Foodgasms

I don't know if she's still there, but Susan Notter was/is working about a mile from my house!

Small world.

I made those as a surprise for my son. The cupcakes have piped icing as the spaghetti, a Ferrero Rocher hazelnut chocolate as the meatball, strawberry preserves for sauce, and I shaved white chocolate for the parmesan. Very easy and a lot of fun to do!

And delicious!

I can still see his face when he saw them. He could not stop smiling.

You are simply the best.

I'm baking a few more to experiment on right now. I've been kneading, coloring and embossing fondant to go on top. They'll be given to the gals at my salon tomorrow. (Keeps me from eating them all!)

If they turn out well, I'll post a photo.

Picture, if you will, two thick juicy, beautifully marbled steaks, grilled medium rare. Each topped with a pat of Cambozola compound butter. Served with roasted parsnips, parsley root, and fennel, along with a maîche, radicchio, and frisée salad. All accompanied by a 2002 d'Arenberg Laughing Magpie.

Such was our Memorial Day foodgasm, just one of several we had over the last week. Collette made the most amazing terriyaki and pineapple skewers, first with chicken, then with shrimp. Her chicken quesadillas with roasted salsa verde were exquisite, as well.

Yum!

I had some Rainer cherries. Grown in California. Sold at CostCo.

Those and a rotisserie chicken were dinner. And then lunch.

!!!

Those are spectacular, baby!
Thanks, sweetie! The boy just announced that we should start a business and says he'll sell them from his bike. :D
Gorgeous! I would love to learn how to bake like that! You are very talented.
Thank you! :rose: These are simple (taste-wise), but I'd love to try more exotic flavors. I hate the taste of rolled fondant on cakes and found that it's easy to mix up my own (much less expensive, too). I also want to try making it with white and dark chocolate.

You must have used your brand spanking new pastry cutters on those.

I was fully expecting them to be beautiful, but... wow.

You are a star.

Those food shots look amazing.

Ulaven and I went out to lunch today, to celebrate our probably not going out to lunch for a little while in honor of his buying a motorcycle. He's in love. We even got the leather jacket to complete the ensemble.

Lunch was fantastic, and instead of bread they served a tiny little salad with a dressing I could drink in a glass. Peanut sauce and coconut milk were the primary notes, I got home and made a huge batch with generic peanut sauce and a can of coconut milk, added a little rice wine vinegar. Delicious over salad and just as delicious over a little rice and roast pork for dinner.

I'm starting to experiment with stuff that freezes well, I just made a batch of custards for brulee on demand...going to make a batch of yeast biscuits to freeze...and a few bags full of brined chicken ready to fry.

I've also got to pick up some decent red thai tea to make thai iced tea. I love that stuff.
