Lyssania heard his words, but her eyes didn't open until he began running through the list of reasons why she might be afraid of him. The prideful look in her glaring eyes didn't waver until he brought to light the fact that she was afraid she'd liked what he'd done to her. Instead of faltering, however, the glare only hardened... which might have made it plain as day that that was, in fact, exactly why she feared him.
She lifted her chin just a notch, unwilling to admit it, not even to herself. Every time the thought came to mind that she had enjoyed what he'd done to her... the way he'd played her body like an instrument... she shoved the thought away and refused to consider it.
Her eyes turned away from him as he began to lavish his compliments on her again, trying to tune him out... not to listen... but then his tone changed from something tender and wanting to concern, and she had to look at him. He was kneeling near her foot, reaching out, and she pulled it back quickly, her knees bending and pulling up toward her chest, taking her foot out of his reach.
"It will heal," she said, and her voice held an edge to it that had nothing to do with fear... She'd shown him too much weakness already, now here he was seeing a wound that should have healed by now... but hadn't because her body had been denied what it needed. But it would heal, with more time and rest... it would heal and wouldn't even so much as leave a scar.
