Dr Who: The Wheel of Time

The Doctor

"Yes, of course I do." The Doctor rummaged through his pockets briefly, pulling out an assortment of oddments before smiling and settling on a recorder, which he began to play.. badly. Moving around the control room as he played, the Doctor peered at various instruments, tapping his head in time with the Celtic aire he had chosen to mangle.

Eventually, he stopped playing and looked at Jinx. "Well, old girl, are you ready to explore a bit?"

Melanie

That 'are-you-crazy' look came over Melanie's face again as she watched the Doctor move around, playing a tune that would make dogs bay.

When he spoke to her, it took her a moment to register that he had, much less what he was saying.

"What? Oh...um...I guess so," She looked confused,"But how is that going to get us unlost?"

The Doctor

Startled as though noticing her presence for the first time, the Doctor jumped back from Jinx, his eyes wide. "No, no.. I was talking to the TARDIS! But, since you are here, I may as well explain how these things work."

He patted a stool near the control center's main work area. "Things happen, Jinx. Everywhere, and everywhen. As a Time Lord, it is my solemn duty to poke my nose in at every opportunity and interfere as much as Gallifreianly possible. And, between you and me, that is quite a lot."

Pausing to pop a candy in his mouth, and prop his legs up on a console, the Doctor continued, "The High Council advised me of the Master's escape, and probably expecting me to do something about it. HAH!" he snorted. "I've spent quite enough time dancing to their tune, and even more time stepping on the Master's toes while he danced. This time, we're just going to go to wherever this strange 'hole' in space the TARDIS' sensors are picking up. As far as I'm concerned, the Master and I have seen enough of one another to last several regenerations!"

The TARDIS whirled quietly through space, heading straight toward the strange rip in the fabric of spacetime it had detected moments earlier.

Melanie

Melanie looked from the Doctor to the view screen with growing panic.

You mean we are heading for a big hole in space without even knowing where it will take us or when...or even if we will get anywhere or anywhen or just be destroyed the moment we hit it? She almost shouted, jumping off her chair to rush to the view screen and the approching anomaly.

This was worse than any of her goofs. And the Doctors was doing it deliberatly. Maybe he had gone mad. Maybe that big war machine had hit him and he hadn't told anyone and now he had been pushed over into the edge of madness.

Whirling around, she made completely meaningless gestures. "Doctor!" She said, trying to bring some sense back into this whole thing,"Doesn't that sound a bit crazy?"

She had no time for being polite, nice or even respectful. They were tumbling full tilt toward something that could, very well, get them killed. Now was a time for doing something. Anything. To get out of this predicament.

The Doctor

As the TARDIS began to creak and groan, evidently picking up speed as it hurtled towards the strange rift, the Doctor cried out, "My dear Jinx, I am but mad north-north-west: when the wind is southerly I know a hawk from a handsaw!"

Melanie

Melanie shook her head at his apparent madness and rushed over to him, preparing to try and shake some sense into him when the TARDIS lurched under the strain and she was thrown into him, making them both tumble to the floor in a pile of arms and legs and confusion and wiping out any hope that the Doctor would be able to do anything to stop their rush into the hole.

The Doctor

Attempting to extricate himself from the tangled pile their limbs and bodies had made, the Doctor accidentally squeezed a sensitive portion of Jinx's anatomy. "Oops! No, that isn't the transspace inducer coil.. damn, you should have reminded me that there aren't any winds, southerly or not, in the TARDIS."

The TARDIS began to shake them even more violently, bouncing them around the cabin until they lost consciousness. Some time later, the Doctor awoke. He moved over to where Jinx lay, then checked her pulse and respiration carefully, deciding that she was largely unhurt and would wake up shortly. Softly, he murmured, "My apologies, dear girl, but I needed to get to wherever the Master was as quickly as possible, and forcing your strange probability-altering powers to work for us was the only way I could see." He laid a tender kiss on her forehead, then moved back to where he had first awoken, and laid himself down in a sprawl, feigning unconsciousness.

Melanie

Melanie heard a groan and it was quite a few moments before she realized that it was her. Blinking, she opened her eyes and stared at the ceiling wondering, for a moment, where she was.

Then everything came rushing back at her and she sat up quickly, grabbing her head in her hands as she did so, discovering that it was a very bad move, indeed.

Letting the TARDIS stop spinning in her mind, she was finally able to look around to access the damages. Well, whatever accessment she could do as she wouldn't know if it was broken, except for physical damage that was obvoiusly seen, if her life depended on it.

Her gaze fell on the sight of the Doctor on the floor and she scrambled to her feet, lurching unsteadily towards where he lay in apparent uncosciousness.

