Endless Curiosity

Sooooooo.....

What you're really saying is guys on dating sites are the same as guys on Lit? :p

Feel free to correct me, Jenny.

Well guys are guys- DUH.

They're not as likely to send you a dick pic right off the bat, and maybe not as blatant as here. And I guess they're better on some sites than others.

To be fair, though, I've become friends with most guys I talk to regularly here without them pushing the sex talk.

So basically, I think I don't know what I'm talking about.

I think you're pretty accurate.

Honestly, it sounds like the dating sites are far worse than Lit! LOL.

I think the rules of engagement are better defined here, and the balance of power is almost overwhelmingly in a woman's favor.

You're more likely to have to work harder to get and keep the attention of a top-drawer fella (assuming you find one) that you meet on a dating site. It's not an adult erotic site and there are guys who have never been in a chat room, so you need to expect a wider variety of backgrounds and expectations, and be prepared with a wider variety of approaches.

Serious flirting is taken more seriously because the guys are (usually) single-ish and have a reasonable expectation of meeting in person.

One thing remains the same: douchebags abound. :p

Online dating is a fucking blast!

I get to present myself via the written word? And a few hand-picked pics? It's like fish in a barrel.

Lit has given me the wherewithal and confidence to flirt circles around them boys till they're whipped into a frothy frenzy, and also tell them where they can stick it if they get fresh.

What? Some chode requires I submit a full body shot for his inspection before he will chat beyond three lines of text? Bahaha! *Almost* as much fun as a guy I *actually* like. I usually tell them at that point that I've got three tits. Responses are mixed.

I met my BF online. He was sweet, funny, warm, assertive but not aggressive--he pursued me--and he didn't ask for titty pics! What a gem!

Little did I know we'd be playing Me Tarzan You Jane a few weeks later.

And he's one kinky motherfucker! But he was a perfect gentleman with me. At first.

Wow, this topic is one I've long wondered about. I'm glad so many have shared!

I've never made the transition from online to in person. I hope to someday test the chemistry and see if it translates, but no such luck yet.

I've never done the online dating thing either. I think I'm in the "sheltered life" camp. We have granola bars.

I want smores, dammit!

Smores are awesome!!!

This is a fascinating conversation. Ok. I admit, I've been lurking again. There. I said it.

I've never used an online dating site. The advantage they have, of course, is that you can find local people to date. But Lit has other advantages. I think you can really get to know a person here, and there's no expectation of meeting in person until you've shared a WHOLE LOT of yourselves, in conversation and otherwise. And at that point, the whole awkward first date thing doesn't exist. I've met several Litsters. Not all visits included sex. But I'll admit to getting on planes to spend some quality time with one. Maybe two. But that's all I'm saying. And they're still dear friends to this day. Always will be, regardless of whether I ever see them again or not. One has evolved into more. So yes. After all that rambling, just yes. It translates.

Dammit! I missed that website, I guess!

Fascinating reads and opinions!
I've been curious about this too. Lit is my first and only online anything slightly romantical or sexical, and I was a little nervous joining. I didn't know what the "expectations" would be. I was otherwise employed overseas during the formative years of dating sites and now apps and always dismissed them as something for "those punk kids that won't get a job!" After that time passed I spent a few years avoiding people in general until I reached a point that I forgot how to flirt, socialize, etc. For me, the goal here is not to find something that has to transition into real life so to speak (though I don't rule it out either), but more of a first step towards transitioning myself back to real life.

I'm not sure if that makes sense, but the alcohol made me say it!

So, that's another yes. I have to admit I am a little surprised by the avalanche of ayes. Who knew? Apparently everyone but me.

PS: We like your ramblings, beachbaby. ;)

This. "First and only online anything slightly romantical or sexual."

Of course, I didn't join for the romantical or even the sexical. My motives were purely information driven.

I stay for the romantical and sexical. :p

I didn't mean to sound too technical. It's not because I'm egotistical about my intrinsical grammatical lexical. It just really was logical to make the endings identical even if it was nonsensical. But now I'm just making a spectacle and being theatrical and maybe a bit hysterical...Our orbit is elliptical

It's my new favorite word!
sexical...great word!

I think we may be putting in the 'lexical'. :D

I wanna know what you're drinking. And how much of it you've had!

Somebody sit on his face.

Is no one else just a bit curious as to how many other words he can come up with that end in -cal?
