Ever Decreasing AH...

I'm still holding at 220. I'm also still afraid that I'm mostly losing muscle instead of fat. I need to get rid of these colds (I have two right now, a chest cold and a head cold) so that I can exercise again.

:rose: to wish you feel better. Makes it hard to be motivated at all, I know! Drink plenty of fluids! When you feel better, just get moving as much as you can and you shouldn't really lose muscle. Hang in there!

Way to go! Any tips or secrets to share?

Lose suagr, dairy and wheat, have a supportive partner who quits them all with you and have a lot of excess weight to start with, cos then it just drops off ;)

:D

oh- and njever let yourself get hungry, cos then you just want 'bad' foods...

TheeGoatPig... when I've got a cold or don't feel good, I like to do a basic yoga routine that helps me stretch out and energizes me without wearing me out. Also, aroma therapy can help ease your breathing issues and help keep you going. (I hate being sick).

I know a tendon strengthening excercise that is used in Yoga, Tai Chi, and other diciplinse as well. Yi Gung Jin (guessing on the spelling). I should do it more often anyway, but I find myself lacking in motivation when I'm not out among other people also working out.

I haven't heard of that one. MMM. Sounds interesting. I'll have to look it up. You must be a people motivated person; that can make it difficult to exercise unless you have a regular group. I'm motivated by 'music'.

So as of friday, I am going back to basics on my post surgery diet to try and re-kick start the loss. All liquids for two weeks. Protein shakes, *shudder*jello *shudder* and water. I need support.

Disclaimer: for normal people, this is not a good diet. Please consult your doctor. For me, this is a recommended thing (per my surgeon) to re start loss.

I've been running regularly since 1963 (no, that is not a misprint) and I'm living testimony that the body eventually becomes immune to excercise -- it will put on weight no matter what. But a few weeks ago my wife went on a low carb diet, and I joined her, more because it didn't make sense to try to cook differently for two people. I really had no hope of losing weight, but I've dropped about seven pounds. I always thought Atkins was a complete quack, but the low carb diet actually seems to work.

It does work, but make sure it's *low* carb, not *no* carb, unless you're being supervised by a doctor...
Well done on the 7lbs though and good luck with the rest...

Chin up Dar, you can do this and think how good you'll feel when you start finding your clothes loose...

Keep going everyone :D

It's 12 exercises combined to be repeated throughout the day. The problem that I forgot to mention, is that I only know the upper body exercises. I haven't learned the lower body exercises.

All of the leg exercises that I know are very arobic in nature (lots of kicking), and require the full use of my lungs to perform them.

I should be stretching every night, but again, I'm not properly motivated :(

TheeGoatPig, where did you learn it? I've got a Tai Chi kickboxing tape and I can't get through 10 minutes without stopping to catch my breath. The instructor is in incredible shape... I'm just in awe watching him. I'm not sure if he motivates me to work-out or just watch him work-out (smile).

I got it from my kung fu sifu (who is also a top Tai Chi master). I don't know where he got it from. Our school has had a lot of true masters pass through its doors.

motivation

Thanks for the info TheeGoatPig.

I'd like to know what different things help motivate people on those days when working-out and eating right look like self-torture and deprivation. Maybe we can help motivate each other to stay positive and be active.

Yay, lost 700gms - it more than makes up for the 500gms I put on last week! Winter is well and truly here down under, time for soups and casseroles - just the low fat type! Now if only I could get to exercising...

*sighs* can we just chnge it for me to say ever increasing AH? I really went manic this week. Mostly do to boredom. Need to fill the time so I dont want to eat so much and clear all the crap stuff out of the shelves so there is no temptation. so now i'm 2 pounds back up on the 4 i lost...ah well still have the 2 pounds.

Make sure you have healthy options to snack on. Fruit, rice crackers, vege soup, healthy muffins etc. My downfall is sweet stuff, so I always make sure I have something for the sugar craving. (I've just finished eating banana pancakes with a drizzle of golden syrup - yum!)

I'm sorry to hear that :(

I'm still hovering at 220. I think I'm going back to kung fu classes tonight, for the first time in over a month of being sick (I'm still congested, but the cough doesn't appear to be there anymore).

My legs are going to be dead tired tonight

Chantilyvamp, I did what you suggest and cleared out the 'worst' of the temptations in my pantry/fridge. But, once a week I treat myself to whatever I've been craving (assuming I've been good). So, I have that treat to look forward to and motivate me to stay on course. Each day is a new day!

woo bloody hoo!

I have been *totally* off the wagon for nearly a month now, eating rubbish and not exercising - but guess what? No weight regain!!
I am 78.8 kg, or 173.7lbs so that is a weight loss of... um... <calculates> 5.6kg or 12.3 lbs overall! Yay!

Now to start again and lose another 12 lbs... and then maybe another 12 after that :)

It'll start getting harder to get it off now, though... oh well. Wedding next year wedding next year wedding next year <--- my mantra ;)

How are you all doing?
I think a high protein breakfast is the key to my success. I kept that up even when the rest of my diet went to hell.

I've lost about ten pounds this time around, lol. But, I'm not paying a whole lot of attention to my weight, just trying to get healthy.

Not eating tons of empty carbs seems to be helping. Imagine that? My goal is to just keep from getting too hungry. When I'm starving, I tend to make eating choices like a goat. Being in control of what I eat is pretty nice for a change, instead of the other way around.

I had been slacking on working out and only walking about every other night, but I'm trying to get back in the habit of doing some exercises and walking every day. Today, I did the most difficult yoga workout I've done in ages, and ouch...I'm feeling it.

7 lbs (half a stone) lost.

28 lbs (2 stone) to be lost before I can have gall bladder surgery.

Another 2 stone on top of that is my target. *sigh*. Will it ever happen?? Who knows.

7 lbs is still very impressive Mat.

<thinks guiltily of the curry and ice cream she's just eaten>

Time to get back on the wagon methinks...

It's just so much harder when it's cold...

I managed to drop 2 pounds so thats good for me....I'm exercising more ( well only allowed leg stuff and walking right now) and we had started doing childrens yoga. Hopefully in a few days I'll be able to at least do the light stretching for that.

For those of us all trying to lose a little weight come here to share your triumphs and tribulations.

Red can be the poster girl :D

I've lost just over a kilo this last week which, I am reliably informed, is about 3lbs. So I'm a very happy Vermilion :)
I miss toast though... and pasta. agh.

I'm trying to put on weight, but you might try Barrilla plus pasta if you can find it, it's high protein stuff, and very tasty.

And yeah, a high protein breakfast seems to kick your metabolism up a notch.

Oh crap, my PhysEd class is already kicking my ass on the second day, not to mention all the walking since my classes are all in different buildings, and the huge heavy backpack. Upside - no time to snack or eat junk.

Crap. Coming out of winter and I'm 3kg heavier than going in.
69kg. I wanna be 57kg.
I remember when I was 50kg but that aint never gonna happen again - I've got tits since then - lots of 'em!!