Dropping down to her knees beside him, she tried to turn him over to see if he was hurt.

"Doctor!" She called to him, shaking him gently and trying to keep the panic from her voice,"Are you alright? Please, please answer me!"

The Doctor

Slowly, the Doctor opened his eyes. "So, Jinx... was the Snark a Boojum, after all?" He leaped to his feet. "Nevermind, nevermind, my dear Alice... wonder if there is a bar here, wherever 'here' is. Well, don't just stand there, let's go find out!"

With that, he grabbed his floppy hat and scarf from their miraculously untouched perch atop a cigar store Indian which had also managed to remain upright throughout the flight. Donning his hat and scarf, he waved to Jinx, urging her to follow him outside.

Melanie

The burst of energy from the Doctor, though not unusual, did not help Melanie's dizziness and she sat down on the floor with a thump as he moved about preparing to leave the TARDIS.

Blinking at him, she wondered if he had gotten worse after the rough ride and then remembered that this was pretty much par for the course with the Doctor and sighed, getting to her feet again and moving over to accompany him out.

Stepping out of the Doctor's craft, Melanie groaned as she sank into what seemed to be a swamp or bog, the ground saturated and muddy.

Looking down at her feet, she blew trendils of hair from her face and complained,"Yuck! And I just bought these too!"

The Daleks

The new TARDIS activitely was brought to the Supreme Dalek immediately. Luckily, the Tardis Sensor Daleks had spaced themselves out and had been scanning since the first detection. This second one was not in the same area, but that did not worry the Supreme Dalek.

Instructions were sent out, and the scouting party turning to explore the general area they'd recieved activity from.

They hovered a few inches abouve the bog as they headed throughout the area, weapons at the ready. The stayed relatively close together, eye stalks scanning to and fro.

They had strict orders to take the Doctor alive, but kill if it happened to be any other Time Lord. Though the Supreme Dalek's orders were not understood by the soldiers, they did not question them.

The Master

Who....or What are you? The Master had thought to himself and not aloud - but he didn't realise till it was too late that this creature standing not even five feet away in front of him was faceless.

I/We are the native inhabitance of Genesis, benefactors and heirs to the Ancients. And Who are you, stranger? The being responded tonelessly.

The Master knew his thoughts were being read. So he answered his right hand drawing closer to the Quantum stunner he carried. I am The Master. I have no idea how I got here and I am trying to find out why I am here of all places.

The being was silent and then walked past the Master. Come with me to my villiage, you are the first stranger of many that have come mysteriously to my/our planet. Come now...Master.

The Master's hand dropped from the stunner and his mouth opened in amazement...... Others, rather than himself and the Daleks had landed here as well? Did they too get drawn into that hole in space...and land here?

The Creature did not answer but continued on through a path that would ultimately lead to the grassland that held his villiage. The Master had no other place to go to on this strange yet interesting planet. And he followed silently behind the strange alien creature.

Daniel Jackson SG-1

Daniel followed Jack into the mission briefing room. They found General Hammond already waiting for them sitting down perusing paperwork. When they entered, General Hammond looked up and let go of his pen in his right hand.

"Jack and Daniel. Welcome. Have a seat and we'll wait for Major Carter, who I must say is never late for mission briefings, I usually hold that title to you Jack."

Daniel smirked alittle at the jibe the General had playfully swatted at Jack. And so they waited for Samantha to show up.

Samantha Carter

At that moment a very flustered Maj Samantha Carter opened the door and came into the room. Her face was flushed as if she had been running down the hall (which she had) and her breathing was irregular attesting to the fact that she had hurried here, knowing she was going to be late.

Taking a deep breath, she said,"Sorry. Got caught up in those artifacts that we found on the last mission and lost track of time.'

With the flash of an apologetic smile, she slipped into her seat, placing her hands, folded together, on the desk and turning her attention to those at the table for the briefing.

Jack O'Neill - SG1

Nodding to Samantha, Jack sat quietly, waiting for their boss to get to the reason for their being there instead of on vacation.

The Doctor

The Doctor leaned back, looking at the sky and taking a deep breath. "Ah, Jinx, smell that? That is pure life fermenting beneath us.. primordial ooze, and all that." He pulled out an odd device and fiddled with it briefly, muttering to himself.

After a few minutes of this, he set out with confident strides away from the TARDIS. "This way!"

Melanie

"That," Melanie said with distain,"Is muck and it smells like churing sh...." She stopped as the Doctor began to walk away from her and struggled to follow him in the gloppy, sucking ooze.

"Doctor!" She yelled after him, the mud and muck getting further up her leg as she sloghed through it. "Where are you goin? Wait for me!"

