There's been 137 reported murders since then, and we won't solve them either.

Never saw the movie, but I like the line. Perfect ending for a horror movie.
"John Spartan, you are fined one credit for violation of the verbal morality statutes."

The Uncanny
Wallace (segment "London 1912"): [as Wallace is leaving, commenting on the large number of cats watching him] Don't envy your job.
Janet (segment "London 1912"): We have a mutual understanding. I scratch their backs, and they don't scratch mine.
The ruins of the church in that movie were built by the movie studio and taken down later. It was clearly visible from the 2 train during filming. At that time something like 90% of the population of that neighborhood was gone. Now it is completely filled in with new and some renovated buildings. It wasn't a slum; it was just empty. As long as we are in the 80s, 1981's Wolfen.
Dewey Wilson: [Ending voiceover] In arrogance, man knows nothing of what exists. There exists on this earth such as we dare not imagine; life as certain as our death, life that will prey on us as surely as we prey on this earth.

(The church was on Seabury Place.)
The suburban house idea was not repeated and apartment buildings were built in later phases.

I saw the filming of the scene where Warren was killed in the car on Wall Street. It took two nights in February, 1980. On the first night, the crew had real wolves available, but I missed that. On the second night, the crowd waited about four hours to watch the car blow up. They didn't want any retakes on that scene. It wasn't empty, there were wolfen there.

So how come the wolfen didn't object when they starting losing their hunting grounds starting in 1989, but they didn't want even one development in 1981? I know, it's allegorical and I'm so literal-minded that I'm missing the point. That's just how I am.It wasn't empty, there were wolfen there.

The wolften wanted certain concessions from Orion Pictures, and the studio decided against that. They thus figured that wolves looked identical and they would have to make do with that. Besides, wolves are easier to handle. But Wolves ain't Wolfen, why didn't the get the real critters? Just jacking with you, Jack.
Another great opening line from a great movie. Eve's Bayou (1997)
"Memory is a selection of images, some elusive, others imprinted indelibly on the brain. The summer I killed my father, I was ten years old."
The Ten Commandments, 1956
Moses: Let my people go!
Rameses: Only if your god is God and will give me my hair back!
