And yes, there's complexities to every conflict, but this one is that Russia is the aggressor. Period. Whether we help Ukraine defend itself or not is a separate issue.

Actually , the antecedent of this conflict happened when Ukraine abandoned plans for closer economic ties with the EU in November of 2013. Shortly after that, Germany and the US regimes began supporting a coup of the democratically elected pro-Russian government in Ukraine, in order to install a Washington-compliant regime. That is the backdrop of the aforesaid WP remarks.

There isn’t a country on earth whose territorial boundaries are respected by the diktats of Capital. The moment a nation orients in another direction, it is targeted for regime change.

Where Russia is concerned, the question is how far back one wants to go.

On Trotsky’s insistence, the constitution of the newly established Soviet state put Ukrainians and Russians on the same ground before the law—as a matter of constitutional principle. As late as only several years before his assassination by Stalin’s agent, Trotsky continued to insist that Ukraine retained the right to withdraw from the union of its own volition and without reprisals.

The ignore/censor button notwithstanding, I see few attempts at anything more than doubling down on reaction. The US once had a substantial peace movement. That has collapsed. Given a chance and the petty bourgeoisie falls flat on its face at the first opportunity.

The US peace movement must be rebuilt from the ground up. But that will be coming from neither of the US capitalists parties, or the respective social classes for which they speak.

The 30 year timeline to which I initially linked aggressors the points that have been raised. Instead of referencing that, I’ve been told that I ignore the Minsk Agreement, and Crimea, and so on.

Yeah, President Obama should have started World War III over a region of 2014 non-vetted Ukraine.



President Obama handled the Crimea situation in a perfectly reasonable manner. America supported Ukraine guardedly as Ukraine addressed its corruption issues. Once Ukraine achieved certain benchmarks, America increased the level of military support accordingly.

Of course, Ukraine must have been a bit confused that they were expected to root out corruption, even as the most corrupt “President” is US history (Dolt 45) attempted to extort them for political gain.



President Biden has continued to increase America’s support of Ukraine in a diplomatic and pragmatic manner. President Biden’s holding back of F-16s makes sense, as Ukraine wouldn’t see a great benefit from its capabilities, while risking an escalation from Russia. It also puts pressure on NATO allies to up their commitments. The UK’s recent delivery of Storm Shadow cruise missiles may be evidence of President Biden strategy working. Thank you President Biden!!!

Putin and Russia escalated by employing their new “invincible hypersonic missiles” (which were shot down by US Patriot missile systems) in attacks against Kyiv, and by targeting a depleted uranium shell cache in far west Ukraine.

The west is done showing restraint when it comes to conventional weapons.

With the announcement of F-16’s, the message has been sent that the west is done making Ukraine fight with one hand tied behind its back. I wouldn’t be surprised to seen the longer range HIMARS missiles being approved for Ukraine in the very near future as well.
