Flaunting the Fitness

I posted more detail on the fitness thread but wanted to share on this great thread by Moochie as well.

Exactly one year ago today I had a heart event. It happened to be my birthday, so not the best present I’ve received. However, as soon as I was able and had medical clearance, I’ve been concentrating on improving my fitness, inside and out.

Today’s anniversary celebration consisted of a good run followed by nutrition recovery and then a solid strength / weights session.

Keep working hard, everyone.

I switch between elliptical, dumbbells and floor exercises

Without a doubt it is riding my bike. My wife and I bought e-bikes for our 40th anniversary. I like having a motor in case I over do it. I always have a way home! So far the motor has not been used.

I am thinking of Tai Chi for flexibility and relaxation. Anyone have any experience? Don't say "yoga"; my body doesn't move like that lol.

I also want to try Tai Chi. Ive been doing daily walks of 3 to 5 miles a day since the start of the summer and still find my bones aching haaaaa?!?! I need to stretch and like you I can't do yoga so I'm hoping tai chi nay be the answer?!

Just a post-run pic from yesterday to share this morning. Sunday is my rest day (which means I’ll probably just do a little indoor bike or yoga before trying to sleep later this morning). Enjoy your weekend everyone!
You look fantastic

Everyone is looking so healthy! Thank you for sharing and I hope you continue.

Stayed at a hotel and used the treadmill for the first time since before starting my journey with running. It was interesting and not my favourite way to run, but sometimes weather wins out against gear and I’m going to want an alternative for those days (or more likely for me, nights).

Looks like you had quite the workout!

Treadmills are good when there is a lack of better options. And there is just something about a post workout sweaty picture

Okay, so hear me out -

I’ve been working on… well… working out - getting healthier - doing the right thing for my body’s future. Anyway, with running daily comes the cute outfits and the skintight leggings and the women with their hair in ponies bouncing in front of me on the trail and the men with their shirts off all sweaty and… well…all the yum!

Let’s share it here!

I’ll show you mine if you show me yours!
Sounds like a wonderful idea ... I'd looked for someone who would enthusiastically endorse my weight loss, perhaps even setting a challenge of "lose xx pounds and I'll do something sexy for you."

So, I'm down 9 or 10 pounds (yep, I know those will be the easy off pounds) I've got a number in mind that will be astonishing if I can stay motivated and get there -- basically back to the weight I was in my 30s.

Gym work starts next week ... want to be down 5 more by the end of Sept.

It is really tough, isn’t it? That’s why I think it’s important to celebrate even the little things we do to exercise and get healthy.

Side note, I learned about this delicious dessert that is super easy to make and actually good for you - it’s called protein pudding. The base of the recipe is a cold protein shake and three tablespoons of a sugar free instant pudding mix. I’ve been adding coconut milk and chia seeds to mine to make it fattier and have more fiber, but seriously, it’s delicious!

This has become one of my favorite snacks. I also add the PB powder depending on which flavor I am going for.

Love your smile!!

Thank you. ☺️

Beautiful smile

Thank you for saying so. ☺️

Looking good Mooch!

Thanks, hotoldrguy! 🌷

You have beautiful skin.

Buffalo Bill aside, thank you. I hardly ever get that as a compliment because I’m often covered in freckles and bruises. 🌷

Good morning to you. Looking really nice.

Hello, and thank you. This aqua colour is more my sister’s, but I really liked the cut of the top and that it’s airy. 🌷

I enjoy hearing about everyone’s fitness journey. Thank you for sharing yours. I’m not really interested in losing weight myself (though I am heavier than three years ago) and more looking to better my mental and cardiovascular fitness. I have a 10k race at the end of this month and have the goal of running the whole thing - 🤞🤞 - do you have any non-weight based goals? I find having other things to work towards makes things like a diet change or exercise more permanent.

There are a few more of us sighing ... wistfully and with some triggered memories of being young and running with someone who looked like you.

Uh oh! Didn’t mean to trigger anyone! 🙊😜

Proud of that cardio dedication 💪🏼💪🏼

Thank you so much, cpu. 🌷

They’re so easy and tasty, aren’t they?!!? Thanks, Sassy. How are you feeling?
