealing some pop and water. He noticed some girls so he stopped and talked giving his vocal cords Bree was the only one for him.

He was doing nothing but sitting and walking;an hour was almost up so he started headed home just in time too because he jumped over the fence and shifted into a dog again taking the old trench coat and dragging it into the corner and hid it as she took the roses in his mouth and went into the doggy door seeing Bree he went up to her and pawed her as he whimpered placing the roses at her feet. As if he was saying sorry for everything I have done.

When Boy growled Bree was a little taken back. He hadn’t growled at her since she had got him, she had heard him growl at Tony. Not knowing quite what to do about it she continued to the car. Quite upset that he had growled at her when she had thought she had done nothing wrong she walked back to the car in silence. Taking off his lead she let him jump in the car and then slipped in herself. When Boy licked her she felt like she was being apologized to, which made her feel happier though still confused on what she had done wrong in the first place. As he jumped in the back of the car Bree opened the window for him and set off home.

Coming to a stop at a red light she looked back at Boy just in time to see him leap out of the window. Lunging she reached for him but was pulled up short by her seatbelt. "BOY," she yelled and was about to undo her seat belt and jump out the car to get him when someone tooted behind her and she saw that the light had turned green. Torn between getting Boy and moving she swore and quickly drove on, she kept driving until she found some were she could pull over and park before jumping out of the car and locking it and running back to the lights.

Reaching the lights she looked around and called his name, searching for him. she headed in the direction she had thought he had gone and still found no sign of him anywhere. Upset at the thought she might have lost him she continued searching.

Finally when she had search almost the whole area she gave up. Slowly walking back to her car, she go in and drove home. The house seemed empty when she walked in without Boy there. Not knowing what to do, she didn't feel like working what she really wanted to do was go out searching some more. Maybe she could call the pound or some of the local vets maybe they could keep an eye out. But it seemed too early to do that. The sound of the dog door swinging open and then closed made her look up and she saw Boy walking in. Looking down at him as he pawed and whined at her she shook her head and then quickly got onto her kneels hugging burring her face into his furry neck. "Where have you been?" she said, "I was so worried what happened if you got hit by a car or someone took you."

It took her a couple of minutes to calm down enough to realize that he had walked in with something. Pulling back far enough so she could look down she spotted the roses and looked at them puzzled. "Now where did you get theses from," she said as she picked them up and lifted them to her nose to smell them.

Boy nudged her while she sniffed the roses, and gave a little whimper as he went outside again laying on the porch. He distant himself from her because deep in his heart he knew that tonight might be the last that the could change whenever he wanted to. After tonight it was most likely he would have to tell her that he was cursed, but how could he? Giving a little grumbling and sighed. As he heard a commotion coming from the kitchen. Looking back he seen Bree get a vase she seemed to be enjoying his flower gifts he had gotten her.

Boy felt a sharp pain as if there were needles sticking in his rib and he gave a little yip, quiet enough that Bree could not hear him;slowly getting up he felt weak as he walked back into the house and jumped on the couch.Placing his head on the arm of it looking at Bree in all her beauty. He did not want to frighten her,but he could not keep on lying to her. Letting out a little sigh again he watched her every move wondering how he was going to break it to her. Wondering how she was going to take the news.

Maybe it wouldn't be so bad,and that she would accept him for who he is.He thought in his head why not she accepts me as a dog why not a man. Getting down and drinking some water he got back up on the couch and stretched out waiting for her to come and sit with him. Boy felt bad for all the grief he had given her,and he was going to make up for it when he was in man form he intended to.

Bree watched Boy over the roses as he left. He kept surprising her in the short time they had lived together she had never felt so many emotions. Happiness, love, anxiety, lose, fear and anger, all because of one dog. What then would the future hold for the two of them. A small laugh burst from her lips and she shook her head and went to put the roses in water. Once she had the vase and filled it with water she stood at the bench positioning the roses admiring them.

Out of the corner of her eye she saw Boy come back inside and settle on the couch. She wondered where he had been and where he had gotten the roses from. Did it matter? she thought to herself. No, it didn't he was home now and that was all that mattered. Once she was happy with the arrangement of the flowers she moved away from the bench and headed over to the couch where he laid.

Sitting beside him she ran her fingers through his fur and leaned over and hugged him. "You really scared me you know, I thought I had lost you. The place didn't feel the same without you and I was so worried that I would be all alone," she told him looking into his doggy eyes. That was it wasn't it, Bree had never felt lonely living by herself yet at the thought that Boy wouldn't come back she had left loneliness grip her heart.
