For those that have sun and no snow....the rest of us hate you! :p

Hey Caela!

Hows the midget?

lol...Hey YC. P is doing very well. She's growing like a weed and seems to be learning, or doing, something new everyday. It's amazing to watch her sometimes cause she is just remarkable to me. She's running all over the place, and is a little chatterbox, pretty independent most of the time too but when she wants her cuddles she wants them now.

The short answer is she's good lol.

How's life treating you on your side of the computer?

Life is good. Budget cuts at the university are forcing less classes and larger capacities. Got to hurry up and get out, just a few more to go. It's getting tricky just puzzling together what and when to take.

Great news about the little one.

But, how have you been?

I know how that is. Keeping 12 units and all on just 2 days a week at my community college is difficult. Less than 12 units = no medical insurance :(

I've been good. Being a mommy agrees with me most days. Work is meh but I'm planning to start looking for a new job come spring. Not much happening on the personal front. But then that's o.k. cause I'm not really looking to start dating someone when I plan to leave this state in a few months.

Overall, life is pretty good.

Lucky you, just get up and leave, a job will be their.

Damn health providers, what makes them so important

 Ya I would imagine dating at this point to be like juggling two relationships. Unless you find a guy that doesn't faint at the word father.

What state do those guys live in?

It's not quite as easy as just "get up and leave" in my field. I'm fairly specialized being a Surgical Technologist so it's not like an Rn where I could work any floor in the hospital just to get my foot in the door. I'm really only useful in surgery. But it's still easier than a lot of other fields.

I don't know what state those guys live in lol. If I did I would move there! Actually I might not, I'm not really looking for a father for her. If I started dating anyone right now I would probably keep it casual, someone to have fun with, go out with, maybe a little friendly sex but I'd keep him out of her life. No one is going to get anywhere near P unless I'm actually at the point of thinking they could be worth keeping around for the long term. Just "dates" won't be meeting her.

I can't tell if you are being protective or if you just said you just want fuck buddies. You aren't becoming one of those jaded surgeons are you?

You know the ones, they just carve up meat bags for profit, the "oh crap that move was kind of rough, no problem it'll probably just fix itself, plus the guys unconscious, he wont know, I haven't even seen his face", type guys.

Don't lose your people skills.

lol...I am being protective, and saying that all I want right now are fuck buddies. Since I'm planning to move out of state, starting something serious with anyone would just be a waste of my time and his. Most of it is being protective of P though, I don't want a string of men in and out of her life. If I get serious with someone then he'll get to meet her but while it's still casual I'll keep them clear of her, it's not fair for her to get connected to someone and then just have them gone. My mom did that when I was a kid and it pissed me off. I got to the point where I was so jaded with it that I was a miniature mega-bitch when she started bringing guys home cause I just figured they'd leave and I was tired of being left.

Don't want to do that to P.

As for the surgeon thing, most of them aren't like that. At least the majority of them that I work with aren't. Some of them are rougher than others but a lot of that depends on specialty and what the surgery itself it. For instance a total hip replacement is by it's very nature a much rougher surgery then a craniotomy to remove a tumor. One requires very delicate handling of the brain, the other requires a power saw to chop up bones. ~shrugs~ Most docs are pretty good about taking as good care of their patients as they can. Some do feel rather pointless however when they're doing a procedure that the patient insists on but they know is a waste of time because the patient is going to be non-compliant when they check out of the hospital.

I'd say 2/5 - 3/5 of surgeons are jerks. They just have this arrogant swagger and want to do the most complicated shit possible, and the routine stuff becomes a game, finish as fast as possible.

lol...Your numbers would be off at my hospital. The routine stuff is what pays their bills so they respect it. Yeah they want to get it done quickly so they can do more cases but at the same time they've done it so often so they could probably do it in their sleep.

Hell I] could probably do a couple of those cases in my sleep and I'm not a doctor!

The swagger...yeah that's pretty common but then again they spend their time cutting on people to make them better, that's bound to make anyone arrogant.

Hmm, I just get the feeling their is some kind of anti social element in it all.

They constantly interact with people who are out, and they interact through cutting them open and doing stuff in their.

What does that do to a person?

I'm not suggesting anything crazy, or saying they need help, but you know, I get the feeling they get kind of sick of people overall. Or possibly lose track of the personal space norms of the society they are in.

Not terribly bad, but it kind of makes them dicks.

I kinda think you're both right. I think most surgeons truly care about their patients and do want to help people. I also think that ALL the surgeons that I've known, both personally and professionally, have kind of been dicks. But this is obviously a mileage-will-vary issue.

Don't forget all the time they have to spend in their offices listening to people bitch and whine about the same problem over and over and over again...and then not bothering to do what the doctor tells them is needed to fix the problem so they're back in a month with the same complaint.

Yeah some of them are dicks who don't get out enough some of them recognize that a balance is needed and that the hospital isn't the whole world and are pretty damned nice.

The same can be said of a lot of hospital staff not just the docs.

Anyone know if this forum has some kind of a cap on thread length? I'm just wondering if we're going to hit it at some point.

Not that I'm aware of. There's a thread over on the SRP board that is over 1600 pages long. If there is a cap, we're nowhere near it yet! :)

ETA: Went to double check my numbers, the thread I was thinking of is 1681 pages to be precise.

lmao...It's actually not. It's one of the "Lounge" threads. Just sort of a spot for the different folks to hang out and chat really. There can be smut sometimes but mostly it's just writers talking, catching up with each other outside their stories.
