British urine’s allowed to grow old,
And then placed in a fridge till it’s cold,
And then the whole lot’ll
Be sealed in a bottle
And, as beer, to Americans, sold.

Many years ago, I was travelling in the back blocks of New Zealand and I stopped at the tiny off-licence section of a country pub to buy a bottle of wine.

While I was there, I also spotted a dusty bottle of Remy Martin cognac in the 'bargain bin' with a price of 12 shillings and sixpence. (This was some years after New Zealand had adopted decimal currency.)

I selected a bottle of wine. And then I said to the chap behind the counter: 'The Remy ... is there something wrong with it?'

He squinted though his cigarette smoke - first at the bottle of cognac, and then at me - 'Nah. Don't think so, mate. From what I hear it's supposed to be a good drop of piss. Don't know why nobody has bought it.'

'Tell you what, make it a dollar and I'll take it off your hands,' I said.

'Well, it is old,' he said. 'Yeah. OK.'

:)

I had my first taste of Remy Martin on a cruise five years ago.

It was still swirling around on my tongue when I started silently cursing every drop of homemade dandelion wine and West Virginia white lightning I had let destroy my taste buds!

Some folks seem to think that about some of the German biers.
As I recall it, they are wrong.

Back in my younger days, a large group of co-workers {waitri, cooks and bartenders} would descend on a local hotel bar where the bartender who really didn't have a clue would serve Remy as "brandy" in very large snifters for a dollar a shot.

Needless to say, the manager eventually caught on, but it was fun while it lasted.

As I recall, Pete Townshend dedicated his album Empty Glass to Remy Martin, thanking them for "making the damned stuff so expensive," or something like that, and thereby saving his life.

The age old question to ponder: Is your glass half empty or half full?

Given a choice of ^that^ or crap rap or beers~tears~divorce C&W, I'll take the one at your link first.

Or I'll just load up my CD of Tomita's "Planets" and fire up the bong.

I've never been keen on rap-crap, either.
C & W does not do very well over here (thank the Lord).
Isao Tomita, now; that's magical.
I've liked his music for 40 years (remember 'Snowflakes are Dancing' ?)

I always find snowflakes more charming on film than in real life. :)
