The first, and possibly only, time I've run across it was in Dorothy Sayer's books. Her character, Lord Peter Wimsey, piffled. Sort of...lot's of silly talk. Often rapid fire and nonsensical, or almost. What Collar and I do sometimes on the board.

Well, mostly Collar.
