Endless Curiosity

I can totally see where ladies like Tiamo and Sassy can get discouraged by some of the fakes on Am pics. I have been so sceptical of the new "HOTT" babe thread that's added. I come to am pics to have fun with a camera, some ideas and my body. Not some made up version of me. That's why I've cut down my posts to only the ladies that I know are truly showing their own beauty to us. Tiamo and Sassy you guys rock!! And for me being 50 and divorced is not the end of the world, so why lie about it.

As I have posted, you don't have show all of yourself, but what you do show should be the truest you

Damn right, you go boy!

What's really sad about the fakes on Am Pics is that Lit is an overwhelmingly supportive place for 'normal'-looking people of all ages, shapes and sizes to post and receive almost exclusively positive feedback. Whatever you've got, there is bound to be someone here who thinks it's sexy. One of the welcome (and unexpected) lessons I've learned here is that we all have a much broader appeal than most of us give ourselves credit for. Really too bad that the fakes are missing out on genuine praise and encouragement for their actual bodies.

I guess for me it depends on what that person is to me. If they are a friend, I don't like lies. I want to know the truth and know the real person. I don't want to be told that you are single, when you are not. I don't want to be told you are 30 when you are 50, I don't want to be given a fake picture because you looked better 20 years ago. For fucks sake, 20 years ago, I was a lot skinnier too! but if you are my friend, I want you to kow me for me. Not the skinnier, sexier sassy, cause what if we meet? I just met 2 more Lit friends and had I shown them a picture of me 20 years ago, they would have said "what the fuck" when I got off the plane.
Posting fake pictures in an AMpics thread just seems wrong. I say something about it, and I am automatically jealous. Why would I be jealous of fake pictures? I'll admit when I'm jealous, and that is not it. The guys defending it are pathetic to me. I'm glad she is nice, but normal, every day women go there to post pictures of themselves. That's what Amateur is. When they go there and see someone posting pics of a model/or from modeling days, that isn't amateur anymore.

I completely agree!
I have always made it a point to never post a fake picture of myself!

I tend to disappear for random periods of time when my personal life gets crazy. I try to leave a note before I go, but I often fail. So my question:

How long is too long for familiarity? If someone you frequently chat with disappears for a few days, or weeks, or months ... what do you expect from them once they return? Is a personal hello and apology enough? Do you expect an explanation?

I know it is the nature of this Lit Universe that people come and go. I also have taken a few breaks, usually just a few days, and on rare occasions I have left for longer periods of time.

And yes, I have wondered about others when they disappear. Depending upon their situation, I may be quite concerned about them. And when it is someone that I am "close" to, I feel hurt that they left without any notice.

But I never expect an apology. It would be nice to have an explanation, but I don't feel entitled to one. And when they return, I am happy for them, and in knowing that they are okay.

How long is too long? Depends upon the friend. Those that I chat with daily, I get concerned if they go dark for more than 3-4 days. Some people I know stay away for a few days at a time. With them I get concerned after a week.

Sometimes it's people I interact with less frequently that I worry about when they disappear, especially if it's someone you know has challenges of whatever kind in their real life. I find them crossing my thoughts, and wondering how they're doing. I haven't seen Jett around for a while, for example, and I hope he's fine, just busy.

The 'Litster you miss' thread can be good for that - sometimes someone who knows the missing one better or outside of Lit will confirm that they're at least OK, which is nice.

If someone is gone for a long time, I figure they had a good reason. If they return, I may or may not say hi, depending, and I may or may not hope they say hi, depending. What I think merits an explanation for someone is if they are around but stop saying hi first at least on occasion

Depends on a number of factors but in general, the more established a friendship is, the more leeway I give them. If an old friend disappears for weeks or even months, I usually have enough knowledge about their real lives to be able to guess the reason, and I know that they will very likely give me some sort of apology/explanation upon their return. These are relationships with people whom I consider worthy of my time and emotional energy, and I choose to be okay with the sporadic communication because they meet my needs in other areas.

In the context of a newer relationship, if they disappear while we are still building the foundation, then I figure there's a good chance that they've changed their mind and just didn't want to tell me, for whatever reason. I used to wait and fret for ages, but now I write them off after about a month, and try not to look back. I've only once had anyone come back after a month, wanting to pick up where we left off. I think he sincerely didn't realize that his absence mattered one way or the other.

For myself, I don't usually send out notifications before I go quiet, but I try always to respond to 'Are you okay?' messages from friends, if only to tell them, 'Not at the moment, but thank you for checking on me.'

