Two blondes are in a river holding fishing poles with the lines in the water. A game warden comes up behind them, taps them on the shoulder and says, "Excuse me, ladies, I'd like to see your fishing licenses."

"We don't have any." replied the first woman.

"Well, if your going to fish, you need fishing licenses." said the game warden.

"But officer," replied the second girl, "we aren't fishing. All we have are magnets at the end of our lines and we're collecting debris off the bottom of the river."

The game warden lifted up the lines and, sure enough, there were horseshoe magnets tied on the end of each line. "Well, I know of no law against it," shrugged the game warden, "take all the debris you want." And with that, the game warden left.

As soon as he was out of sight, the women started laughing hysterically. "What a dumb Fish Cop! Doesn't he know that there are steelheads in this river?!"

I like to fish. Mostly for bass, though occasionally we get lucky and catch the odd pickerel or two. (I think Americans call them walleye not pickerel though).

One day I would like to take a charter out on the big lake and go salmon fishing. :)

Walleyes...yes. A wonderful fish. It's been way too long but I remember backtrolling on a northern Minnesota lake late at night with my dad. My sister wasn't into it and my mom was always done after the evening crappie fishing. So it was Dad and me, trailing long lines with leach-tipped feathered jigs at their ends, slowly chugging backwards up and down the underwater ridge that my dad could somehow follow unerringly. A four or six pound walleye is a blast to catch. I was pretty small when we started doing this and I remember my dad holding on to my waist so I wouldn't go overboard.

We call something else pickerel, though.

We have a storm rolling in. The thunder is coming from the west edge of town, now. The sky is lighting up; the wind is stirring the trees. I love thunderstorms.

Been raining all day. The sun is peeking through the clouds, but the rain is still coming down. It's great for quenching the wildfire three miles away.

Holy big enough batch of roe on that hook! Down east here rainbows and salmon is usually single egg or half a dozen eggs in a sack.

Lots of fish!

You're a freaking native up there. You could live like that for a fraction of the price they pay. Put up with cushiness for the numbers of fish.

Roughing it way more fun. Don't take that long to rustle up bacon and egg sandwich and a cup of coffee, wash said dishes and be out on the water.

I can't seem to catch a carp on the fly but I've caught everything else around here.
