"Fifty Shades of Grey"

I'm thinking that the women who have bought the book don't know how to articulate "It got me off."

Thats not been a part of the female lexicon-- yet. They translate that as "Wow, what a good book!"

I think one of the worst things I've heard involving this book wasn't so much about the book itself, but very telling of a lot of the people reading it.

I was at a family function a coupel months back and my wife's cousin brings up shades. I asked what she thought of it and her response was (paraphrasing of course)

"I teach English so the writing is almost painful, its really hard to push through it. Ana is not cute or endearing, she's pathetic and Gray is an arrogant asshole, I can;t stand either one of them."

She then followed it up by saying she was getting ready to start the second book. So I asked if she totally hated everything about it why is she wasting time?

The answer was

"Well, everyone I know is talking about it, so I want to be able to discuss it as well."

Seriously at this point this is becoming the bulk of this books sales, "herd" mentality.

It doesn't matter that the book no longer even has a 4 rating on amazon, it doesn't matter that review after review is slamming it. Doesn't matter if people you know say it stunk, people are buying it because everyone else is.

First of all, I haven't read the book, but this made me laugh. Your wife's cousin is the same as I am with movies. Even if a movie is awful, I have to finish it. My son, on the otherhand, can just stop watching and not give it another thought. I saw an interview with a couple (I think it was Ozzy and Sharron) who were the same, one had to finish the movie even if it was bad and the other could just drop it. They both thought the other was crazy.
I bet that's the reason for the book two sales.

Emma Watson has been cast to play the lead in the upcoming movie.

Harmonie Granger is looking for a basilisk's fang to stab herself.

I've been hearing a lot of interest in James Deen playing the guy.

Hermione isnt drawing a paycheck any longer. She doesn't get to tell Emma what to do.

I guess it's fun for all ages. My 96 year-old great grandmother came to visit for Thanksgiving. She read "50 Shades of Grey" on the train ride over and talked about it all weekend, much to the chagrin of my more prudish relations. It was hilariously awesome!

This gives me faith, faith that I can write a bestselling pseudo-BDSM fan fiction piece, too.