The Daleks

The Dalek search party began moving out across the area where they'd detected TARDIS activity. Their extermination guns at the ready, they began the long, routine maneuver of searching the area for life.

Who knows what they may find?

The Cybermen

As several of the Daleks entered the bog-like area where their instruments had detected the TARDIS, they themselves were detected by a lone black Cyberscout, who stood atop a hill some miles away. The scout scanned the Dalek search party, then relayed his data back to the ship.

"Leader," said the Lieutenant. "Scout four reports sighting several energy signatures moving into sector five seven zero three. Type unknown."

The Cyber Leader was silent for a moment as his computerized mind formulated the most logical plan with the most successful simulated outcome. "Tell the scout to follow targets and gather more data."

"Affirmative." The Cyber Lieutenant sent out instructions to the distant scout, who then descended the hill to follow the Daleks at a discreet distance.

Daniel Jackson SG-1

It wasn't long that a flustered looking Samantha Carter entered giving her apologies and reason for the lateness. Daniel smiled at her and nodded toward her.

He knew she spoke the truth for when he was with artifacts he lost all sense of time. For Daniel it was a release from the mundane and a chance for the mind to expand above unlimitless potential.

Daniel was kind of surprised by Jack's silence except for a nod, usually he would crack a off-colour comment....but not this time. Maybe because they all wanted to know what this hastily arranged meeting was about.

"Welcome Major Carter, Daniel and Jack. I am sorry for calling you all back from vacation but an important matter has come into the fore. 2 hours ago we were sent a urgent message from Thor of the Asgard. Their is some strange phenomenon out in their sector of the galaxy and due to their resources being stretched fighting the Go'uld and that they believe SG-1 is best suited for this type of mission. This is a world we have never been before or had the stargate co-ordinates until now. This will be purely a analytical and research mission. The phenomenon is mentioned in the mission briefs and you all leave in the next our. Any questions?"

General Hammond looked around at the group.

The Wheel Of Time - Supplement Plotline

The Guardian recieved the news that all the new arrivals had arrived bar one.

The ancient being moved over to the silent unmoving Wheel of Time and touched a panel underneath it.

Suddenly the Dome around the settlement momentarily pulsed in rythmnic beatings and above and around the Planet Genesis a forcefield began to take shape.

Now until the game was played out, no one would leave the planet but could arrive. Silently the Guardian moved back to his seat and sat down like a statue.

Messangers to the Arrivals - The Kharasii

As the Indegenous beings of the planet had made themselves known to The Master, now to they would make themselves known to the other New Arrivals on their planet. For their sole aim was to be the will of the Ancients and their prophecy of fulfilment.

They came as messangers one on one with the strangers who had landed suddenly on their planet.

Messanger 1: To The Daleks

Xuratl was the messangers' name and it looked at the party of strange beings move closer to him. Xuratl stepped infront of the Dalek party and stood still and bowed to the leading Dalek and said telepathically (as was their only form of contact);

"Welcome to Genesis, Daleks. I am Xuratl, I will be your guide."

And Xuratl waited for the responce, not knowing what to expect.....

Messanger 2: To the Cybermen

Yirpret followed the scout who was following the other new arrivals. He stepped behind the cyberman a twig breaking underneath him. Yirpret hoped that would gain the Arrival's attention.

Messanger 3: To the Doctor & Companion

Takhai followed the strange two beings someway but knew that he needed to get their attention. Takhai moved silently infront of them some way up the trail and waited for them. It leaned on a tree branch and saw the approach of the two individuals it had been assigned too.

"Greetings Arrivals and welcome to Genesis," Takhai said as they came into earshot.

And so first contact was made.....and now the game of creation and death was about to begin.

The Daleks

The lead Dalek focused its eye stalk on the creature. In military precision, two broke off from the group, aiming their extermination guns at the creature, and the others turned, scanning the distance.

The commanding Dalek scanned the creature, his processors working to uncover what it was the creature was using to speak. Coming across only one conclusion, he determined that the creature was using a form of telepathy.

"Greetings."

Already, the Commanding Dalek was sending signals back to the ships. A series of things began at once. The commanding Dalek was informed that an inverted forcefield had enveloped the planet, blocking off all forms of escape.

"Come. We will direct you to the Supreme Dalek. He awaits you."

The commanding Dalek turned, and headed back towards the ships, the rest of the force coming to bear, eye stalks scanning the area, extermination guns at the ready.

The Doctor

The Doctor looked at the strange creature who had addressed them, and smiled broadly. "Look, Jinx! We're on Genesis! Isn't that fantastic?" He turned away from the new person, and whispered to his Companion, "What's Genesis?"
