Gardening: Plants, Flowers, Veggies, Trees and All Things Green

Good morning, you beautiful lot. It's a great summer morning here. It rained overnight so the air is clear, the compost is turned, the day ahead is good.
Sage is cut back so the smell is divine, the buddleia will be out soon and a lot of the rest is on the way.

A few were ready for their close-up, if you're interested.

Container count this week: 84 🫣

Lovely flowers, darlin'. 😍

Love lavender......keeps the bugs at bay. Have them scattered around the yard.

The stargazers I planted for my Mom. Not quite ready yet.

So lovely. @Lily13 ! Did the Artisan Lily come in a planter, by chance? How old is your Lavender? I can e strand stay healthy. never get one to live past two growing seasons.
Thank you 😊 It came as a gift in a container. They don’t last long though and don’t come back throughout summer 😞 At least the stems stay nice and green. The lavender is about 5 years. They do get straggly after a few years I noticed. I try and get everything in threes, so I have a nice balance.

I'll show a few of the rows from the big garden.. please excuse the weeds, I was on vacation. My Dad, bless him, ran the tiller down the walk rows while I was gone, so they're mostly clear. The zinnias did not take this year... *sighs* The kiddos have been tossing out "flower confetti," so I expect marigolds will start popping up everywhere. 😆

Let's see... two rows of various tomatoes, basils... won't show the cucumbers till they perk up some more, and peppers need to be weeded around. I had plans to line everything in grass clippings with wood chips on the walk ways, but plans have not worked out. Oh, and the reason the mounds are so tall is due to the low water table in this area of the yard- 2 acres worth of water funnels through here, which cuts down on watering, but also brings along boggy soil and wash out.

Beautiful flowers

You are quite a gardener!! I wokld
Like to grow hot peppers more than I’d like to eat them.

Are they good at keeping deer away?
The deer decimated the strawberry bed while I was away but didn't bother the peppers adjacent to them. I have used dehydrated and crushed peppers as a cat and squirrel deterrent.

I hoed the garden for an hour then raked the yard for grass clippings for a half hour.. sadly, this is all the thatch I had to mulch with. But hey, it's done and was quite therapeutic! Time to stay cool indoors till the heat advisory passes.
(Plants are 3 feet apart, mounds are 3ft wide to give you an idea on size..)

Got some more cherry tomatoes. The others are getting eaten before they ripen. Squash and beans going good. Waiting for the 4 cucumbers to ripen. Onions are going nuts this year
