Firefly/Serenity Revisited. OOC Thread/Casting Call.

Maybe just the fact that they warn him to stay away makes him all the more interested? Curiosity then overcomes any monetary interest. Obviously they weren't opposed to letting Jayne contact them and say he had her, just that once they did, THEN they sent their own people after her. Hell, we never even got confirmation that the Hands of Blue men were alliance.

Hello Kids,

Just leave the delightful, interesting thinking, rationalizations, etc of our Dear Alliance Captain (to be named) to me. I'm sure Velvet has faith in my ability to have a character's perceptions fit their needs rather than reality :D

Though there have been some nice ideas floated. A fair few of them I am sure I can put into play >:)

Could the writer of Saffron drop me a PM at some stage so we can plot and scheme some fun stuff for folks :)

cheers everyone

No but whoever they were, they had the full protection of the Alliance.

Or the Alliance had protection from them (obviously not full, as seen in Ariel). The few times we've seen them. They usually come off as the "superiors."

They do seem to be something of an elite group...no...not elite so much as outside the normal government/military structure.

So, any ideas of when this thread will kick off? looks directly at VelvetDarkness, smiling sweetly

Oh, LilyBean and I have been bouncing ideas off each other concerning Saffron and the Alliance Captain. Me thinks that we may have something workable on the drawing table. We're still hashing out the idea(s), so more news as it comes to hand.

goes back to plotting some more mayhem...

I see them as equivalents of Operatives, but for the Organization that works on those like River. They have the means to do what is needed, including terminating those that have made contact with River.

Just my thoughts :)

I've never read any of the comics or anything, but I know the Blue Sun corporation was going to play a big part in the series. Some sort of super corporation like a combination of Microsoft and Coca-Cola and basically whatever you could think of. And apparently they held like a hidden control over the government, or something along those lines. There are a couple, though not many, references to it in the series. One important one being that when River slices Jayne with the knife, she cuts specifically over the Blue Sun logo on his shirt. So this implies that they maybe had something to do with her abduction, and in all likelihood, employ the Hands of Blue men.

Also, if anyone feels like doing any kind of pre-planning with Simon, you're free to message or IM me or whatever.

Here's the map we'll be using, just to get an idea of how the 'verse is laid out.

Some info lifted from wiki...

Persephone

Persephone is a civilized planet with heavily stratified societal structure. The planet orbits the protostar Lux which is the last planet in the White Star system.[2] The Eavesdown Docks are located here, a commercial port and Badger's base of operations. The Serenity crew lands here periodically to resupply and pick up work. Simon and River Tam, Shepherd Book and the Alliance villain Dobson were picked up here in the episode "Serenity". Book had been living on Persephone at the Southdown Abbey. The planet was also the site of a swordfighting duel between Malcolm Reynolds and Atherton Wing in the episode "Shindig". Persephone's name comes from Greek mythology as the name of the "Queen of the Underworld".

Beaumonde

Beaumonde, the fifteenth planet orbiting the star Kalidasa,[2] is a fairly wealthy planet. The planet is known to have factories and ranches. The Serenity crew arrives here after their heist on Lilac, to share part of their earnings with the brothers Fanty and Mingo. Their port of call is a large Asian city. At the bar called Maidenhead, which was chosen for these dealings, they discover River's Alliance-conditioned fighting abilities. This occurs during the Serenity movie. About seven months earlier, the crew was headed for Beaumonde in the episode "Our Mrs. Reynolds". Beaumonde roughly translated from French means "Beautiful World."

~x~

I think Persephone would be as good a place as any to set down for a day of rest, relaxation and spending ill gotten gains. It is affluent enough for Inara to see a client there and as we have had no discussion about what the Serenity crew were up to immediately prior to their day off, I suggest dropping a cargo of some kind to our old friend Badger (NPC) and picking up a fistful of currency (is it called credits?) to be getting on with. Beaumonde is close to Persephone and so I think we should be planning to head there for the next heist before M13 & LB throw a spanner in the photon reactor. Let's say for argument's sake that Mingo & Fanty (NPCs) have a job offer for Mal and then we can worry about what that might actually involve once the thread is up and moving.

So unless there's anything else people want to discuss first, I propose to open the IC thread on Persephone. I'll set the scene and have Inara meet with a client. You guys will be free to place yourselves however you choose, either on or off the ship. Mal and whoever accompanies him can make a drop to Badger and get a message from M & F. M13 and Saffron can introduce themselves and stalk the ship. This day is just to let everyone get a feel for the thread and it will be fairly uneventful. In the morning, Inara's shuttle will rejoin the ship. I'd rather establish the thread a little before everyone starts wildly fucking so perhaps we could leave elaborate, detailed scenes until after the M13/Saffron episode. I think the best plan is for M13 to realise Saffron's duplicity in the black between Persephone and Beaumonde so that allying herself to Mal becomes her only viable option.

Thoughts? Problems? Better ideas? Speak soon or forever hold your peace. :p

All ideas for the heist on Beaumonde will be gratefully received.

Incidentally, bellassecret (Kaylee) hasn't been see around here lately so I've dropped her a pm asking her to confirm her interest.

Exactly.
And, lets face it, FF/S is about characters, they are driven by who they are, not what they should be doing.

Well said.

Not just ff/s though,I think that anything worth reading or viewing has to have a plot that grows out of characters and their perceptions/needs-even if a concept initially sparks the tale.

Kind of like real life.

Anything else becomes a tedious mental exercise after a time.

Just sayin' yo...

I was composing an epic-sized explanatory post on my way to this computer.

But fuck it.

Here it is in a nutshell: I would like to stay on as Jayne and step down as Mal.

I'ld be happy to explain anything about any part of this to anyone via p.m. but I'm not going to muck up this occ thread with it.

I've the feeling that we're quite close to starting, and I do look forward to that.

Well we're not close anymore without a Captain. I'll play him if we can't find anyone else, but I'd prefer not to write for two main characters.

Ok. Well we're going to need a Kaylee too so I'll put a post on the TTNP sticky.

We need a Mal but it seems LilyBean has a suggestion. I'm playing Inara and I'm very sub/maso so I'm ideally looking for a Mal who is quite dom/sado. Also, as he's pretty much the pivotal character, I'm looking for a strong, competent writer whose capable of the odd bit of initiative without veering completely off the agreed course.

Other than that we need a Kaylee as ours has gone awol recently. If she shows up, great. If she doesn't, I don't want to delay things too long.

Ok, we have a Mal and his name is Kircanos. :nana:

I'll go bump the TTNP sticky and get us a Kaylee.

Hello everyone, I wanted to drop by and say that im relaly looking forward to writing with everyone.

Yes, welcome! :)

Now we just need a new Kaylee and we'll be set...yay...I'm getting a wee bit antsy.

I think if it starts taking too long, we should start anyway and keep her NPCed until someone comes along. Kinda sucks to have everyone else waiting for one character. I wish people would stick with what they sign up for. This has happened quite a lot recently...

On the other hand, it seems like people are always hesitant to join things already in progress. So I dunno.
