Mine kind of fade away, often because the other person fades away from the board. But sometimes they just kind of keep leaving me as the last one to respond, and yet they are still around. Not to mention that once, I had typed in the next entry in a hot scene, and I get a post the next day saying she belongs to someone else. But I do have some good Litships that have lasted

How do they end? It varies. Sometimes they're gone in the night, sometimes we circle the drain a few times first. Usually includes them leaving the boards.

Sometimes there are goodbyes, sometimes not.
Sometimes they return after a period of time, sometimes not.
Sometimes we re-engage, sometimes not.

Sometimes I was glad to see them go.


I have a couple of good friends who are faders, but that is more about their personalities and life circumstances than it is about our friendships. I put a boot up their arse now and then to encourage them to stay in touch and they usually do.

I was reminded of that lesson the other day: Don't risk more than you're willing to lose.

When I joined I was the sort to beat a dead horse to a bloody pulp just to be really sure it was over/they weren't interested.

I would love to say that my relationships fade away and everything is rosey. That would be an untruth.

I have had some that faded away due to their real life constraints.
I have had a few leave abruptly due to them breaking the rules or because I messed up.

One of the reasons I stay as private as I try to be is because when people leave, it hurts. I've been hurt a bunch and have unwittingly hurt others as well. It's something I am still learning to handle to be honest.

The one thing that should be remembered is that real life needs to be handled first. There's no one on Lit that can replace my real life. There are those I stay in contact with off Lit and those I am friends with off Lit. However, if stuff happens in real life, it has to be taken care of.

Usually things just fizzle or fade out, or we go separate ways. Worst case, I just stop interacting with them on the boards. Or vice-versa.
