Anyone here played Spec Ops: The Line? It's a third person shooter with heavy psychological themes inspired partly by Heart of Darkness / Apocalypse Now, where player is in charge of a Delta Force team looking for a US Army Colonel and his troops in a post-disaster Dubai, where you start out thinking the mission is a morally correct and a simple rescue. At the very beginning the player's character says to his squad, "Gentlemen, welcome to Dubai."
The game play is fun and you're taking out bad guys who are actively shooting at you, and the loading screens between missions display quotes such as "To kill for yourself is murder. To Kill for your government is heroic. To kill for entertainment is harmless." and "Do you feel like a hero yet?"
But soon you're having to make ethically questionable decisions and you fight the soldiers you were sent to rescue, and civilians are increasingly caught in the cross fire. As the game proceeds the loading screens increasingly contain statements like, "Cognitive dissonance is an uncomfortable feeling caused by holding two conflicting ideas simultaneously." "If you were a better person, you wouldn't be here." "There is no escape."
If you make certain decisions, at the end your own army comes to arrest your crazy delusional murderous character. And if you choose to resist them and succeed in taking out their unit, your character taunts the troops over the radio with the words he spoke to his now dead squad at the beginning: "Gentlemen, welcome to Dubai."
On another note, the Red Dead Redemption series has many memorable moments and quotes, but one of the most entertaining parts of Red Dead Redemption 2 is hanging out and interacting with your Van der Linde gang-mates, like sitting around the camp fire singing dirty songs. Like this one...
When I was just a lad, you know
I met a gal from ole' Bordeaux
She had blonde hair, and blue eyes too
She let me ride on the ring dang doo
The ring dang doo, now what is that?
It's soft and round, like a pussycat
Got a hole in the middle, and it's split in two
And that's what ya call the ring dang doo
