Fun in Minnesota

What sort of fallout do you expect? Did you give your employer a two week notice? Do you think they will let you go early? It's no fun waiting for someone else to decide your life for you...I feel for you Diz.
Fallout: The woman I was supposedly going to replace (though she still shows no signs of retiring nine months later) is a psychotic bitch. (And I mean psychotic quite literally here.) She's at least half the reason I'm resigning. I'm still waiting for my boss to tell her the news and expecting extreme passive-aggressive of a psychotic nature. Talk about a toxic environment.

Two week notice: Yes, against my best wishes. I do hope they'll let me go before that, but I guess when you come down to it, what's another seven days? It's another paycheck, that's for sure. I'm just itching to get out, because this resignation is about eight months overdue, and the stress and frustration are taking their toll on my health.

Do you have another job lined up?
I know I'm supposed to, but no. However, my agent at contract/temp agency I used to work for is itching to set me up with a few short-term assignments she has in mind, which is what I'm looking for right now. My credit is good, I have money in the bank, and I'm highly employable. I'm not worried. Besides, I don't want to commit to another job until I've figured out the other issues.

A few other issues to sort out? I'm doing the same thing. I took a week off to A: take a breather from work and B: to figure out some things in my life like where do I fit in? If, or how long should I live where I do, what do I want, and the biggest mystery - women
*laughs* Your issues sound eerily familiar. ;) Though as to the last, I think both men and women are a mystery, followed thereafter by, "And is there one for me?" ;)

Hope it all turns out good for you!
Thank you. :)

MG is a car isn't it...I think they stold that acronym from me!

I love your description "A psychotic passive-agressive bitch" it made me laugh. At least you have some light at the end of the tunnel now. Since you've decided to quit, you've made a choice in your life. You can also choose whether or not you're going to let her bother you, which can be a great and liberating feeling. Just smile and let it roll off because it doesn't matter anymore! After you're done there, you can take some time off for yourself too. It sure does feel good to get some extra sleep and have some time to just think...To organize thoughts and find the priorities.

Your boss hasn't told her yet? Sounds like he/she is scared of the psychotic passive-agressive bitch! Seeing what happens after the news is delivered might be worth sticking around to see.

As for the rest of the issues. I wonder sometimes if we are put into situations in life that make us take a step back and look at where we are; what we are doing. If we don't take an occasional look we find ourselves just "Going through the motions" without knowing why. I think the 'why' is important and have been thinking on that alot lately.

"And is there one for me?" ;)

How about "When???"

Royalties? Now that's a great idea!!!

Yeah, I felt so good when I gave him the letter. *snip!* No longer tied down. It made for a much more relaxed weekend.

I can guess at his motives, but I don't think it's fear. I think he's sparing her the agony of knowing she's scared away yet another employee until he and his wife have decided what to do about it.

I do not hate my job. I do not hate the people. I'm just not cut out for this particular job, and I've discovered to my surprise that I cannot in fact work with every type of person. Such as... the psychotic passive-aggressive type. But aside from her, I've never met such a solid group of just good people. And they're lawyers, at that. I think it takes a special kind of lawyer to get into labor law. There must be a prerequisite that you actually care about someone other than yourself. It was refreshing to find out there are still people like that in the world.

Oh, absolutely. Ruts are easy because they're ruts. It's easier to stay in than step out. Rocks in the road tend to bump us out when we'd rather just keep going, however. It can be jarring. ;)

You must have made the right choice.

Hopefully you'll find the same type of people at the next place you work. Those are the people I tend to latch onto. In my experience I have found that if someone cares about what they do and those around them, it makes all the difference in the world. I wish you luck in that.

Sometimes I guess we all need a good "bump" to straighten things out. Speaking of that, I think I'll have a Rum & Coke tonight!

I'm not sure, but I think part of my rut is not having a companion. I have a few really good friends and know lots of people but seem to be missing that one special woman in my life. There's so much happening between now and mid Oct that I don't think I even have time to go out on a date. That sounds on the verge of being rediculous, but it's true. Maybe I should re-organize my priorities...Mmmm

After your last day at work, take some time for yourself...Good luck job hunting!

MG (Haven't seen a dime yet)

Maybe a Margarita tonight! Want one?
With this weather, I was thinking more along the Gin & Tonic line of drinks.

Hot there eh? Don't worry, we had that heat too and there's relief in sight! Had a nice storm and the temp dropped 30 deg!

Is tomorrow your last day at work?

Yes, the storms are rolling in tonight. The temperature dropped from 90 to 70 in half an hour this evening during dinner. It was so nice to open every window wide again.

And yes, tomorrow's the last day. Hopefully I can clean up all the lingering loose ends.

How was your last day? Everything work out OK?

Been super busy here and haven't had much time to myself. Work, work, work!

The State Fair is just around the corner...Anyone going?

It went well. I barely got everything done. They've contracted me to cover for one of the secretaries on the 21st and 22nd. I need to figure out how much to bill them. (!!!) I've never had to bill anyone before. I'll make tax time more interesting.

Oh, I miss the State Fair. The one out here just isn't the same.

Not that I know of. I was in a punchy mood. :) It's Nutcracker season. I blame that for a lot of things. *Grins*

Alas, meanings come across very poorly via text sometimes.

ok that is good to hear, my life has been a little cukoo-wumpus (to use my daughter's favorite expression) lately, so that may have been some of the reason I interpreted things that way

Bad vibes, go away!

Instead, I'll share my recent amusement.

I bought the latest X-Men movie on DVD a couple weeks back, and it came with a comic book that included the first issue of X-Men. When I got to the part where Jean Gray was supposed to be "Marvel Girl", I nearly pissed myself.

The funniest part is, I didn't think it was that lame when I first read it years ago. Oh, how perspectives do change.

a lot of the comics from the 60s don't hold up well, but a lot from the 70s do

look at the Captain AAmerica and Avengers when they were written by Steve Englehart to see what I mean
