Dragon Ball: Forgotten Generations (OOC)

I've sent, or will send, PMs to some of you in regards to continuing the story. Perhaps it might be best to get a tally of those that are okay with punching through it.

It's fine. Sure it's a bit Mary Sue but honestly depending on how far down the foodchain we're talking (I forgot what year it is) not being related to them both and being Saiyan is absurd. I'd give it a three generations tops before they managed that IRL.

I'm having a sad laugh while reading up on some of the MS traits. I really am pushing Vanessa into the mold.

That's not to say that having MS traits makes one a MS. She could be stubborn... so long as her stubbornness isn't used in such a way that she's always right by being stubborn.

If that makes sense...

It depends on how long after DB we're talking and how aggressively AU we went. I didn't question it a lot earlier because it made (and still makes) little difference to me.

But supposedly 8% of the population of Earth is descended from Genghis Khan. I can only imagine that number goes up astronomically if you are talking about people in certain regions of Asia. Saiyans would work much the same way except 100% of them are related to either Goku or Vegeta unless you Alternate Universed Raditz in since he is the only named Saiyan in all of cannon who isn't or Vegeta. Ignoring the movies and Super's Cabba for the moment.

The way I understand it, Mary Sues are fanfic characters that are introduced into an existing fandom and then somehow become the absolute center of attention, the star around which everyone else orbits.

Respectfully, that's not what you're doing here.

You're creating a new storyline, of which she is the main character. And main characters are meant to be remarkable and have remarkable things happen to them, otherwise how would the tale merit telling?

Saiyans, if I IIRC correctly, breed true with humans despite any number of generations, Goku's greatgreatgreatgrandkids would be no less powerful than his kid. So having his bloodline cross with Vegeta's wouldn't make Vanessa any more powerful, it just means she has to decide whose legacy she wants to honor more.

I would argue that being of both blood lines in the fictional sense (not the irl as I explained. There are probably literally millions of people who can correctly claim to be of Genghis Khan, Charlemagne, Ceasar and Leonidas.) it essentially makes her super God. It's not logical at all, hell we are NEVER given any reason to doubt that Vegeta is being truthful when he says that Kakkarot is low born scum who should never acheieve that kind of power. I.E. Hard work (and being born Saiyan) is the only thing that matters.

I've personally got no problem with it at all.

I don't know much about DBZ, so I could definitely be wrong, but I remember being told about some coda to the show where generations later, Goku's descendants and Vegeta's were still rivals with each other, and they were lighting up Super Saiyan as much as if they were pureblooded.

So storywise, it's fertile ground for that frenemy rivalry to transition to a love-hate relationship, maybe a romance, somewhere along the way. And based on my understanding, yeah, it's what Vanessa puts into her Saiyan heritage, not the purity or dilution of that heritage, that should determine how powerful she becomes.

In any case, I had Flute get her Namek DNA from multiple sources, including Piccolo, so there's little difference there.

Not that most fans ever respected GT as true cannon and Super more or less officially banishes it but GT: A Hero's Legacy has Goku Jr (who is I believe four generations removed from Goku proper as Pan's grandson) essentially reliving Dragonball proper, reawaking SSJ and meeting Vegeta Jr at the latest contest. The two meet and immediately declare each other rivals in a cute say similar to Gotten and Trunks.

Ahhhh, that must have been it.

I heard GT was anathema.
