Fall of an Empire

Krista

Krista lay awake for hours, staring into the darkness and listing to the sounds eminating from the tavern down stairs. She thought a lot about the possible remifications of them finding the book, and she doubted any good could come of it. She sighed heavily, rolling over and trying to relax. Eventually she gave up, rising from her bed, dressing and heading back down to the bar. Perhaps a few drinks will help her sleep a little easier.

Lokken had choked on the ale he was drinking when he heard Drusilla. He instantly recognized her. But he kept it to himself. He also wished to go, but he would tell them later. He conjured a few things, then waited until Drusilla was in her room. He then stood up, and donned his helm. He opened the door, and closed it behind him. "Drusilla, please wake up", he begged, getting onto his knees by the side of the bed. He took off his helm. She rolled over and woke up, staring at him. She then sat up and stared at him strangely, as if trying to remember him from somewhere. "Oh, Drusilla", he sighed. "Let me help", he said. He leaned in and kissed her on the mouth, ever so gently, just like he used to.

The night and the morning...

For a few hours Folknar had managed to sleep, but he eventually woke up and couldn't fall back a asleep. About then he heard another door open and close and foot steps headed to the stair well. He wondered who it was so he got up, put on a clean shirt and a cover on his stump. Walking out the door he followed the steps down to the tavern.

There he saw Krista sitting at a table nursing a cup of wine. Walking over to the bar he got a mug of watered down mead and sat at her table. Startled she looked up at him then buried her face in her mug. Smiling disarmingly Folknar sipped some mead then set the mug down. "Couldn't sleep either Lady? Neither could I, theres something about the night or two before a major voyage that makes me edgy and excited at the same time. You?" Looking at him from the corner of her eye she made a non committal sound. "I know, I know, you still don't trust me, and the fact that the object we seek has so many stories regarding it that any half educated person wonders after my intentions. Is that it? Well, I guess you have every right to worry. I wish there was something I could do to calm your fears about it. I just wish I knew what it was.." he said and taking a sip from his mug he sat for a minute staring at the swirls in the mead. Then looking up he said "For so many years I've sought a way to return my family to prominence in this world instead of relying on the charity of others. And so far all it's gotten me is a missing hand, a curse on my blood line, and the knowledge that I will die in near future. That perhaps is the worst thing to know, your own death will come soon no matter what you do. I just wish once that something in my life would go right for me, instead of just surviving and being one step ahead of death. It wears you down after a while..." With that he took another sip and stared out the window as the rosy glow of dawn started to come over the horizon.

Bolbar rolled out of bed with a groan. He'd thought that a fancy bed like this would be the height of luxury, but hadn't realized that a bed could be too soft. He walked to the window, working the kinks out of his back. Red dawn, he thought with a sniff. Gonna be rainy day.

Krista

Looking across teh table at folkner, Krista concidered him for a moment, then reached out and squeezed his arm lightly, bringing his attetntion back to her.

"You are very perceptive my Lord. Yes, i have my concernes about your intentions for the book, and knowlage it is said to contain. I have never been one to trust easily, but i shall trust you untill such times as you prove you can't be trusted. If it is your families honor you seek to restore, then i can see merit in that, I too, have a certain honor of my own to restore. It's going to be i miserable day by the looks of that sky, shall we trade in this mead for a bowl of hot oats?" The smell of breakfast being prepared was coming from teh kitchen, and a good breakfast was the best way to start a day.

She gave folkner a soft smile, and squeezed his arm again. In a way, she understood him a little better, but time would tell if they were to become friends.

Smiling at Krista he stood and offered his arm to her to escort her to breakfast in the other room. After sitting down and ordering he got out the bad of money for supplies and gave her the share she and Randel would be using. "I hope the others come down in the next day or so" said Folknar as he chuckled at seeing Bolbar come groggily down the stairs.

As soon as he heard the sounds of the birds chirping outside his window Randel's eyes slowly opened and he looked around the room. All his gear was there which was a good sign and as soon as he got up off his bed he yawned and stretched then grabbed some clean clothing. As soon as he was dressed he walked to his door and opened it then walked to the stairs and down them just to see Folknar and Krista sitting at a table talking.

Looking up at Randel who just came down the stairs Folknar motioned him over and asked the waitress for some breakfast for him. "Randel, Krista's got the money for you guys so you can leave when you like. Heres the thing though, I'll be getting the weapons for the group, so I'll need a list of things you guys would like to have, and I'll see what my friend from the local army detachment can't scare up for me. Plus I know a local dwarf who does custom work so I might some things there too. And as you see the group let them know to tell me what they want. Anyway, please have some of this excellent porridge, hard bread and torched bacon."

Drusilla awoke with a start and came face to face with Lokken. Frowning she felt no threat from him just an overwhelming sense of familiarity. Then he leaned forward and kissed her, she let out a small gasp frozen for a moment as memories assailed her then she leaned into him kissing him back feeling tears form in her eyes.

Randel looked at Folknar and tried to think of what he would need and it was then that he remembered his daggers. He had lost them fighting a group of orcs and he needed some replacements. He sat back and looked at Folknar and said, "Well seeming as you are getting the weapons then all I really need is two daggers, my last ones with lost in a fight with some orcs. I really loved those daggers so that's probably all that I need."

I get out of bed after a fitful night of dreams and nightmares.Walking down the stairs i wave to the group as i sit down to eat.

ooc:Sorry i haven't posted for a long time.Girlfriend problems.

ooc: Don't worry, we all have problems with our significant others once in a while. I know I do.

Nodding as Randel described the daggers, Folknar noticed Silverwolf and waved him over. "Anything else besides the Dagger's Randel? Do you want them poisoned or anything, I've got a friend locally who could help out with that. Oh Silverwolf, Is there any weapons your looking for you might not have or want? I'll be getting those today and I want to make sure I get everyone something they need or want." After talking he took a sip of tea with some honey in it, and waited to see what their reply was.

