Those food shots look amazing.

Ulaven and I went out to lunch today, to celebrate our probably not going out to lunch for a little while in honor of his buying a motorcycle. He's in love. We even got the leather jacket to complete the ensemble.

Lunch was fantastic, and instead of bread they served a tiny little salad with a dressing I could drink in a glass. Peanut sauce and coconut milk were the primary notes, I got home and made a huge batch with generic peanut sauce and a can of coconut milk, added a little rice wine vinegar. Delicious over salad and just as delicious over a little rice and roast pork for dinner.

I'm starting to experiment with stuff that freezes well, I just made a batch of custards for brulee on demand...going to make a batch of yeast biscuits to freeze...and a few bags full of brined chicken ready to fry.

I've also got to pick up some decent red thai tea to make thai iced tea. I love that stuff.

The dressing sounds delicious! I love all of those ingredients so I'll definitely try to make up a batch.

I've only begun to freeze things over the past year. After I was divorced, I noticed how much food I was having to throw away and decided to buy a little vacuum sealer. It was well worth it considering the money I save now.

beautiful! We should open a bakery together!
We really should! I want to come back as a pastry chef in my next life.

Here's another shot from today's batch. I was goofing off with the bits of leftover fondant and made the flowers...which my child has already swiped. Now I'm tired and plan to collapse!

's purdy.
Thank you. :) I've been ransacking the house for ideas and items to use for the embossing. Last night I was making lattice work with my dressmaker's tracing wheel.

That's it, come here and bake with me!

They are awesome, I'm thinking about making the spaghetti ones for my nephew, he'll love them.

Anytime! We need a baking Lit-together.

The spaghetti ones are a lot of fun. I found that the preserves softened up the icing a bit, so if you make them up the day before, just spoon it on shortly before serving. :)

You did a great job, Collette! So pretty!

Have you ever worked with chocolate draping?

So gorgeous.

Some day soon, you and I are going to throw a dinner party that will be spoken of in reverent, hushed tones for years to come.

Have it at my house! HAVE IT AT MY HOUSE!

Yes. I said it aloud. In caps.

We can watch Firefly.

I can't promise hushed tones, but...I can dream, huh?

Thank you, lovely! I had a lot of fun with it.

No, most of the experiences that I've had with decoration involved piped icing, buttercream, and marzipan. Do you mean actually draping over a cake (covering it) or the swags that can be added on?

You make me smile. A Firefly party at your house would be great fun. And the hushed tones would for be AFTER the party. The party itself would be decidedly unhushed. There would be barbaric yawping.

I vote for Reci's place! We get Firefly and don't have to worry about high altitude messing up the baking. :D

Word. That stuff isn't so yummy if'n you ask me.

Those are beautiful, though. High Five.
Thank you! Yes, I've never understood putting the pre-made kind on a cake, then everyone having to peel it off. With the money people pay for those types of cakes, they should taste as good as they look.

Plus, there's Reci!

Anywhere, anytime, as long as you're there. I'd even throw a party with you in El Pa*ducks*
