General Board Idiots

The GB is the sump in the sewer of Literotica, collecting the crappiest of the crap. However, there are some genuinly interesting posters there who unfortunately tend to get drowned out by perhaps ten or a dozen unmitigated idiots. Get rid of those and it's not so bad.

The worst feature isn't even the occasionally vicious name calling but a tendency for some posters to organize a 'mob' to single out and go after one individual. That can get very nasty and Laurel should not perhaps hide behind so called 'free speech' principles in failing to deal with it.'

I don't agree with Pilot that the GB is her favourite haunt though. She gives for example, a surprising amount of support to the poetry board, considering that it is a very low traffic area.

I'm on the General Board almost as often as I'm on the Authors' Hangout.

I have three GB people on my ignore list. That improves the experience significantly.

I even post on the Politics Board without experiencing too much drama.

But the General Board can be difficult for newbies. As with any website or board new to you, watch, observe and learn BEFORE posting is sensible advice.

That is as true here on the Authors' Hangout. Although we are more tolerant than we used to be, making an early post announcing that "this is the ONLY way to write stories" - will cause irritation and generate impolite responses.

Belated Happy Birthday, Og! :)

BTW, I have 3 users from GB on my Iggy. The rest are....interesting. ;)

Well, I'm going to be the contrarian here, but I LOVE the General Board. The trolls. The alts. The insults and the name-calling. The political, racial, and sexual threads. Hours of entertainment, and all for free.

Every subculture has its own customs and mores. Often, those customs and mores are unwritten, and are incomprehensible to outsiders. The GB is a subculture of its own. The people who hang out there either enjoy the ambience there, or are secure enough in their own ego that the insults just roll right off of them.

But that's the way they do things there, and they're not going to change their ways just because some Litsters don't like it.

Could be true. I don't look at the poetry board much (don't wish it ill; just don't write much poetry) and I don't follow Laurel around to see where she posts.

As far as another comment, though, she joins in on a lot of those GB gang bang threads as a gang banger. But I thought she dropped a good post on one of the recent gang bangs of me on the GB based on my background that certain folks seem more obsessed with bringing into the Literotica context than I am. She said that she was somewhat disappointed that posters attacking me would assume that no one with an interesting past would post to the Literotica forums. I laughed at that. :D

The whole point, I think, is that the GB is alien to the site it's on.

Not that It matters here on a FREE site whether or not people write stories here or not but there are gb regulars who post stories so not only is your parasite theory bs but you're using a broad brush with it

Talk about stalking hypocrites. You've been the primary slammer of the GB in posts, Hatecraft. It took me saying something for you to switch on your other face. :D

I never said that none of those posting to the GB contributed stories (but most don't). Beyond that I see no reason to respond to you because just about everyone here knows you have the psychotic hots for me. ;)

When Laurel made that comment that it was disappointing that posters here would assume that only someone who had had no life would post to the forum, I thought of you, and laughed.

You laughed about someone saying posters here have no life? You live here.

My comments about the GB were pretty much more in the vein of being annoyed that the site can be falling apart and that's where Laurel spends her time.

I've also said what I said right here in this thread, the elitist attitude of some of there makes me laugh.

Oh, and...I've trolled the GB in the GB, so don't play your idiotic games with me.

Now let's go back to the point I made that you of course obviously ignored....the GB are all parasitic drones....because they don't write stories here and you seem to think you're lining Laurel's pockets:rolleyes: If we went by your theory Samuel X is paying for us all to be here.

But anyway as for the drones of the GB

I tried the GB before being invited to the AH.
Not being a citizen of the US and therefore ignorant of much 'americana' I I got a bit of a pasting after which I packed it in.
To my mind there is the world of difference between being (more or less) polite and "free speech". A well-made polite comment can be just as pointed as a collection of short-hand swearing and can, I think, be more dangerous for it. It's also probably easier to read.

:)

Well, yes, but on the other hand... fuck you, you fuckin' fuck.

Hah! I refute you thus.

(/jokes ;))

I'll just say that Hatecraft fits in nicely with the general GB crowd, even in his hypocritical love/hate attitude toward the GB. :)

I laughed when Lisbeth was wearing that shirt in Girl with a Dragon Tattoo.

One of the best invitations to a drunken weekend brawl I ever heard was a guy standing outside the pub yelling "You fucked my fuck, you fuckin' fuck!" at someone. Pretty grammatically impressive for a dude who could barely stand.

Hatecraft is on one of his crazy-anger jags tonight. You may still read that here right before his head explodes. :D

Eh, I started out in the AH, things slowed down here so wandered over to the GB and found some cool jazz in between the alts, which is a sport over there I ignore. Been overall a positive experience there.

Last drunken brawl I got into was because one of the morons I was out with decided to grope a girl on the dance floor and her husband and four friends were not amused.

In hindsight I probably should have just let him get pounded, it would have been easier than dealing with my wife when she came and bailed me out....that was one loooong ride home.

The GB is full of lonely fat retired guys pretending to be females who pretend to look for love in all the wrong places just to fuck with those few who venture there, at their own risk, to test the waters of an unmoderated free for all bulletin board.

Most of the GB posters are looking for a fight and usually get what they want.

Zeb, whoah, hey. Mean.

I'm a drone?

I'm a drone with Ogg.

I'll be on any list with Ogg, so okay.

Sean Renaud is good company as well both as a poster and an author, has a ton of role plays going as well

Going by Pilot's standards Sean is a much more valuable member of LIT than Pilot because he contributes in all phases.

I've fought with and against Sean on the boards, especially in story ideas, one of the few people in life you can argue with yet still have a lot of respect for.

I like Sean, he is level headed but his views are too far left.

I am just here following sr and love around. They can't stand sitting next to each other without touching, it's very fun to watch.

Sean Renaud is one of my favorite people ever.

Even though I killed his dreams and he's threatened to kill me many a time, that's just his way.

He also has been accused of being me or being Ulaven, so that's good company as far as I'm concerned.

Laurel, he's touching me again!;)
