"He does have a small penis." Julia Sawalha in Bottom, episode "Parade"

Okay, not a 'great line' exactly, but one which apparently written exactly and specifically for me and which I was unaware of until earlier today. Rik (RIP) and Ade doing the Lord's work there...
Bottom was hilarious. Womble hunting on Wimbledon Common, for a start. Or the time they actually get some girls to go home with them. "And it would have worked too, if you hadn't turned off the lights and shouted, 'Grab this, it's the bannister!'"

"What we do in life echoes in eternity."

I thought of this because I just saw Gladiator 2. It's nowhere near as good as the original, but it's enjoyable if you adjust your expectations and look forward to a fun ride as opposed to a great film.

Russell Crowe in the original as Maximus was one of the greatest movie heroes ever, IMO.

Agree but the Rhino was pretty bad ass...

This is one of my favorites, although it's more of a short scene than a simple line (but the line at the end steals the show)

Pest is a British teenage boy being threatened by a drug dealer after his group of friends wrecked a police van into the dealer's car in an underground tunnel while fleeing from something...

Pest: "I'm not even lying. If we was making it up, don't you think we'd make up something a bit better than aliens?"

Hi-Hatz: *pointing his gun* "Say that word, one more time!"

*Unearthly screams in the background*

Pest:
"I told you, bruv! On the roof, if you don't believe me!"

Hi-Hatz: "What? What's on the roof?"

Pest: "One of them..."

Hi-Hatz: *Moves gun closer* "Say it!"

Pest: "One of them... BIG GORILLA WOLF MOTHAFUCKAS!"

Oh yeah, and the film is Attack The Block

A single quote can't possibly do this scene from Attack the Block justice, so you can watch the scene here... or better yet, go watch the whole movie. It's fantastic.

"One of them... One of them.... big gorilla wolf mother fuckers!"
↑Ha! I forgot that I shared this line months ago.

Just goes to show how memorable that scene is, even if the rest of my memories are dim 😜

Kitty Oppenheimer: The truly vindictive are patient as saints.

"All battles are fought by scared men who'd rather be some place else." - John Wayne, In Harm's Way

Probably the most accurate thing said in any movie.
Noteworthy, because usually they show up every time anyway. Sometimes a war will be quick if one side overwhelms the other. (Our country had some good luck, as I guess you'd call it, in such things as the Spanish-American War and the First Gulf War). But if the conflict gains momentum - that's when things get really nasty.

In our own Civil War, both sides went at each other so tenaciously that even European observers, who knew a lot about war, were shocked by how intense it was.

There is nothing as vicious as a civil war. The only one fought with a modicum of civility was the American Revolution. The Russian civil war of 1918 - 1921 was a blood thirsty frenzy that chewed up 8 million lives. The Chinese civil war of 1927 - 1949 cost nearly as many lives.

Godfather Part II has some great dialogue:

Hyman Roth (Lee Strasberg) to Michael: "So when he turned up dead, I let it go. And I said to myself, this is the business we've chosen; I didn't ask who gave the order, because it had nothing to do with business!" Great acting, because Roth is obviously angry even though his words say the opposite. Micheal stays very calm and cool. In both movies, the only times he seems to truly lose his temper are with Kay Adams.

You'll regret that weak choice... maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow... but soon... and for the rest of your life...

"I shall never forget the weekend Laura died. A silver sun burned through the sky like a huge magnifying glass. It was the hottest Sunday in my recollection. I felt as if I were the only human being left in New York. For Laura's horrible death, I was alone. I, Waldo Lydecker, was the only one who really knew her. And I had just begun to write Laura's story when - another of those detectives came to see me..."
Laura (1944)

Most of the dialogue in "The Maltese Falcon" is right out of Dashiell Hammett's story. I think the screenwriters added this one, paraphrasing a Shakespeare quote ("we are such stuff as dreams are made of..."). It's one of the greatest closing lines in movie history:

"Mr Madison, what you have said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response did you approach anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber from having heard it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul." - The high school principal to Billy Madison (Adam Sandler) in the 1995 comedy 'Billy Madison'

England is under threat of invasion, and though we be on the far side of the world, this ship is our home. This ship, is England. So it's every hand to his rope or gun, quick's the word and sharp's the action. After all... surprise is on our side.

"Senator? You can have my answer now, if you like. My final offer is this: nothing. Not even the fee for the gaming license, which I would appreciate if you would put up personally."

Geary didn't know anything about New York mobsters and he didn't do his due diligence to find out.

It’s not what you did, son, that angers me so. It’s who you did it to.

"John wasn't exactly the boogeyman. He was the one you sent to kill the fucking boogeyman."

Best line in that movie: "Oh." When Aurelio tells Viggo on the phone what his son did to John Wick and Viggo realizes what's coming.
