GeeBee Tech Support thread - pose questions, get answers

Build one.

Seriously.

I'm never buying a pre-built again.

Just drive on down to your local Micro Center and tell 'em what you want the machine to do and they'll spec it out and build it within budget (assuming the budget allows for CAD-authored lesbians to pop out of a 144Hz screen).

And, go AMD. Don't be a douche and go Intel or Nvidia.

And don't cheap out on the thermal paste.

fuck off with that build one shit

no one needs to do that anymore

petey, look for a machine with an i-7 or i-9 and as much memory as it can hold. i'd go 32 if you can

get a hd that is not smaller than a tb

unless you start editing videos, the graphics card that comes with it should be fine

You fuck off with that "support the computer oligarchy and having to fork over gobs of $ for generic performance" BS.

Fuck off with prebuilt systems artificially limiting RAM speeds even though the chipset can support faster RAM.

Fuck off with that proprietary connector BS.

Fuck off with limiting Petey's ability to play the new flight simulator.

Finally, fuck off with team blue and their Swiss cheese approach to security.

have you tried turning it off and then back on to fix these issues?

LG Stylo

Playing GotC on this phone and it has started crapping. I have a 1000 MBPS internet and it is on this phone that everything is crapping out.

The other game lichess app works fine (no issues).

For those of you shopping for a new (or first) SSD, it's very hard to tell if you're buying a DRAM or DRAM-less drive (with the difference in random IOPS between the two significant and in favor of the former):, a crowdsourced spreadsheet that's kept up to date can be of help to you.

It's kept on google docs, so you may want to log out of google or open in incognito mode:

The voice: Your challenge - if you choose to accept it - is to take a nine year old Dell Inspiron 560 and turn it into something that play AAA titles at 60 fps.

Me: If my budget is large enough, can I just buy a new rig and call it a win?

The Voice: You have $200.00 to spend.

Me: Have you considered Stadia for $10/month?

My keyboard is a CM Storm Trigger. Cherry MX Black switches (LTR hates the noise). Some of the keys have started to wear. Anyone know a good source for decent quality backlit keycaps?

To Prime Day B550M- A WiFi 6 or not to Prime Day B550M-A WiFi 6, that is the question.

I guess that depends if I can get a deal on a 3700x?

I've been using qbittorrent since the last time a Vuze update pissed me off. Three or four years ago.

I've tried them all including the paid ones and this is still the best. All the little tweaks you can do while downloading is important to me because I have a 16TB NAS and being able to do those things on the fly is awesome.

It appears to be official: my CPU is not supported by Windows 11.

Maybe I'll just give MSFT time to work out all the bugs.

I did the WIN11 Preview Insider thing with my HP Envy Notebook and it was fine, this is a little older box. I'm not fucking with my new desktop for a while though.
