Firefly/Serenity Revisited. OOC Thread/Casting Call.

I like the whole crucible idae, if you have a good specific theme in mind

I had estimated that 40% of the listed cast would be unafraid of looking into dark corners,or,heaven forbid, testing themselves.

At least to the extent of giving each idea (and each type of idea) its day in court. You were most certainly among that forty percent.

Anyone who shows up in Velvet's sig has earned my great respect.

Right, I am going to bed. Take care of yourself, all of you, no matter what "percentage" of the cast you are in. I hope that we call all respect each other, and just have fun.

The "Bitch -Boy" part is True:

.

And sorry. I have no bonus to diplomacy.

Oh,and you REALLY shouldn't have said that. :)

Because, you see,I was going to be diplomatic with YOU.

And,now...I don't have to. :) :) :) :)

I was going to say, before your most recent group of posts, that we should all thank you for being so vigilant in attacking the flaws in the plotlines so far. I was going to say that I hoped that you would keep nerding it up for us,to keep us on track. I don't have to do that now,and I thank you.

I need not be so formal anymore. You have become...familiar. So we can now get to know one another better. In the interest of us now being intimate I will "share" with you a story from my daily life:
I showed my wife a few of your posts from earlier to get a second opinion about you. She chuckled, grinned at me and said; "He's a little bitch-boy."

Now it's your turn to "share" a personal story about your life with me so that our intimacy can continue, like a...the latest time someone laughed at your dick.
Oh,I'm sorry. Hands don't laugh,do they?

I will continue to be "intimate" with you until Velvet asks me to behave,or kicks me off the cast.
Y'know why?
Because it's HER thread. Not Joss Whedons, ya little geek.
Remember that.
P.S. That was Jayne. Wanna hear Mal?

I think we'd all like to hear your idea.

Spill.

You know how I hate to "spill",Velvet.
It's far more fun for me to "spring" things on my playmates. I had put the kids to bed with the full intention of logging on and honouring your request. I found a certain poster too entertaining to ignore, however. And I am sorry.Do whatever it is that you feel you must. There will be no hard feelings. :rose:

>>>>
I am willing to listen, but you need to stop singling out that person. It is not helpful. If you have a problem with them take it up with VelvetDarkness, or PM them, instead of calling them out in public like that. It makes me unwilling to share my own ideas, or disagree with any of yours, for fear that you will single me out as well. Now please do share your idea, but be willing to listen to what others have to say about it, without taking it as a personal attack.

I've attacked no ones' idea-nor would I ever.
My gauntlet is thrown at someone who has none. Because he was rude.

Just an idea from the peanut gallery :)

For the opener, why not have the crew be at a point where they have completed a job, been paid and are having a day or two of R & R. This will give people a chance to get into character, interact a little and start forming the relationships between everyone before throwing them into the deep end, or bringing in other important individuals.

They will be in high spirits, so minimal tensions. They can be anywhere, doing anything either on the ship or a little spread out.

Anyway... just a thought for how to kick things off.

This is good.
It will give us a chance to establish both "inner-life" and the nature of their interractions.

Bitch? I hope this didn't apply to any of my posts before your "idea" even came up, because I was simply trying to keep the context regarding Saffron reasonable. All of these characters have a certain personality for a reason, and just thinking up some quick way to get her on the ship wouldn't cut it. All I was doing was assuring we approached it with care and came up with an event that made her presence on the ship more than just a "Oh hey it's Saffron, she has a new job for us, let's see what it is" sort of thing. I technically didn't shoot down anyone's plan or idea, just gave my opinion on things. Velvet agreed with what I was saying.

When YOUR post came up, you asked if we had interest in something when you hadn't even told us what it was yet. So naturally I was skeptical. I wasn't aware it was rude enough to spawn some weird, poetic tyrade against me, but whatever. I don't really care what you or your wife thinks of me. I'm perfectly aware this is Velvet's thread and I would never try to assume control. I haven't done that in any way. I've simply given my opinion which I think as a writer in this thread I'm allowed to do.

My passing comment was in the usual vein of how I regularly post. I am a bit rude sometimes (and the diplomacy check thing was just a joke...). It's not always intentional, but your vagueness was a bit irritating. It wasn't really personal but I guess you felt you needed to turn it that way. Well I'll apologize if you felt it was an attack against you, but it wasn't. I'd still rather hear the idea before committing to it, and I'm fully willing to give it my unbiased opinion afterward.

So I'm glad you've found this all amusing, but you're obviously giving this pseudo-fued more thought than I have. If you seriously want to continue to have a problem with me, you're welcome to PM me with whatever you want to say without holding back.

Oh and a story of my daily life? I exercised a bit, took a nap and when I woke up, I checked my forums, read your post and made this reply. I don't need anyone else not posting in this thread to help me form an opinion of you. I'll do that on my own. I don't need to make dick jokes or call people names. I graduated middle school a decade ago.

whoa whoa whoa.....lets have fun! Lower the testosterone jesus christ!

