Fun in Minnesota

Very belatedly, I adore that movie. :) Along with Drop Dead Gorgeous. Have you seen that one? I think they did a better job with the accent than they did in Fargo.

I LOVE Drop Dead Gorgeous!!! I have a copy on my shelf. My oldest daughter went through a similar pageant, without the murder of course. She should have won but, just like the movie, she came in second (Princess) and the daughter of the woman who ran the pageant came in first (Queen). My kids and I watch that movie and laugh our heads off! I love the accent too and there are so many funny little things in there... I think I like Loretta the best.

Movie quote: "I think you have some Lutefisk in your hair."
"Must be Wednesday."

Who's your favorite character?

Haven't been on in a while. Been really busy at work and have been working outside around here building a retaining wall. I'm going to build a garage this summer and need the wall to get the site level. It's a good workout!

Leaving town again for a week...

How's your Spring on the east coast?

Good afternoon fellow minnesotians. Greetings from NE MN along the shores of Lake Superior. Hope everyone is having a great day.

Welcome, Liternut! I miss Lake Superior. Such a beautiful part of the country.

That is too funny. I think they really nailed some of the cliches. ;)

And Loretta is definitely my favorite as well.

Loretta: Can one of yous boys give me a ride home?
Annette Atkins: Don't fall for it. She lives two trailers down.
Loretta: So? Be real easy.
Annette Atkins: Go on home, Loretta. Come on. Go on, the party's over.
Loretta: Anyone?

and

Amber Atkins: Loretta, never have kids.
Loretta: Oh, honey, God bless ya for thinking I still could.

And the weather today is gorgeous, and should be through the weekend. Whee! It's green! Luckily I'll actually have the weekend to myself, as well. We had our first run of the new ballet this last weekend, then it finishes the weekend after this one. Nice and short. :)

never did see the movie, then again I don't realy like the Coen brothers

*gasps* My estimation of your taste in movies has just taken a nosedive. ;)

(kidding) They're not all that easy to like. I generally enjoy their stuff, though. I adored the... uh. I just forot the name of it. The one with ... GAH. That E.R. actor. Man, I am not having a good day. Fighting with my computer/motherboard/WTF has killed half my brain cells.

Wow...Haven't been here in a while. I've been in Oklahoma and I just got back from fishing...Only got one Walleye...Was fun anyway, even with the rain and 50 deg weather

How's everybody been?

Dizzy, are you performing in the ballet? (I guess it's over now) How did it go?

"Oh Brother Where Art Though?" George Clooney...

I love this scene...

Clerk: I don't have the part you need. I can order it, it'll be here in two weeks.

Everett: Two weeks huh...Let me have a can of Dapper Dan

Clerk: I don't carry Dapper Dan I carry FOP.

Everett: I don't want FOP God dammit, I want Dapper Dan. I'm a Dapper Dan man!

Clerk: Watch your mouth young man this is a public place. I can order Dapper Dan for you, it'll be here in two weeks.

Everett: What a geographical oddity this place is...Two weeks from everywhere! Give me a dozen hairnets.

Now, how can you not like the Coen bros with dialogue like that?

How is everyone's Spring starting out?

Gopher Everett? ;)

The ballet went very well, considering this is the first time we've ever run it. The rumor is we'll do the same ballet next spring.

And I agree. The Coens' humor is right up my alley.

I hope the walleye was a good one!

hi old friends....

hi Dizzy and Dr Bong...been a few Summers...

I love Cohen Brothers movies!!!!! Here's a line from "Raising Arizona"

Nicolas Cage at the Convenience store: "I'll take these here Huggies and whatever cash you got in the register, and make it fast 'cause I'm in Dutch with the wife (waiting in the car).

CLASSIC!

Minnesota get-together reunion?....

I would love a reunion, even though I don't like the Coen Brothers

For Comedy my tastes run more towrds Mel Brooks, Julie Brown, or the Marx Brothers

Hey Doc...

Do you like Monty Python?

Fly by posting to see if you types are alive or frozen.

definitely not frozen just got back from a short trip to Vegas, so broiled may be more appropriate

Not frozen and still alive. After 7 weeks with me, my kids went to their mom's for the rest of the summer today. It's as quiet here as a graveyard. I'm missing them already...

Haven't been here in a while, don't get too much time lately but my evenings just opened up! Had a few rum and cokes tonight and am feeling the effects.

How's everyone's summer been so far? Been thinking about a road trip soon. Any suggestions?

I have a book recommendation for you guys. "The Bride Stripped Bare". It was very good. There are three lives we all live, a public life, a private life and a secret life. This book defined and wove all three in the thoughts of a married woman and the face she put on for others, what she revealed to her husband and, her secret thoughts she kept to herself. It's very erotic and lays bare what a woman thinks but never says out loud.

Hope everyone's summer is awesome so far! :)

Oh, that sounds like an excellent book, thanks!

Here's to the rest of summer.

Hi, Dj-Eros, welcome to the board.

Massachusetts here, but former Minnesotan. I just bug the guys here until they get tired of me. ;)

It is a great book. I already borrowed it to a friend.

How's it going out east? It's going to be 100 deg here this weekend and I have to work...Oh well, I'll live.

Still no luck in the romance department. I keep waiting for Sandra Bullock to show up!

Take care and Diz... We aren't tired of you...

MG

Where is everyone???

You guys still around?

Doc...Have you watched any Monty Python lately?
"Look, a five ounce bird could not carry a one pound coconut."

Diz...Did you find that book "The Bride Stripped Bare"?

Hi, MG. (Isn't that a car?)

I'm around, just wicked busy and stressed. Grr. I've resigned from my job and awaiting the fallout. I'm also waiting to find out if it means I'm officially done today, Friday or next Friday. I hate waiting.

Aaaand... just... a few other issues to sort out in my head. When it rains, it pours.

What sort of fallout do you expect? Did you give your employer a two week notice? Do you think they will let you go early? It's no fun waiting for someone else to decide your life for you...I feel for you Diz.

Do you have another job lined up?

A few other issues to sort out? I'm doing the same thing. I took a week off to A: take a breather from work and B: to figure out some things in my life like where do I fit in? If, or how long should I live where I do, what do I want, and the biggest mystery - women

Hope it all turns out good for you!

MG is a car isn't it...I think they stold that acronym from me!
