As on most subjects, you aren't really informed on this subject. It was the Democrats who walked away from the Vietnam War, after it had been won. The NV would not have been in Paris suing for peace if they were really on top. What they detected was the lack of will on the part of the Democrat Congress to pursue victory that was entirely at hand. Instead they shrugged off the deaths of 58,000 men as if that sacrifice meant nothing and cut off funding for the war.

The police action in Vietnam was discontinued because it was broadcast into American homes and people started to ask wtf is going on. The American people demanded an end to that war.

As for the Democrats, Robert McNamara the architect of that disaster had the balls to write a book admitting that it was a mistake. Fuck him!

My point is that we never should have been there fighting the alleged domino effect of communism. The US could have won that war but the concern was that escalating to the point where the US dominated ran the risk of inviting China to join the party. McNamara, the D presidents and the R presidents were wrong. Anti-war protesters were right.
