Spence99 said:thor, you should visit sometime. I live right on a Great Lake. Amazing fishing. Plus a million streams and rivers all over the place. It's a delight if fishing is your thing.
We could fire up my boat and head out for a couple days!
thør said:a couple days?
does your boat hold enough beer?
My son is a smoked salmon freak . I buy sides of smoked salmon that weigh over 1.2 kilos on average . He can eat that in less than a week and he is still a scrawny little dude. We are on consecutive salmon purchase week 3 here. I may send him to live with Uncle Thor .thør said:That reminds me, i've got some smoked salmon belly strips in the fridge thawing out.......yummmm.....
You can go out in salt water and troll for feeder kings (salmon) right now, but May-June is the "season".....i prefer salmon caught in salt water, kings, silvers, reds, dogs and humpies.....all good to eat out of of the salt......Halibut is good, but not as good as codfish or rockfish.....

Darn, you are making me now hungry for Toro (fat bellied Tuna).
The Mahi here, when I go deep sea fishing about 12 or so miles off the coast, is awesome for a meat fish. *see? I knew I forgot some, as well as, swordfish*. I have reeled is some good sized ones. The Blue Marlins are catch and release. A friend's mom is Korean and cuts up the fish right as soon as we come in. Yummmmmm...
It's official the guys sound boring now , I am going fishing with you . Where are you ?veryblueeyes said:I eat salmon and halibut sashimi and adore it.

At this rate I may have to 'sleep' with the wholesaler .thør said:You might need to deal with a wholesaler!
thør said:the really big halibut aren't that great eating and not nearly the fun to catch as salmon...my favorite fishing is freshwater, rainbows, grayling, char.....

Trout fishing. I like streams when fresh water fishing. I have tried fly fishing, but can't get the twist of my wrist right. I do ride my bike down to the sound and just cast and read a book sometimes. When I was younger, I used to go catfishing at night. Pretty freaking boring.
veryblueeyes said:The coast of NC. There are many fishing tourneys. It's much fun.
Thor, I just need someone to filet the fish better than I can. That's why when my friends mom is available for tourneys is a great thing.
Not me .........smilesthør said:do you ladies need someone to cut bait?
Oh my.........thør said:I might have to get back into the commercial fishing biz

I set a record for my age when I caught a white pointer shark off the coast of Fiji. True story is that we were tuna fishing , my poor tuna was a lonnnnnnnnnng time being reeled in . Shark came up and swallowed my poor tuna . The men helped me reel it in but I remained in the chair . Taaa Dar . Made the papers I was 9 .
veryblueeyes said:No shit! My own was reeling in a Sailfish. I was strapped in the chair, but I was early 20 something, though only around 90 some lbs. The first mate had set the troll, but I reeled that sucker in. I had bruises in my tummy area from the rod and from the straps from reeling it in. Catch and release, of course, but I was proud, as it was tagged.
Thor, I want some Salmon. I miss living on the west coast quite often. *Grrr...*grumble