I am fine holding off posting until saffron makes sense. It'll give you a chance to get going. As long as we don't kill each other before hand.

Well, you do have grace under pressure,I'll give you that.

If you read my post then you already know that I had been impressed with your vigilance
in regards to certain matters, and I was going to tell you so. Nothing would convince you that Saffron could finagle herself another try-so it seemed that it was a closed avenue. This is fine. I began to brainstorm around this problem of trust, and may have stumbled across something that could solve multiple problems we are having here pre-thread,such as: What to do with Book, how the Serenity would be "forced" into having Saffron as part of the crew(this would be the Result of this first episode, not the subject of it),and how to convince even you that the captain's psyche could be pressed towards the kind of sadism that that the OP requires (he is not so far away from it as you think,by the way-trust me) .

"Skeptical" you say? No ,downright fucking rude. Enough to spawn a tirade? I already answered that by throwing one forth.

You were rude from the start in your response to my post, but I waited until you actually made the statement that you would not be "diplomatic",that you were somehow incapable of it. I threw it back in your face in spades. No apologies. You deserved it.

My passing comments were in the vein of how I usually treat someone who's being an asshole.

We'll keep it public. You hold no interest for me in private. I've held nothing back.

And yes,I did find it amusing. The only thing I found sad was the post from HopefulRealist wherin she expressed concern that I would be overly critical of the ideas of others. That's your job,not mine. That was not a dig.

My wife makes me laugh. You had to give me a reason to show your posts in the first place, and you did.
I like dick jokes. Perhaps because I've never been the butt of one.

As I said... the diplomacy check thing was a joke. A statement not to be taken seriously. You know, a D&D reference. Dragonrazor got it. I guess I shouldn't assume everyone would.

We'll keep it public. You hold no interest for me in private.

Outside of writing with you in this thread, which I plan to continue to do without bias, you hold no interest for me period, therefore I'm not going to waste anymore energy on this. I apologize for my rudeness, but your decision to try to "take me down" in an Internet forum battle in this thread is equally rude to Velvet. Like I said, I do not care what you think of me nor do I want any apologies, but I care what she thinks since this is her game, and I'd like to continue to be a part of it.

So if PMs aren't your interest, I suggest you keep your opinions of me to yourself out of respect for her and the other players here.

It's almost a shame we're not playing Mal and Jayne. The conflict seems already established.

Good grief. I turn my back on your guys for 5 minutes!

Ok. Time to smack some heads together then. You made me do this guys, so don't go getting sulky and both attack me instead. :p

First of all, this is not my thread. The thread is the collective property of everyone posting on it. I don't claim to have dictatorial authority over what we decide to do... which is kinda why I really wanted an inventive, productive OOC thread to run alongside the IC story.

Which is why you guys need to quit dick swinging, shake hands and call a truce.

There is no need to be scathing of anybody's ideas here. The whole point of sharing them here is that we go with what the majority of players wants to do. I would really like to keep personal feelings off the thread completely because it clutters the place up and causes other players to worry about giving their own opinions. Yes, this is an anonymous thread on a sex forum and I don't expect people to become bosom buddies here. I do think we can keep conflict to a minimum though. After all, this is supposed to be fun, right?

I think it's possible that M13's suggestion of a rest day with/without shore leave could set the scene and complement the twist of DL's crucible idea. I think we should hear out that plot idea of his and then everyone can comment on whether they'd like to write it. I don't need all the whys and wherefores because that's how things get personal. I just need an idea of what people will most enjoy walking their character through. If you could elaborate for us DL, that would maybe move things along a little.

I also think it's perhaps more plausible for Saffron to be the one with options rather than supplicant to Mal. I think it's easier for Saffron to slip around the 'verse causing havoc because she has far less to lose than a ship and crew. People are welcome to disagree with this notion and I'll happily hear all alternative suggestions, as I'm sure other writers will.

Finally, if Ahren1 and DL think it's going to be a real problem for them to write together, then I think we should address that now rather than let resentments fester and to spare blushes, I'd personally rather take that discussion to pms. It's going to be daunting enough to referee the plot on this one without also having to referee the writers.

I swung no dicks, nor did I say I had any problems writing with anyone. I tried to make this obvious. Not to mention I apologized. So I really think my part in this discussion is done.

Though whether or not you want to admit it, you do have authority here. The thread creator always does. Being a dictator is not necessarily synonymous. Doesn't change the fact that it's your thread.

Well I'm very sad to hear that because I do like your writing style. I agree that you did apologise and I do still carry the hope that all this can be straightened out.

I know I do have authority and that people will look to me for leadership. I just don't think it's correct to call the thing 'my thread.' My intention is for this to be a democracy, which requires a certain amount of co-ordination but would not justify my acting like I have dictatorial authority here. One of the reasons I like Lit is for the freedom of expression allowed here and I wouldn't want people to post ideas thinking that unless it's something I personally endorse, it won't fly.

Hope that makes sense.

