as the cook, I normally focus on one to the detriment of the other. I can imagine the day, once the last kid has gone off to college, having my schedule messed with...or perhaps not. my lover loves food. perhaps i shall have to come up with a wider variety of menu.

Well, when enjoying a lover and cooking concurrently, I find it best to ask them to sit on the counter in the kitchen next to the food prep. (close enough to my glass of wine, and safely enough away from the oven/stove) This way, they are easily within reach to feed, tease, taste as you prep, stir, chop, and bake. Chop the veggies for the salad and slip one into his/her mouth... Stir the sauce, and let them sample it in the final stages of "does this need more salt?". Sauces t tend to drip, splatter, or splash are the most welcome.

Consider these nibbles of you and your meal as you prep and cook an amuse bouche to the "meal" at the end. Cooking is the foreplay of the meal after all. Also, it helps if you choose meals that have steps that require slow simmers and longer cook times... not an intensely temperamental quiche for example. And depending on the meal, you can always plan on one bite type appetizers on hand slip in while the other food cooks if it will be a bit of a wait. OR, plan a whole meal around one bite appetizers... fondue is a decadently wonderful choice for staying in for dinner.

Whew, now I am hungry!

Those look truly delicious.

I agree with MWY that food can be an aphrodisiac. But the reverse is also true - it can be a huge turn-off. There are types & presentations of food that I find thoroughly disgusting, for personal taste and/or ethical reasons. Hence my comment about food compatibility and relationships.

So I'd like to start a discussion of the many, many ways that we incorporate food in our sex and sex in our food. What's your favorite combination of food and sex? What are some ways to combine the two that you would like to try but haven't?

I don't know if this has anything to do with this, but when I saw food and sex I thought about this weird fantasy I've had recently of wanting to be eaten out on a table in a dinner type setting. The guy doing it would be seated in his chair as if he were eating a meal. Hope to try it eventually.