"Drusilla, my love. Maybe we should go down and join the others", offered Lokken, putting a hand around her, and standing up. His hand moving to the top of her shoulder. "Ah Drusilla, so much has changed since we met so long ago. I am truly thankful that I was sent here", sighed Lokken, waiting for her reply. "But, my quest is still here. I must still svae this world from collapse", he said. "I would love it if you would join me", he added.

Drusilla tried hard to find her voice as she stared at Lokken. Finally finding her voice "Lokken? Yes we should join them but first I wish to know what you have been doing these long years past? I missed you. What must you save the world from? What about this other quest?" Her mind was filled with questions and chaotic emotions as she tried to sort out her feelings.

Krista

OOC: Sorry guys, i have had a few relationship troubles too, nothing like getting told your not the only one, to shak up your day. I should be posting more now though.

Krista thought for a momant, finishing off her breakfast,

"I have my own weapons, but thak you for the offer. Randel, when you are finished breaking your fast, we shall be about our buisness."

Bolbar

Bolbar looked up from his second bowl of porridge. "Folknar, do we need more horses, or just to ride?" he asked. "I ready to get them. You have money to buy them?"

Looking at Bolbar, Folknar counted out coins for him. "I think we'll about 7 mounts, five for riding the others for supplies. Here's about 40 gold pieces for the animals." as he slid the bag over to Bolbar and Silverwolf. Turning to Krista he slid another bag across "That should hold about 20 pieces of gold for you guys to pick up your stuff, if you need more money come see me at Steel-Helms Fine Weapons just down the street. Take care all of you, and I'll see you for dinner tonight." With that he stood up, handed a small bag of gold to the Inn Keeper to give to Lokken and Drusilla for purchasing supplies and walked out the door heading for the weapons shops.

Randel looked at Krista with a smile and was about to ask her where they were going to go but it was then that he remembered something and ran from the table up the stairs. As soon as he entered his room he looked around it until he saw what he was looking for, his sword. He knew that he probably wouldn't need it but as soon as he picked it up he felt more at ease. As soon as he strapped it to his back he smiled then turned and walked out of the room, the smile still on his face.

"i will need a good sword, light but strong. If that wouldn't be a problem i would be appreciated."I said with a gleam in my eye.Me and bolbar leave to get the horses and to pick up my sword

"As you wish. I have become Emperor of Taros and rosen through the ranks of legends. I have not only saved my own world many times but also others. My god has given me many quests to other dimensions, and I do his bidding. As for what plagues this world, I do not know yet. My only other quest is to be with you", Lokken answered, kissing her once again. He opened the door and they descended. "I have decided that I will join you", stated Lokken.

Drusilla was still slightly in shock. Her heart jumped at his sight and she couldn't seem to take her eyes off it. She had missed him so much. Her dreams had always been filled with him and more then often she would wake up crying out for him. Now that she was hear she didn't know whether to laugh or cry. Standing up she quickly dressed and followed him down to meet the others. She was very glad he was coming but what happened when the quest was over, would he leave again? Leave her once more in her sorrow ... only time would tell.

Lokken quickly turned to Drusilla. "My love. When I am done here, I wish to take you with me. Back to my homeland. So we can be together for eternity", he whispered quietly, before turning back to the others.

Drusilla's eyes widened at Lokkens words. He wished to take her with him. Joy swelled within her and she longed to hug him and share her joy but instead she quietly watched him as he spoke to the others. She was used to masking her feeling she had done it ever since all those years ago when he left her. She had forced those memorie deep into the back of her mind and managed to keep them there. Now that he was once again with her those memories no longer mattered, all that mattered was that she was once again with her love.

At the Weaponsmith's

Walking in the door of the small warehouse were Steelhelm kept his forge, Folknar breathed deeply of the smells of hot iron, sweat, steam and oiled leather. Walking over to a rack on which various weapons were hung he began to take them down one at a time and test their balance and heft. After a short while an apprentice came over and inquired what he wanted. Turning to the boy he replied "I'd like to see Steelhelm myself if you don't mind boy, and if he asks who it is, say it is an old freind from the hills." After that the boy left and told Steelhelm, who rushed out to greet Folknar.

After exchanging pleasantries they got down to business. "You only come to see me when you want things made Folknar, what is it you seek this time from my forge?" asked Steelhelm. "I seek a brace of daggers ranging from a half-hand to a full hand and a half length, weighted for throwing. I need a 6 hand sword, strong but thin blade made for a fencer more than a hacker, a pair of throwing axes for myself length 2 hands, blades a hand and the throwing spikes a half hand. Most importantly I've come to pick up the new things I had you make for me a while ago." was his reply. "Now you know to make the other things I need the people to come so I can mold the grips to their hands. So make sure you send them down, and the things you requested are in my private storage area, come with me." said Steelhelm as they walked off...

Bolbar

The sound of hammering greeted Bolbar and Silverwolf as they left the stables. They watched across the street for a moment as repairs were begun to the tavern's wall and front door. Bolbar snickered, "Huh, take'em longer to fix up inside than outside. No bother, we not going back there, right Silverwolf?"

As they started towards the weaponsmith, Bolbar counted on his fingers. "That enough horses for everyone who need'em, and some for extra. You got pretty good price, you should sell used horses! Huh huh!" Bolbar's laugh was more like a snorting grunt, but for all that he was in great spirits. A mission, at last! he thought. "Hey, maybe you sell horses back at end, get more money than you pay! Huh huh!" He looked down at the other, who had stopped at a heavy door. Overhead swung a wooden sign that bore the symbol of an armored helmet.
