Gardening: Plants, Flowers, Veggies, Trees and All Things Green

I’m trying really hard to turn my black thumb green. Last year I purchased these banana plants to put around the pond..they never really came up and I convinced myself I killed them before they even had a chance..but just LOOK at them now and that new leaf coming out 😍
Those plants are beautiful. I love how waxy and shiny those green leaves are.

You HAVE a green thumb!!

Love these. I wonder if they grow in zone 6

We have a small pumpkin field, probably a quarter of an acre. But this is our even smaller pumpkin patch where we are growing Big Max and Super Max pumpkins. They’ve been in the ground for about a month now and seem to be doing much better. We’re having to water them due to the drought in the north east, but they seem pretty healthy.

Black eyed Susan’s emerging.

There seem to be several different varieties of these, and we get some early ones which bloom in June and early July. Some mid season ones, which bloom in July and August. They’re even some late ones that come out in August and September, but they all look a little bit different.

Just beautiful. The peppers and tomatoes look great!

Also the coneflower.

I don’t think I have and fruit started yet.

The habaneros, Ghost, Carolina Reaper, and Jalapeños are flourishing while the Datil and Jigsaw are floundering. I think the odd weather is to blame for it.. The tomatoes are starting to produce well, as is the squash. The pumpkins and watermelon are starting to really grow well BUT the squash bugs have shown up. 😑

Hate those squash bugs. We got some insecticidal soap that kills them. I think Home Depot or Lowe’s… maybe that’ll help??

Those peppers look great! A little too hot for my taste, tho.

Our tomatoes have not really flowered yet, but our pumpkins dead, and we planted them dangerously early. It’s been really cool and dry here in the NE for the last month. At least we’re finally getting some rain.

I've been trying to use DE and Neem oil to keep their numbers down (also hand picking and dunking them in soapy water), but I may have to step up my game.

Lovely! 😍

My arms are jello.. still more to go.. need to finish weeding. 😪