I'm just not sure what you still want from me out of this. I already said this really doesn't phase me. It obviously is a negative mark for a first impression on DL's part, but that's not something that I let affect my writing. Asking us to shake hands would be an artificial way to straighten things out as it does not repair those impressions. The best solution is to let it drop, like I've been wanting to do. With any luck we'll be laughing about it in a few months while the thread is still going strong.

On a semi-related note: The reason I am critical, and lately, "rude", is because I've literally had every single thread die on me due to writers suddenly losing interest or disappearing. It makes me a tad bitter. I do everything in my power to try and keep a thread alive. I try to give my ideas, or opinions on why another idea may not work.

I want this to succeed, but I'm a blunt person at times. If you have problems with the way I talk, it's usually best to talk to me one on one via PMs or AIM, as sometimes I don't even realize it, hence why I made the diplomacy joke which apparently got blown out of proportion. I dislike arguing in public threads. No matter how much I try to calm the situation, both sides always end up being told to make nice, when I was already trying to solve it on my own.

I'll be more willing to call it our thread after we've been writing in it for some time. The fact of the matter is it's just how I word things when typing in these threads. "Velvet's thread." "Lily's thread." I'm simply naming the creator of the thread. I'm not suggesting you planned on being the thread dictator. But the truth is you do have more authority than us, hence why I tend to name the thread after the creator. If someone were to ask me or someone else who is in this thread if they could join, the decision would not be ours. I would direct them to you. In turn you may ask our opinion and decide based on it, but so far you've chosen the writers.

But if it really bothers you, I'll avoid saying it from now on.

It's fine. I do understand what you mean and I take on board everything you've said. This is only my 2nd attempt to co-ordinate a multiplayer thread so I'm bound to be somewhat flawed as a thread creator due to lack of experience. I'm also very passionate about this thread because the last one went south on me and I just adore FF/S. I think we have a great bunch of writers and that it'll shape up to be a lot of fun.

I run an RP site that hasn't died in six years. Velvet you've got my support to keep this one going! :p

Reference does not equal "joke".

You cannot be "taken down" in cyberspace.

Snideness is form of expression of opinion concerning the person being spoken to or about- a very weak and cowardly form. I'll stop with the personal opinions if you can the "snide".

I would actually agree with you,if this were a thread that was not going to be overtly sexual.

You're going to make an excellent Simon, though. I say this with a complete lack of irony or malice.

I would Never attack you.

It is your thread,at the very least, until it gets under way. I feel as though I've been kicking around in your dollhouse, and,as I've said,if you see fit to jettison me over this tussle there will be no hard feelings at all.

A "truce" of sorts is already developing on it's own. Slowly. Organically. At least that's my perception.

Two strong personalities here may have opposing ideas as to what would make a thread like this "fun". Two opposing sets of fears as to what could make it a real drag. This may be the core problem. If we could find a way to coordinate them properly,it could become this threads' core strength.

M13's suggestion is spot on.

I think that the "whys" and wherefores" concerning the acceptance or rejection of a plot,or elements of a plot are actually quite crucial. Solutions cannot be found unless problems are quickly defined-and then possible alternatives offered. I want to talk more about this.

Right,if Mal's hands are tied, his trepidation becomes irrelevant.

The problems that A___,and I are having now could not possibly harm the actual thread. This planning stage is the rough spot. If we can make it through this by sussing things out to the satisfaction of everyone, then we (the entire cast) should be home free.

Lord knows whether that will happen or not...

RL calls. Later.

I am happy you see it as a "truce" of a sort, between you two. As Book might tell you "A soft answer turns away wrath". If we can all just agree to see what happens, and to have fun writing for our characters, maybe it will shape up. If we are done attacking each other, maybe we can start to play.

Hi all.

As a means of moving forwards, perhaps we could have a show of hands and some opinions regarding the idea that we start with Serenity on a rest day (with or without shore leave on a friendly-ish planet) and then move on to a crisis that necessitates a temporary truce with Saffron. I know we don't have the details worked out yet but it'd be good to see who thinks this could work.

As I said before, I think it could be a good way to open the SRP, but that's just my vote, don't let me influence yours.

I'm for it, but then I'm a little biased :)

Miss Velvet, if there are any persona's you are wanting early on, please let me know so I can research/create them for you.

I think we definitely need an Alliance ship captain who has a particular interest in Serenity and the Tams. It may be that you're called on to play other Alliance officials that we run into or steal from but I think there should be a specific Alliance character gathering intel to be used (unbeknown to him) by an Operative. He's likely frustrated and insulted that he's on a permanent stake-out and that the powers above him won't send him in to retrieve a 90lb teenage girl. Later on you will be able to play the Operative but we don't want to go into the whole Miranda thing or triggering River until further into the SRP.

If you want a hot female subordinate to play with, I'm sure I can oblige. ;)

I think thats a good idea since it will let us show a bit of how we are going to write our characters. Can we start soon please?
PLEASE?
My inner River needs out!