I check on my MIA friends, too. Sometimes I hear 'You're blowing up my email!' but that's usually in response to an avalanche of dirty pictures. :D

Great question: Life changing or just an eye opener

Hi Everyone, as well as Thank You VT,
Would anyone like a cup of "What Ever You Desire"
This is a great question and having this warm and cozy coffee setting, listening to everyone's story as well as the amazing advice has allowed me to figure out my own relationship issues. My wife was not with the most intimate person and didn't want anything to do with sex?? Where before we were married we were at it all the time!! She never had a bad time and was always taken care of first and multiples at that. Here to find out finally to get her to open up she told me she was afraid to get pregnant and she didn't want children, it all made sense. We ended up divorcing after trying for a couple years. The more I tried to expand our sexual interest instead of begging lol, by suggesting places like Lit, the more resistance I got. But I've opened my eyes and if your SO doesn't want to grow with you then is the time we decide to make a choice to stay or to go. But everyone should try there best to be open n honest n talk to there SO before their choice. I Love and thank all of you wonderful people here in our comfy cozy coffee spot. Steve (aka, Sludgepuppy )

I worry about people when they don't show up here for a while. I am not one to measure or mark time, so I am more apt to miss someone when they aren't jumping in to a conversation as opposed to consciously thinking.. Hmmm. X hasn't been on now for 2 weeks, I wonder what's up?

I don't have any expectations of people here. If they return and we pick right back up, that's great. If either one of us has moved on in some way and it turns out we aren't as readily compatible upon their return, it happens :(

Either way, I certainly don't expect an apology. If they have been gone its most likely due to some issues on their end IRL. No need to come here and apologize for that, not to me. Neither do I expect an explanation. I don't tend to share every personal detail here, so why expect it from others? If they want to talk about it I'm all cyber ears. But if they are here for escape I'm not going to hound them for details. The few people I feel close to have shared phone numbers and email addresses with me, so I can check up on them if I feel the need.

ALL THAT SAID... I did have one person that was close to me suddenly disappear. A miserable 48 or so hours later I found out they were rushed to the hospital, confirming my suspicions. I'm not going to request an apology when a person returns from such a thing, but had they not given an explanation it probably would have altered my trust in them, and ultimately driven me away.

So true VT and so hard to see them have moved to someone else, just hold your head high cause you are an Awesome Woman and anyone should be honored to have you as their SO and if not then they don't deserve you. You deserve the very Best and all the Happiness you can find. You are definetly a Keeper. Love ya big much. Steve xo

WITHOUT discussing your personal political persuasion, please discuss the following:

Due to the heated nature of this year's elections, have you lost any friends? No longer talk to a family member? Unfriended someone on FB? How do you feel about that?

Well this is totally unrelated to the political scenario you have in mind, but I was very disappointed to hear how a family member voted in the Brexit referendum. I don't think I let it affect our relationship, but I did express my unhappiness, and the reasons for it.

A qualified no.

There's only a few of my friends with whom I'll discuss politics. Those individuals are able to engage in rational, dispassionate conversations, which means we can, if necessary, agree to disagree, without taking said disagreements personally.

There was an acquaintance who wanted to get into a political discussion, but that person was an uninformed twit who couldn't name either of the state's Senators, her Congressional Representative, the Governor, the Lt. Governor or even the city's mayor.
She's no longer an acquaintance. No real loss.

Your election doesn't apply to me, but post-Brexit-referendum here in my country there is one extended family member I find it very, very difficult to be around, and another with whom things were ... awkward for a little while. In both cases I think the problem is in what it revealed to me about them that I didn't previously know and find hard to cope with.

I'm not arrogant enough not to realise that they might feel exactly the same about me, of course. It's definitely changed things though. Definitely.

I had to say goodbye to a very long time friend from here on Facebook after she started reposting memes posted by an extreme right wing organisation in the UK in support of her republican sympathies...

.. someone I'd known a long time appears to have decided she no longer wished to have contact with me when I wouldn't allow her to bully me into telling her which way I had voted in the Brexit referendum...it led her to assume that I was a leaver, opposite to her views...I still refuse to discuss how I exercised my right to vote but the flouncing and attacks that have come from so called friends have meant that I am able to consolidate my relationships with some people with little regret...

I worked for a long while in Nottinghamshire and have family in Yorkshire where the deep political and personal rifts in local communities and families driven by the opposing sides of the miners strike still rankle today more than 30 years later and led to actual murder...

I'll leave my political leanings up to your imagination, but it wouldn't take a great deal of speculation to figure it out. *Quietly holsters her Glock*

But, I tend to have friends like those that Sb1 mention. If you can't agree to disagree , then we dont need to talk. I don't think ive actually lost a friend over politics, but I've identified some left and right wing cuckoos from among several acquaintances...
*Shrugs* it is what it is and I don't try to convince you either way.

I've been... disappointed by some friends and family members during this election cycle. People who I thought were sane, reasonable people are gleefully jumping on the crazy train. And I've blocked a lot of people on FB because I can't take all of the political memes - from either side.

*nods* This. I don't care how you vote or what you believe, just keep it to yourself and off my feed. I actually had to delete my FB a while back because of this sort of thing. I just now got back on and had to put a stop to it again, early.

Naw.

But my state isn't very...politically diverse?

Might be fun to meet a live Trump supporter though.

I have learned very quickly not to discuss politics and religion with friends and family. I avoid Facebook, so no issues there.

There's just one person who I can discuss these hot topics with rationally and I learn so much from him, and sometimes he from me. I try a tiny bit with other close friends, but when they start ranting, it's best to just hear them out and nod my nod and quickly move to the next subject.
