Endless Curiosity

Happy Birthday you little fireball! 🎂🍻
I've got dinner covered for you, take the night off.
Not that you'll be able to sit after Trekka. Smiles.

As it’s looking like VT might be a little MIA today....

Birthdays. Some people enjoy a Lit celebration of their special day. Others are like a vault, seeing an announcement on the board as a violation of their privacy. Which type are you? And does it match your real-time view?

I like birthdays real time. I love Lakesailor's idea of throwing myself a party. No pressure on others but still fun to celebrate.

#shamlesstheftalert

Lit birthdays, I am far more low key. I do like to maintain a certain privacy level between real time and Lit. If the date's going to hit the board (and there are a couple of people who know) I prefer it to be like this with VT. Kept in one thread I frequent.

Private, not private. I get either. I do have one Litster friend who keeps me flummoxed. One year it's fine to announce, as long as it's kept in thread. Another year it is:

NEVER TO BE MENTIONED

Under pain of death.

Confusing, that one. :p

Obviously, I don't mind Lit birthdays. Ok, I love it. I'm a wallflower in general, but Lit is my place to shed the shy and mingle with the party crowd. A little spotlight time here is fun and I've been smiling all day because of you guys. :D

In real-time, I don't generally celebrate. The kids will probably bake me some sort of cake from a box, completely ignoring the measurements listed in the instructions so that it's either fudgy or cardboard. They'll give me homemade birthday cards drawn on notebook paper. It's low key. I don't like to be the center of attention.

EN, the scissors are not for the stripper. It's to take VT's clothing away from her thread by thread

You're going to cut the socks off the stripper?

#savestheexperience

I saw before you deleted. It was fine. No sexual act.

I think there was a little url in the corner though? White against the grey tones. Hard to see.

I dunno, I got one of my threads deleted where I posted literally nothing but links, along with a stern moderator PM about breaking "multiple" rules. For the life of me I couldn't think of one rule...so I just avoid visuals, even in link form.

Take off and nuke it from orbit. Only way to be sure.

.... I don't like to be the center of attention.

Sounds like someone needs to have her ass dragged to Vegas by her girlfriends and BE the center of attention for them and anyone else they pick up along the way! :D

(just to try it for once and cross it off her bucket list of course!)

Damn right, Liz...

Thats the spirit. Be a slut, get attention. What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas, just like the National Guard at summer camp.

Crikey! What have I missed so far today? VT's birthday? Multiple Wile E. Coyotes? EN getting progressively disapparelled with safety shears? :nana:

I stopped celebrating my birthdays after I decided to turn back the clock and regress to late teenage. Okay, so it hasn't worked physically. It's a mental thing, people! :D

Oh, and I mustn't forget to add, in a low key way...

Happy Birthday to VT! :rose: :rose: :rose:

 I ... uhh ... I think EN volunteered for the public nudity. Cleansing her sins and what not. You should start with her ...

Yes!!! I can be packed and ready to roll ... I mean, dragged away ... in an hour. :D

It is so difficult not to have my birthday announced. I have friends on here who track it every year. So I just roll with it. It's one time that I can't be as private as I'd like. But I appreciate the attention nevertheless.
In real life, it stays private. We celebrate at home and I deal with Facebook. But no one at either job knows usually.

*spanks VT a few times*

I want to go on record as saying that I am completely on board with dragging VT to Vegas. Yup.

Relationships. What is important? Most say personality and humor. Some say appearance. To toss financial considerations onto the list is considered shallow, like heading up your 'must haves' with big breasts.

Money is a requirement to life, however. Where do finances rank on your list?

Right up there near the top . . . .

She doesn't need to be rich or make a lot of money. But she should be sensible with the money we do have and not spend more than we have. My income varies greatly from year to year, so someone who can understand that and can be content and able to weather down years is important. I also like a partner who has an income of her own. It's not that I don't want to share, but I think it gives her a greater independence and freedom. I think that's important in a relationship.

Just above big tits. :p

OK, finances. What I think is important is that both people have similar overall goals in life. Finances are simply a tool for achieving these goals.

For example, I read something just today about a couple who got married. The guy had a "creative job" (e.g. low pay) and the woman had a good job. But what she wanted was to be a SAHM. This is fine, but he wanted to be in a DINK type situation (where she made more, so he could pursue his creative interests). The problem is not what either of them wanted, the problem is that they didn't have compatible goals.

I think also it's crucially important to recognize each other's contribution to the overall goals. I have seen too many couples where the SAHM is "devalued" because she "doesn't bring in any money." That's a terrible approach because it places income above all else. Money is not the goal. The goals are the things you want to do with that money (or whatever).

Fundamentally the most important thing is that their style of handling finance issues is similar and supports their overall goals.

I think the person's attitude about money is important. I like security. I like knowing there's something in savings for a rainy day. I work hard for my money so value is also important to me. I don't like to spend on things that are unnecessary and I will price check and bargain shop like nobody's business. I don't need a rich man. I need a man that knows the value of whatever money he's got. If he has known what it's like to struggle financially, even better. He'll appreciate security, too.

I'll answer these in reverse sequence.

Finances are important. Over the years I have seen many relationships fail (my first marriage and the relationships of many other couples) because of money issues. But I now know that having more money would not have fixed these failed relationships.

Which brings me to the first question, and the far more important point.

What is important is that the two people share common opinions about what is important. To have a successful relationship almost requires identical thoughts about everything from money, to sex, to family, to what is fun, to what is bad, to education, to politics, to ........

Poor people have very successful relationships if they have common views about how to prioritize spending. Wealthy people can have failed relationships if they do not agree on spending and saving. The difference of opinions about any topic that is an important part of life, and there are many such topics, can lead to problems in a relationship.

So find someone that shares your values.

High. Financial security is high on my list. I need to feel reasonably secure, safe.

That said, I’ve rarely, if ever, dated anyone who was financially stable initially. I’m more of a ‘potential’ kind of girl. We always end up in a better position than when we start. I rather like building together, and I am an excellent aider and abettor. :cattail:

This:

< I think also it's crucially important to recognize each other's contribution to the overall goals. >

Is so true. I am a sporadic earner. Sometimes I earn high, sometimes not at all. When my SO and I first got together I earned significantly more than he did. These days I can’t touch his earning potential. We’ve come to the point where I earn when, and if, I please. (I say earn instead of work because I always have several projects on. :p)

Our arrangement seems to flabbergast a lot of people, but it works. My SO is the first to say he wouldn’t be in the position he is, or able to maintain it as he does, without my support.

*shrug*

Different dynamics work for different temperaments and personalities. And I agree that similar values as far as financial considerations are a must. Those should be at the top of one's deal-breaker list.
